Hey there! I’m jones- I use she/her pronouns, am in my 30’s, am located in US Central Timezone and am looking for someone to write a story with me - Perhaps it could be you! But before you decide, here’s what you should know:

Romance and Sex Stuff
I very much enjoy a slow burn romance, where it takes characters awhile to get together and the tension keeps building, but I do also enjoy the opposite, usually for a secondary couple- Where they immediately fall into bed together, but take time to catch feelings (or at least admit to such a thing!) I’m not interested in writing ‘love at first sight’ type of stories.
I’m also not very interested in ‘doomed’ relationships as the primary focus- Characters might start not liking each other or have a power imbalance, and bad things might happen throughout the story, but I’d like to imagine that they will someday be happy and healthy together, because I am a sap like that. Side characters or secondary romances can potentially be set up to fail that goal though- I just don’t want tragedy and toxicity all around!
To be honest, I haven’t written a lot of sex scenes- But I’m certainly not opposed to learning! When it comes to sexual ‘dynamics’, I don’t believe that top = dominate or bottom = submissive (most prevalent for MxM pairings, I guess). I don’t even believe that every relationship needs to have a dom/sub dynamic- Though of course that's on the table! I would suspect my interests in this area are relatively vanilla-esque, but as I haven’t written much in this area… Who knows! Plus, my characters aren’t me so who knows what interests they might have. If we decide we want to write together, this is something we can discuss more in detail as our conversation and our characters progress.
My Limits:
Content wise, my biggest trigger/no-go would be sexual assault ‘on screen’ as it were- It can certainly be part of a character’s back story or even happening in the ‘present’ of the story, but I’ve no desire to read/write about it in more than cursory terms.
I’m fine with violence, and it can even occasionally be excessive if that fits with what the story needs, but I don’t want to write (or read) posts and posts of gore.
Stories I want to write!
My preferred settings are the low fantasy/medieval-esque sort of environments you might find in GRR Martin’s writing or similar stories. (My real writing inspiration is Megan Whalen Turner’s Queen’s Thief series, but I find GRRM to be a more commonly known cultural shorthand!)
If there is going to be magic, I prefer it to be limited in scope, or rigid in mechanisms- Something like the Grishas of Leigh Bardugo or the benders in the world of Avatar: The Last Air Bender. I could potentially be swayed to go against this preference in the right circumstances, or to do high fantasy.
I also enjoy a science fiction setting of pretty much any type, particularly those like Becky Chamber’s writings or the TV show Firefly.
I am not currently looking for any modern era settings, or direct historical settings.
Some of the things/tropes that I love to include in my stories are:
Arranged marriage (probably my favorite thing)
Mistaken identities
Fake relationships
Characters being Stupid-Yet-Noble™
Culture clash/misunderstandings
Excessive pining
Characters recovering from trauma and/or abuse
Characters breaking cycles of trauma and/or abuse
Manipulative/scheming characters who intentionally let others underestimate them
Found Family
Court intrigue and political machinations
Some more thought out plot ideas:
Ye Olde Arranged Marriage- The characters should be enemies. Maybe one’s kingdom has conquered the other’s country. Maybe they are both from rival noble houses, with animosity stretching back through the ages. But now the time has come to bury the hatchet and welcome in a new era of peace, and what better way to kick that off than a wedding? This likely works best with a MxF romance or in an omega verse scenario*, or some other pairing that could produce heirs (though we can certainly world build in such a way that would normalize a relationship of really any combination we please, I love doing this!). However, I would also like to have a MxM romance as well- I’ll admit I already have characters in mind for this, so.
(Averrett is a new king, and has recently ended the war his father started by defeating your character’s country. Instead of outright conquering your character’s country to divide up amongst his own nobility, he has proposed a truce through marriage- Which would have a rocky start, understandably! His friend Emerson, the bastard son of a noble family, would have a romance with your second character, the first’s advisor/friend/brother/whomever. I can certainly tell you more about these two and the world they occupy, and while I’m attached to some aspects of their characters, I can be flexible with restructuring them in a way that will better suit your characters and the world we create together. I want you to feel like you have a say in this story, not that I’m just throwing my blorbos at you!)
Characters have to navigate their complicated feelings for ‘the other side’ getting progressively more complicated due to attraction as well as figure out how they are going to navigate court politics, tax trade goods, the grain shortage, etc
*A note about omega verse sort of things: I'm generally okay with adding this dimension to any plot, but would like to talk about it first pretty in depthly. There are somethings I don’t like about common omegaverse tropes/scenarios (as big as 'people using it to justify ‘pregnant men’ like trans men don’t exist', to as little as 'I just find it annoying how they all call each other ‘Omega’ and ‘Alpha’') so I would want to make sure we are on the same page about what we want out of it. Plus it’s my understanding that some of the common tropes/scenarios aren’t in line with site rules, so I’d definitely want to make sure we are above board with that.
