Movie Nights Historical Epics Stream(s?)

Evening Sanctum!!

So I'd like to first thank a whole bunch of users who used their spare Nitro boosts to get our server to Level 2!! @Crankcase @Vasara Glyndark @Fenn @PainterInsomniac @Peregrine @sassafras @Ipsie @Otys (sorry if I missed you, Discord makes it hard to search). We've already made some use of this, including soundboard effects for our site DnD games courtesy of @Rimechapel.

Why am I bringing this up?

Because the reason I requested people use their spare boosts is that, at level 2, the server unlocks the ability for HD streaming—glorious 1080p instead of the ancient 720p (translation for non-nerds: You are either reading this on a phone or a screen that is at least 1080p), fixing the longstanding issue that our streams were, frankly, low quality.

To make full use of this, I want to show some visually stunning movies—and (yes, entirely because I listened to a four-part podcast about Lawrence of Arabia), we will be doing historical epics, to show some of the most visually stunning movies ever made.

Currently on the possible list are Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Northmen (2022), The King (2019), Titanic (1997), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Master and Commander (2003), 1917 (2019), All Quiet on the Western Front (2022), Waterloo (1970) and some older ones, like Ben Hur and Cleopatra.

I say "possible" list because these movies are, pretty much without exception, extremely long, all over two hours and many well north of three. Which is to say, this might be done in multiple streams if people are interested, potentially with movies grouped by time period or by theme.

Not included: Barry Lyndon (love it, but just watched it), Braveheart (hate it) and Gladiator (No. I refuse).

More suggestions are welcome, as is a general sense of which ones people want to see.

I can't remember the name, but I want to say it's Krampus or Krampus Christmas. I can't remember the title!

These are my tops picks;

The Last Duel(2021)
The Northmen(2022)
The King(2019)
The Outlaw King(2018)

Oppenheimer? Never seen but heard but was good.

Original Ben Hur is good. Saw that in social studies in 6th grade.

Kingdom of Heaven is good as is Dunkirk. Never seen nor read (I think it's a book) All Quiet on the Western Front (original or remake) but understand it captures the horrors of war nicely.

Titanic…eh. Not really accurate but enjoy it. Master and Commander, haven't seen in a while but anything with old wooden ships, hmu.

Never seen the others. But I understand Laurence of Arabia is a true story. Saw a sabaton song on it (I think it's the seven pillars).

Schindler's List? Depressing as hell but good.

Doubt your into romance James so won't suggest Gone With the Wind. Just popped up when doing a quick search on historical epics.

Napoleon maybe? Not sure if that is good, wanted to see it but never did.

Old stuff…hmm.

Black Hawk Down, another one that's good not seen in a long time so suggesting that.

I don't know…Hidalgo? 1991 Robin Hood Prince of Thieves? Thin Red Line? I liked that one. Just throwing out stuff, takes these with a grain of salt.

I don't watch much movie streams, but I would sit several hours in front of my phone watching 3+ hour movies.

Amélie- I just love the cinematography of this one.
What dreams may come
Hero
The Wizard of Oz
Inception
Any of the original LotR

Big Fish
To Kill a Mockingbird

I'll leave it at these weird suggestions. Not all of these are visual stunning, but might just be fun to watch party addition during the season
