Notes:
- Queen Naera was visiting her family on Dalaria with the twins when their ships were attacked by pirates. The Alareon Fleet got to them in time as they'd already been chasing these pirates down and a battle ensued, but during it the Queen's lady carrying the four-year-old Jaeha was struck by an arrow and went overboard, taking the boy with her. It was thought that in the chaos of the fighting that he was lost.
- "Both sides of Lord Darion's family were well-known throughout the histories. On his father's side, the stories read of their brutality, the last name 'flay' coming from the way they peeled the skin from their enemies. His mother's family, the Baneforts, were among the earliest shipbuilders in the land, and made very smart investments when they sold their ships. When the two families united, they were practically unstoppable. But after Darion's mother's death, his father shut down completely. He was a shell of a man, a husk, and his business paid for it. His uncle stepped in and did as much as he could to keep them afloat, and it worked for a while, until his Uncle was murdered. That death only made his father's condition worse, the man not eating, not sleeping, not speaking. Darion did what he could, but with his father still alive, was limited. When Darion's father died six years ago, it was almost a blessing. And since that very day, he started his mission and hadn't stopped."
- "Vaemion Valaerys had been his father, but the man had passed away, leaving Jaeha's elder brother, Viserion Valaerys, to inherit the throne at fifteen. His mother - their mother - Naera Alareon had been the regent until Viserion turned eighteen at which point the young man had taken control of the Kingdom. Viserion had ruled Rhaellor for eight years, their father dead for eleven. For all accounts, his brother was a decent King. He'd married at seventeen, forming an uneasy alliance with Maltor by taking a Maltorian Princess, Cedra Blackmont, as his Queen. Their daughter, Shaenyra, was eight.
And Jaeha's twin was called Jaehaenys, a young woman of twenty-two with white hair and lilac eyes, a beauty by all accounts, her hand sought by every eligible Lord and Prince. Viserion had yet to name a betrothal for his sister, though, so she was still in Valaekar, the ruling city of Rhaellor and the place the Royal Family resided."
