Ilyra comes from a farming family on Lothal. Her family were Jogan fruit farmers and she had many siblings (eight older siblings and she was the youngest). During a doctor’s visit for a flu she contracted as a child, she was tested for force sensitivity and, from there, imminently taken by the Jedi Order for training without an opportunity to say goodbye. This has led her, to this day, to have a deep fear of doctors, hospitals, and anything of the medical nature; this has led her to oftentimes refusing medical help and, even worse, to attempt medical procedures (such as stitches) on her own. She thinks often about her family and takes every chance she can to have jogan fruit and jogan fruit desserts (such as tarts, cakes, and pies). For many of her early years in the Jedi Academy, Ilyra was known to be rebellious, doubtful of her teachers, and, in general, a pain in the ass. She was one of those students who everyone recognized would be outstanding if she applied herself, but preferred scribbling obsessively in her journal to studying. It wasn’t until a harsh conversation with Adi Gallia, who’d occasionally taught Ilyra, that Ilyra began to apply herself. Once she did, she progressed quickly through her training.
Now, she is excitedly waiting to be matched with a Jedi Master to teach her further the ways of the force. She is incredibly excited to be out in the world again, doing things that actually matter. Fundamentally, she is a woman of action and is ready to make a change in the galaxy as much as possible. Secretly, she hopes it is Adi Gallia who has been assigned to be her master, though their last conversation was harsh, she admires her greatly. She tells herself though that she’d be fine with any master, except for him of course…
Though she knows it is against the Jedi Code, Ilyra has a very hard time not holding a grudge and has a vengeful streak. Hopefully, her new master will teach her to temper this side of herself.