Ye Old Arranged Marriage: You’ve Got Mail Style- Characters who should be enemies met as children or preteens, maybe at a trade summit or something who knows, not knowing who the other was and enjoyed several days of fast friendship. Over the years they have written to each other as secret penpals and perhaps fallen in love through their letters. But oh no! The families/countries put aside old grudges and unite through marriage! The characters still have the struggles of above, PLUS they are mourning their lost love while trying to resist the charms of their new spouse. I’m imagining we can do posts that are scenes of the story, plus the letters they are writing to each other? This one has a lot of complications to figure out- how did they go so long without discovering the identity of the other being the biggest one that comes to mind!- but I LOVE some mistaken identity shenanigans and think this could be fun!
Knight/Guard/Soldier and Prince/Princess On The Run- When the kingdom is attacked and the King/Queen/other royal family killed suddenly, one of the guards manages to escape with the heir to the throne. Together they must travel to the kingdom of the heir’s betrothed to seek refuge and/or possible assistance in retaking their home…. And they fall in love on the way of course. How will they navigate these new feelings with the reality that a political marriage may be the only thing that can protect them (and maybe their people)?
A couple of different things we could add to this would be that maybe the pair decides to disguise the ‘princess’ as a man for safety on the road, allowing the princess character to realize (or live out the reality) that the prescribed gender roles of their culture do not fit their identity as neatly as others may have thought. And of course there is always the pesky problem of the betrothed- Perhaps we write that character to be an antagonist to our happy couple OR we create a poly relationship that starts uneasily but blossoms into eventual happiness OR the betrothed is already in love with someone else (which we could also make into a poly situation or figure out a way for the betrothed to be with that person, I don’t know yet). This one would likely have to have a pretty small ‘cast’ at the point where the pair are on the run and I do prefer more characters over fewer, but that is not insurmountable to me and we could always give them some rebel friends or other refugees, who knows!
I’m going to add some other potential plots soon and maybe make this look prettier, but for now I think this will suffice!

- Lazy lit. I can write quite a bit at times, but I usually don’t and I don’t feel that length is really indicative of quality. I love the interactive part of role-play, especially conversational or action heavy scenes, and have just found the flow for those are easier with shorter replies.
- Once a week story posts, at least. I can usually do more often, but if it’s going to be longer than that I will let you know.
- I can be pretty chatty ooc and love making friends with my writing partners! I’m not expecting to be besties, but if you are someone who doesn’t enjoy the occasional griping about our jobs or sharing of pet pictures, it’s likely not going to work out.
The Characters and Relationships:
- Many characters! I love a large ‘cast’ as it were, and enjoy giving secondary and even tertiary characters their chance to shine with their own romances and character arcs.
- Diverse characters! My characters vary in their races, genders, ability statuses, sexual orientations and more, and I’m not interested in justifying why to anyone.
- Romance: A must. But even if it’s the driving force for our story, it shouldn’t be the only thing going on and I do want a plot to exist beyond ‘they fall in love and have great sex’.
- Romance between…. Anyone! I love pairings between any and all genders, and would also write poly relationships. Right now I’m most craving MxM romances, but would be totally fine with adding other pairings as well!
- I don’t like traditional ‘doubling’ as I understand it (where each writing partner is only writing one of their characters because the other partner wants to write against said character), but am always interested in multiple romances, so long as we are both interested in and invested in all the characters involved.
What I Expect From You:
- Be okay with shorter replies. If you are a novella writer, that’s fine! I look forward to reading what you write- But please don’t expect me to match it. If you want to asses whether we might be a good match, you can take a peek at my writing history on this site- I think it’s decently representative of how I write when I am doing a post as part of typical story scene. I certainly might write more if I’m starting a scene, or less if I’m doing a collab post. See this link for an example of that.
- NO USE OF AI. For writing or for art creation purposes. The most we should be leaning on our computers for is spellcheck and FantasyNameGenerator.Com.
- Communicate. Tell me stuff! Your ideas for the story of course, but also if you might be quiet for a while. Of course, life gets wild sometimes and that isn’t always possible so I understand- And I’m always fine to resume our story (or even just a planning conversation) at any point! Doesn’t matter if it’s been a month or a year!
- Ghosting: If the RP isn’t working out for you anymore- time constraints with real life, not having the motivation for writing at all, not being as inspired by our characters or story as you were thinking you would be- that’s fine! I’d love to know because maybe we can figure out a solution together (take a hiatus, reconfigure the plot, change up the characters…) but I won’t hold it against you if you bail. I also won’t hold it against you to message me later and ask if we could try again or try something new!
- Multiple characters. I mentioned I like to write more than one character- I don’t expect you to juggle a dozen of your own characters all in one scene, but it would be nice if I wasn’t the only one populating the world of our RP.
- World building. I love world building! I don’t mind doing some of the heavier lifting in this area if need be, but like with the multiple characters thing, I don’t want to be doing it all myself! This should be a collaborative effort.
