Old (retired) engineer who played original 1st edition (1975) D&D, using an AT&T Unix beta test site to print out character sheets on greenbar line printers. Now playing with writing soft, humor-forward, romance-possible modern day fantasy stories to try to stay creative. seeking to find like minded souls to collaboratively write scenes/chapters/vignettes about my ensemble cast. will over time put the cast in an original character forum post. I do not have any interest in whatever the current anime/manga/fandoms are, I seek only to work with original characters.

Okay, now that 99.44% of you have already clicked away......
I retired in 2024. I started fooling around with various "AI" roleplay sites and image generation sites because, well, I figured I'd learn how LLMs really work. Mostly learned how they don't work. In the process I came up with three different ideas for writing possible stories. I can write, although it's mostly been technical writing, and I wanted to know if I could learn to pace plot and write dialogue. It's hard, but I try. The first story was a fantasy romance kind of thing about a man and a ghost possessing items instead of people, and it was okay, but actually worked best as an antagonistic "test character" for the "AI" roleplay sites to show exactly why transformer architecture must fail with characters that are sufficiently original. The second attempt was a future sci-fi thing with a premise of people on another planet who were all defined by "character sheets" that only defined their emotional state, not their physical characteristics, where a human man and an android woman get transported there and try to figure out the society. The mechanics of the emotion thing became self-defeating after a few chapters. Current attempt that I believe has legs is an ensemble cast modern day soft fantasy thing centered around a set of 10 main characters (vampire, werewolf, human doctor, ghost, angel, goblin, human witch, incubus, ogre and human engineer/mage) who over a period of years find each other and build a strong 'found family' dynamic. Some internal romances, but mostly external. the goblin, the incubus, the angel and the doctor have external spouses. There are also ~20 secondary and tertiary characters and a set of various locations. Character bios and story timeline are known, but there are innumerable opportunities to generate collaboratively written stories with these characters and how they interact with each other and with other supernatural beings coming into the world.
I see the existing work as a stable foundation with many opportunities to expand and flesh out all the stories about how they come together, plus many 'slice of life' stories about how the organization they form interacts with others, and the couples provide options for romantic tales. And I am faintly hoping that there might be someone on this site who could find this setup interesting enough to want to develop it further in a collaborative way. There's plenty of room to add your own OCs into the world.
