You have got to be kidding me! A relatively old school forum for RP that is active in 2022? Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me!
In all seriousness, howdy people of the Inner Sanctum! I'm Penfighter, though ya'll can call me Pen! I'm a long time RPer with 23 years of experience on endless forums (administrating, moderating, and even owning some of 'em!) discords, yahoo user rooms, and even AIM back in the day. I've played everything from fantasy and sci-fi to some real bizarre stuff I don't really want to talk about now. Point is, I've been at this forever. That said, aside from some of my long time private message writing partners, I've definitely been starved of quality group forum for quite a long while.
As far as the personals go, I'm nothing special. I'm in my 30s, male, straight, polyamorous, married, and I occupy my time by being a father, creating content online, writing, gaming, reading my many many many books, and nerding out over TV shows and comic books. Those are the basics but I'm sure we'll get to know one another better as time goes on.
Although it was made quite clear there at the start of this introduction, I'm here because I'm craving some RP in a desperate way. After posting this, I'll be heading straight over to the threads to see what's cooking. I like basically all genres of roleplay but prefer to do those in a forum setting where people have at least a decent grasp of writing in English and are willing to try new characters and concepts. There was a point many years ago where I essentially abandoned using any OCs and made a commitment to creating fresh characters as often as possible. Joining a site that is new to me like this one is something I'm super comfortable with.
Which brings me to my conversation starter! What's your favorite RP that you ever participated in? I'll answer first:
I once did a forum RP in the fantasy genre with some long time writing partners where we created all new characters with a really interesting and challenging premise. All of our characters already knew each other but we slapped together only basic character sheets with limited info on who our people were. This meant that we would inform each other's characters as we wrote and build everything about them and the world itself largely through improvisational means only. The story ended up being super neat even though we never finished it and the characters were unforgettable. I miss everyone from that group but I definitely loved that concept and would love to try again someday.
