Yo! I joined a couple weeks ago and this is somehow my first time seeing this thread. No clue how, but whatever. Here we are.
I'm a university student with a job, but my schedules for both are so so so incredibly lenient and free, that I'll probably always be open for responses. Even if I'm working my job more often than not doesn't require much from me so… yeah. I basically have an unholy amount of free time. Probably the only times I couldn't potentially instantly get back to someone is when I'm playing games, or actively working on a reply. I love to procrastinate on school stuff, rp? Perfect way to do that
My open schedule is further enhanced by a dangerously bad sleep schedule. To put it into perspective: last night I went to sleep around 3am, woke up this morning at 9am, have been awake since then… it's 2:30am now. I feel my self-proclaimed title as "Energetic Insomniac" is an apt one.
All of that is to say: I can reply often and quickly. I know others cannot and it's not an issue. If I was smarter, things'd probably be different. I'm not smart. Here we are.
Enough rambling, here's shtuff actually pertaining to rp:
I've been rping for like 7 years or more now? In that time I've taken many breaks. Actually the reason I'm here is because after a very long break, I wanted to get back into rp, work on my writing, and just start thinking creatively again. RP was my main way of doing all this, so I found the sanctum and here we are.
When it comes to my writing, I do third person, generally past tense. Regarding detail: everyone has different definitions. I even posted a bit about my thoughts on the matter in the 'writing pet peeves' thread. I can easily do multi-paragraphs (obvi) and that is definitely what my preference is. Of course if we have a dialogue heavy scene or things can other be moved on quicker, one paragraph or so isn't an issue. Just never any one liners.
My word count ranges wildly depending on the rp, my writing partner, and other factors. I'd probably average around the 400-500 range? I can go beyond that or even lower. As long as there's something to work with in a response, I'm happy. Quality over quantity and that's jazz.
For genre/setting preferences, I think just about anything is free game. I'm most familiar with fantasy, specifically modern and medieval fantasy. I'd probably say that fantasy is my favorite because it can be added into literally everything else. Tiefling with magic, in space? Yes please. Seriously though I'm open to literally any setting or genre. Love sci-fi, dystopian, historical, supernatural, detective, horror, post-apocalypse, whatever the hell. Seriously, name it and I'll be fine with it. That said, SoL is probably my least favorite. It's hard to make work for extended periods, but if the characters are good or ideas interesting enough, I'd be willing for it.
Romance to me isn't a must per se, but I've never done an rp without romance blooming between the main characters (maybe technically not true?) In that vein, smut is whatever to me. Happy to have it, don't feel anything about losing it. I think it's a natural part of romance but doesn't really need to be described every time. It can get tiring honestly. For me it's probably be a 60/40 or 70/30 story/smut ratio. Also for couplings, I tend to have a preference towards FxF, but I'm fine with MxF and even MxM, though that one I've rarely done.
On the topic of smut, there's little I'm not open to. However, I'll leave that to discuss in private, if it comes up/matters.
When it comes to fandom rp… I'm not the biggest fan. I'm fine with an rp inspired by something else, using ideas, setting, or even a magic system or the like from it. But I prefer things to be generally original. Our own characters and stuff. Idk, my thoughts on fandom rps is a really weird thing that I have difficulty describing. I guess the best way for me to formulate my thoughts on it would be: I'd do an rp in the world of Mass Effect, but I don't want to play as or interact with Shepard and crew (unless I'm in a really really particular mood and the rp is short-term… or we do our own story. Irdk). I hope that makes sense.
That was a lot. Much more than I was expecting to put down but eh. Happy to formally introduce myself on this site which has been really great so far! Love to get into some new rps with more people :), or even just chat.
(I will not be proofreading this until tomorrow when I wake up. I look forward to seeing how badly I messed up in this post.)
