Had and invite from a fellow writer from Smash. I thought I may as well just use my name as it's on the cover of all my books anyway. Until I get the hang of this I'll probably posting things on the wrong threads etc. Blame it on old age and too much beer. A quick search on the web finds my stuff.

hello there and welcome to the Inner Sanctum, if you've got any questions feel free to ask

Welcome to the Inner Sanctum! I do hope you enjoy your time here! Good luck to you and Happy Writing! 🌻

Welcome! We're happy to have you here, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. 😁

What a nice friendly bunch you are. I've probably got a couple of new books on the back burner, real life and a garden to tame got in the way. But I'll no doubt feel the pull of rusty loptap to knuckle down and churn something out. I have a couple of folk on the smash site to thank for pointing me here. I usually hibernate (in the UK) for the winter and write a couple of books whilst under the influence. I think some of my best stuff was done on auto pilot in a state of oblivion. Being more in control now, sort of, I actually remember most of what I wrote the day before. Not recommending it by the way, it was what it was. Anyway, anyone interested can find me in all the usual places and comment if they wish. Later.

A garden, you say? Please, tell me more. 🌿😊🌱
Hi, Peachy. I've been at this address about five years, here in the 'Black Country' an area in central England. You'll have to look up to see how it got it's name as too long a tale for now.
Got into gardening seriously last summer (yes, we do have them here) and now have several flower beds. Also a raised garden pool built from old wooden pallets. I'll have fish and plants in it next spring. As a committed skip diver, I take anything useful others throw away and I've built a shed, potting shed, the pool and now I'm making a cold frame mostly from reclaimed materials. I've also started a couple of worm farms and I'm the proud owner of two little lemon trees grown from supermarket pips. How to do that is on youtube.
As the weather turns British, I'll settle into all things creative like painting, dry clay sculpture and of course writing but not all at the same time.

That's fantastic! I do see why it's called the Black Country -- very cool! I learned something new today. 😁 I run a small urban (suburban really) farm in the mountain west region of the US. This was my first year, but I've produced enough fruits, veggies, and canned goods that I've got a little trade ring going with other farmers. I'm establishing scattered pollinator gardens around the house, and I'm planning on adding honeybees and possibly a mushroom farm in the coming years. I'm working on gardening in mixed beds to fortify the sandy clay soil we have out here, and I've been mixing in local compost (my bin should be ready by next year) to add more nutrients. In addition to my pollinator plants, fruits, and veggies, I also grow medicinal herbs and flowers and plants to dry for tea.

If you ever feel like sharing pictures of your garden and buildings, I'd love to see them! We have a forum for those of us with green thumbs (though I admit, I frequently forget to post there) ---> The Greenhouse.

How long have you been sculpting? I've always liked the idea of it myself, but my hands are cracked and dry enough without the aid of clay. I play ice hockey in the winter (year-round, but the good leagues are in the winter), and I have over 100 houseplants to keep me digging in the dirt during the off-season.

My garden is quite tiny, really, I just cram a lot into it. Mostly flowers but I've brocoli ? and cabbage seedlings in the potting shed to go in my cold frame when I've finished building it. I have a couple of patches of wild flowers for the bees etc. Next spring / summer should be amazing with all the new bulbs and seeds planted so looking forward to that. Tried adding a photo of a painting here but it came up too large so I'll have to work on that. I was on BA fine art degree but health issues got in the way. I've a female warrior on a dragon in clay on my coffee table. 50kg of clay awaits to churn out some weird creation. A good job I've retired or I'd never have time

If you upload the image to an external host like Imgur and then paste in the link, that'll help. You can also upload a screenshot. The site only accepts direct uploads of a pretty limited size.

Your clay creation sounds cool, and that's a lot waiting to be shaped!

I had same issues with the smash forum. Don't do much on other sites for posting other than goodreads and the other ebook outlets like Zon, so it looks like just the words from me. That's if I can remember how to write lol, but I'll soon be back into that book I shelved and it'll keep me going until spring.
50kg sounds a lot but it doesn't go far.

If you've got pointers for picking up stories you've run out of steam on, let me know. I'm about 350,000 words into writing a Star Trek series and I kind of petered out, so it's sitting on the shelf for now.

That's a fair point. Clay is pretty dense.

Yeah. A bit like me.
I don't start with any intentions of a series. I was surprised how the first Craggy book took off, so I thought I'd better write more. But I've done with Craggy (I think) so new stuff like Drifta's Quest. I'd need to see a lot more interest in book two for a book three.
I think sometimes it pays to just walk away from writing for awhile. The creative work is done in the back of the mind and it doesn't want to say hello to the front until it's got somewhere. I've loads of ideas and first paragraphs stored away, if anything ever comes of them, time will tell. A single plant does not a garden make. Heck. That sounds quite profound. I must write it down somewhere.

Babel didn't start out as a series either, but it just kind of... happened. I set out to write some sci-fi in a familiar backdrop and ended up boldly going where I'd never gone before. It's fun, I'm just a little burnt out on the level of commitment planning the episodes takes.

Hello, mate. Nice to be chatting to fellow scribes. Sad about the smash forum and I still don't know what happened to Ted. As I've mentioned on here, I have been gardening and considering starting a couple of plum trees from pips as shown on youtube. Lemon plants are doing great but plums should be ok planted outside once big enough. But our winter in UK is threatening us so I might even be inspired to sharpen my quill again.

I've been following your lemon experiments. Don't you have to have a yellow thumb for that? LOL. Did you see the new fantasy map I posted on Smash? Lots of tiny castles; painted all those buggers. I was happy with the sea and the little ships! They're dinky, Gary. I'm just glad he didn't wish me to paint tiny knights and catapults.

You can see it here, top of the page: Bizarre Tales | Fantasy Art

Excellent work. I see you pay homage to Bob Ross. His half hour demos are being run on UK tv. Not bad for a bloke who died in 1995
