A packed crowd full of people all gathered beneath an excessively large tent, all staring towards the center ring in anticipation for what they had been promised. During the previous week, various adverts and posters had been seen posted throughout the town, detailing the arrival of a new sideshow attraction for a few days.
'Come and join the madness!' One of them read, 'Let us take you to a new world, far beyond the modern conventions you are so used to! The masters bears all manner of gorgeous creatures to behold, not mere freaks, but true works of art from a world distant from our own! Only three days will you have this chance, and never again might you see it!'
While seemingly the basic pitch given by typical carnie groups and freak parades that stopped by from time to time, it still attracted a large crowd. Rumors spread like wildfire, telling of just what the show had to offer. Lizard Folk, creatures from the deep, unnatural beasts found in hearts of forests unexplored, and even the occasional mentions of Aliens from another world entirely. Everyone was just itching to know the truth of these claims, and so tickets sold quickly. From the first moment entering the festivity grounds, it was clear that there was a large populous in attendance. In the time leading up to the show, various games, food stalls, and even the occasional small ride sat in wait, allowing the soon to be spectators to pass the time. Some of the workers appeared normal, whereas others had strange features too real to be mere smoke and mirrors. Glowing red eyes, pale and scaley skin, wing, all things to be seen on the occasional oddity in the carnies.
Some may have been impressed in that moment alone. But then it was showtime.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" An enthusiastic voice hollered from the darkness of the tent.
Spotlights focused on the center ring, revealing no one there. Then, a giant plume of black smoke erupted, and suddenly a man appeared before them all. He dressed in a simple button up shirt with the top half unbuttoned, black slacks that fit him well, and a sturdy set of boots. Diamond patterned paint common in jesters adorned his eyes, which were void of color themselves. A wide grin was spread across is face, as he towered in stature. He had to be over six feet, with a thinner yet strong frame. Long black hair was fastened loosely at the back of his head in a ponytail. Taking an excessively deep bow, he then raised his arms to address the audience.
"Welcome one! Welcome all! Outcasts! Freaks! Mistakes and Miscarriages alike! I am Johan, your host for the evening, and I'm delighted that you all accepted my invitation to join me on an adventure outside your conventional world this night! Mistake me not, I am no conman, my friends performing for you this night truly are nothing short of otherworldly. Not mere freaks of our own kind, that I'd be so heinous as to take advantage of. They are very real, and eager to show you a good time! So set aside your disbelief friends! Your time of wonder, starts now!"
Snapping his fingers, the black smoke that had summoned the Host began to swirl about the room, thickening and blinding the audience for a time. Then, all at once it was lifted, revealing a stage with all manner of unnatural performs upon it. Angelic beings soaring through the air, Demonic figures danced through ropes strung from the ceiling, Reptilian men breathed fire in tandem to create glorious images, and many other odd yet beautiful things were shown. The ringmaster stood amongst them all, grinning proudly at the display.
He'd promised unworldly beings, and he had delivered.

Hello there! Thank you for taking the time to read my little blurb of plot here! I've been intent on making a plot of this variety for some time now, but never really got around to it until now due to a lack of motivation. So, as is obvious this plot is going to focus around an ambiguous group of traveling performs, traversing the world only to perform in places for one night before disappearing without a trace! Carrying all sorts of unworldly marvels, people can do nothing but spread rumors that none would believe after the show is over.
Johan, the character I'll be playing, is a black magician that has aided paranormal creatures from various places escape their homes and have a place to reside in the mortal world, free from the laws that once bound them. They get a chance to see the world, and be provided a safe Haven that they can choose to perform in, or merely travel alongside. The time period is around the early 1900's, a typical freakshow era.
The plot to follow is that one day, after a successful show, as the crew celebrates and prepares to depart. It is suddenly brought to Johan's attention of finding an injured paranormal just on the outside of their camp. This is confusing, because typically only through Johan's magic could he allow paranormals to escape their respective worlds. Yet this one escaped, albeit injured. Which left a couple questions, what were they running from? And would it be able to escape as well?
It's ambiguous, it's weird, but it's something I want to try! I see to much of the same stuff posted on a daily basis so I figured I'd try my hand at posting something weird in the mix! It's heavily inspired by forms of media like the Cirque Du Freak book series, The Greatest Showman, this random video I saw literally a couple days ago LMAO, and if you didn't pick up the reference in the title, the song "Friends on the Other Side" from Princess and the Frog.
Anyways! If nothing else I hope you enjoyed the read! If you're wanting to participate, feel free to shoot me a PM! I'd love to flesh this out more and get a story rolling!
