To not bury the lede, due to real life, two members of my group roleplay thread were forced to bow out.
Now, this story has had a lot of worldbuilding and planning put into it, but to be clear up front I don't expect you to read through it all. I mean, you can and I'd like to think it's good enough that you would enjoy doing so, but this isn't a story that requires hours of homework to understand.
In fact, let me summarize everything that has happened so far in 150 words or less.
That's where we have paused for now, with the last candidate about to accept her role.
So in terms of setup, we're not actually that far into it and so my idea is, put simply, for one or more people to simply come in and take over the abdicated roles.
I'll list those out below, but I'll start by saying what this story is about. It is, at its core, an interpersonal story. There will, clearly, be sexual elements, as well as politics—but also action, drama and even comedy can come and go. It's also extremely heavy on the polyamory, with so far practically none of the main characters engaged in (or seemingly all that interested in) monogamy. Oh there will be jealousy and infighting, but those are far more political than personal (with one exception). Beyond that, a huge part of it is building a world through the eyes of these characters. Cultures, traditions, religions, it's all there to be built on.
But, right, who are our cast of available characters?

1. Freyr — Alexios's foreign bodyguard, lieutenant and the lover of his sister Anastasia (yes, there is one male role up for grabs). Tough, capable and with a keen strategic mind, he can be a bit hard headed and his singular devotion to his Imperial Princess is unnerving to a woman for whom emotional attachment does not come easily.
2 Arcturia Vasilios — Daughter of the demanding and ambitious High Priestess Themetia, she is by far the most reluctant member of the harem. The reason? She has no interest whatsoever in the company of men. To her fortune, Alexios' other sister, Alexandra, has her own preferences and the beautiful, demure priestess has caught her eye.
3. Tabbati Fahirr — A scholar and bookworm from an ancient tribal family that claims descent from the long lost kings of the now Imperial province and the goddess of the desert herself, she found herself considering what a life with Alexios might offer her and he found himself considering the merits of her wit and ancient lineage. Precocious, upbeat and clever, she is still an outsider and unfamiliar with the ways of the capital
4. Lena Koschi — Daughter of one of the Empire's most capable generals, she is better known for her own talents and one specific idiosyncrasy. Her angelic, almost magical singing voice—and the fact that, when not singing, she is entirely mute. Clever and to a degree, ruthless, Anastasia recognized that too often, she would be thought deaf as well as blind and cultivated her as a talented spy, helping her in her manipulations of the great families of the capital. Her selection as one of Alexios' consorts is both a reward for loyal service and a realization that her ears might be even more useful inside the palace walls. She's also shockingly innocent considering the life she has lived in one of the world's most wanton cities.

Frigga Astridrsdottir — Sister of Freyr, she was given a role in the palace as the sword trainer for Alexandra, but her ambition was always to join the Valkyrja, the legendary, all female, foreign band that guards the Imperial family. Charismatic, outgoing and incredibly dangerous, she was selected as much as a protector of Alexios' family and as a means to elevate her brother as for her own merits.
There are other minor characters—several of these have parents, for example—but these are the ones who willl play a major role.
Now, I know that coming in and playing an existing character is something that a lot of people are reluctant to do, so I want to emphasize: In terms of these characters, we are incredibly early in their development. The story has covered less than 6 hours of their lives. If you like the general idea of a character, but want to rework them to fit a different vision, that is not only fine, but I will outright encourage it. Make these characters your own!!
If you are interested in playing them or just have any questions message me!! Ideally we'll split the five of them between two new people and get rolling again, but in principle, one person could take on three and we split the others between myself and @firefly.

The Imperial family, greatly reduced by infighting and conflict, has declined to just him, his father, his two adult sisters and his young daughter. One by one, from a scion of a wealthy family to a hereditary priestess to foreign beauties with ancient and powerful bloodlines, they are offered and they accept.
