⸻⠀the self⠀⸻ Jon tends to see the best in people, preferring to view the world in a "the glass is half full" type of way. Having traveled for a long time and having met many different types of people, he believes that one should live how they want to live, and not care what others think if living that way makes them happy. People who make friends with him soon discover that he's very loyal and selfless, always helping if he has the means to do so. He's also very good at keeping secrets, though this stems more from his job as a rent boy. He understands some people wouldn't "get it", but isn't out to make anyone's life harder. ⸻⠀the ability and tools⠀⸻ Jon grew up as the only child of a working-class family. Jon's parents worked closely with nobles, which in turn allowed their son to learn with them. He excelled in music class and had been naturally charming from an early age. When he set out on a career path he made friends with a musical ensemble made mostly out of elves, and has been traveling with them, honing his skills. While in town he also rents out his services as a rentboy, which has a fair amount of success since Jon doesn't stay in one place for too long. ABILITIES // As a bard, Jon is very well-versed in Performance-based and perception-based skills. Jon is quick-witted and charming, so he's pretty persuasive and an even better liar. His charm and persuasion have only grown thanks to his job as a rentboy. As Jon's troupe is made out of a lot of different races, he's become quite adept at learning new languages and is multilingual. SPELLS // Jon knows the following spells: 0 Level (Cantrips):
Dancing Lights - Creates up to four torch-sized lights, making them appear as torches, lanterns, or glowing orbs that hover in the air. The lights can be any color and can move in any direction. They can also combine into a glowing humanoid form. Every light sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius.
Prestidigitation - This spell is a minor magical trick that novice spellcasters use for practice. You can create one of the following magical effects"
- Creates an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
- Instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torc,h or a small campfire.
- Instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than one cubit foot.
- Chill, warm, or flavor up to one cubic foot of nonliving material for one hour.
- Make a color, a small mark. or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for one hour.
- Create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand for a short time.
If someone can cast the spell multiple times, it can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, can can dismiss them at any time.

ATTIRE // Usually something gaudy and revealing, something he can easily perform in, and something that draws in the eyes of others. When adventuring he performs to wear light armor, like something made of leather. GEAR // Jon's father gave him a songblade that once belonged to his grandfather, who was also a bard. It still works, but not as well as newer songblades on the market, so Jon is looking for a blacksmith that can rework the blade to its former glory. INVENTORY // As a bard, Jon carried his instrument of choice, a cittern, wherever he goes. ⸻⠀the story⠀⸻ Jon Pastor was born late in the wintertime, in the land of Khare. His mother was one of the ladies-in-waiting to a noblewoman and his father was a high-ranking official of the Royal Knights. This combination of these titles afforded Jon many privileges, though it was clear to him at a young age, that even though he studied and was friends with many noble children, he was not a noble himself. His accommodations were simpler than theirs, though still comfortable.
Despite not being a noble, Jon was still quite popular with the other people. He just seemed to have a way with others, and even though he came from a less-than-stellar upbringing it was obvious that he was familiar with the workings of a charming disposition. His voice was naturally flirtatious, and he could talk his way out of most things, and it certainly helped that as he grew up so did his beauty - his crystal blue eyes and dirty blond hair making him almost unnaturally beautiful.
As Jon grew up among noble children, he was allowed to study with them and learned many of the same skills that they did. He learned diplomacy from them, as well as the history and the many different religions in the world. After studying he would help his mother gather plants and make medicine, that being one of her many duties her Lady requested of her. He also grew quite adept at the Arcane arts, having admired mages since he was young, studying it to the point that he could cast spells.
One of Jon's favorite activities, and a class he excelled in, was music class. Every noble child was required to take it and Jon took to it easier than any of the other children there. He was able to pick up most instruments quickly and when he was asked to sing one day, everyone listening was awe-struck by how beautiful his voice was. He picked up the dancing they practiced with ease and often liked to add his twist to their dances, tumbling to give them extra flair.
When Jon came of age and it was time for him to choose a path to follow he was given many choices. He could have stayed at noble court and lived a life of servitude under them, and was also urged to join the Royal Knights, which no one doubted he would do wonderful in. To Jon, however, his path was clear. He had made friends with a traveling musical ensemble and decided to live the life of traveling troubadour, learning what he could about the world and performing for others.
After getting a blessing from his parents and the people he cared about, Jon was presented with a gift of a cittern and an old songblade that belonged to one of Jon's ancestors. Since then, Jon has been traveling with the ensemble, becoming an even better performer. Jon did run into a problem when he found himself running low on funds quicker than he would have liked. Besides performing, he often had to do odd jobs to make ends meet, and even though he lived with the ensemble it was a very meager life. One day he met a local whore who was not that much older than he was and learned after talking to her that certain men preferred those of a more masculine persuasion. Desperate to make money, he decided to try his hand at being a rent boy.
Despite having never trained as a whore before Jon had quite a bit of success as a rent boy. He was still even more attractive than he had been when he was younger, and having used his charm so much as a young man he knew how to use his body and voice to appear more appealing. Jon knew how to bring about a sense of sex so well that even men who had never thought about sleeping with a man before found themselves questioning whether they should try it. Also, since Jon was always traveling it meant that if someone was curious, they only had a limited time to quell their curiosity.
Jon learned that he sold his body a few times a month, he made enough to continue to live comfortably among his troupe. His troupe was well versed in negotiating and trading - performing for food and board at the local tavern, and with Jon's new career as a rent boy, they've been able to offer his services, if someone wants to use him. Jon was worried that his friends thought of him as nothing more than a whore, but they refer him as a performer first and foremost, and not just a whore like he was worried they would.
Jon had been living this way for a few years but his ensemble has recently returned home. He's been growing a bit weary of traveling so much, so he's been thinking about parting ways with his troupe & settling down. He does want to continue performing, so he's thinking of joining the Entertainer's Guild in town and then looking for a brothel that could benefit from his services. He hasn't told his family or friends about his side job and doesn't believe he can keep it a secret for long, but hopes they understand that this is what he had to do to survive, and it hasn't failed him yet.
