So here's a repository of my gentleman...and less than gentle men, as it were. I tend towards playing medieval knights, but as you'll see, that spans a great deal of time and space. If any of the fellows below tickle your interest, by all means, send me a message. More fellows will be added as I work on them.

Also note these guys are customizable to the individual stories, and also can just serve as general ideas. I actually prefer creating new characters for each story, so I'm happy to construct a fella to your taste.

Sir Declan Tyrone
Time Period: Late 14th-Late 15th Century
Nationality: Irish
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Age: 34
b8ada823403a4275888e521bf9a76248.jpg

Arms: sable, a chevron argent, and three martlets, or (A white chevron on a black shield with three gold birds around it)

Details: A raucous and cheerful late-medieval mercenary knight, Declan spent a great deal of time among the Scots and Norse of the British isles during his youth, serving as a gallowglass mercenary before being knighted and striking out on his own. He has spent most of his adult life serving in wars for coin, although he's not one to turn down a ride in the tournament or a little paid thuggery, either. He's fond of loose women, drinking, and carousing, and often irritates the more stodgy among his comrades for his lax approach to courtly behavior- you can knight a mercenary any time you want, but he'll always be the soldier of fortune he is at his heart.

Declan speaks Irish Gaelic, English, French, Italian, and a smattering of Scots Gaelic and Norwegian. He's fully literate as well.

Time and Place: Declan fits best as a mercenary in the Hundred Years War or serving as a foreign condottiero in early Renaissance Italy.

Sir Baldwin FitzGilbert, AKA Baldwin the Black/ Bauduin Le Noir
Time Period: Late 12-Early 13th century
Nationality: English (Technically Cornish)
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 235 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Age: 30

Arms: party per pale, sable and or, with a stag rampant argent, and a goat rampant, sable (A shield split in half down the middle, black on one side, yellow on the other, with a white rearing stag on the black half, and a black rearing goat on the yellow half)

Details: Baldwin is a cold, calculating professional killer. Raised in the wild borderlands of Cornwall, he grew up the middle son of a petty baron, who oversaw a people who, while nominally Christian, still observed the old pagan rituals alongside the tenets of Christ and revered a strange dual deity known as the Bucca- a horned forest god (or demon) the Christians would certainly see as the devil. Baldwin committed a violent murder early on in his life, protecting his younger brother Geoffrey, and was exiled to the Crusades as punishment. Despite his... unique brand of Christianity, Baldwin was a zealous and successful crusader, mostly because he likes to fight and kill, and is very good at it. He's not exactly your knight in shining armor, but he's certainly a man not to be crossed. As a nod to his generally vagabond lifestyle (black armor is easier to clean) and because it looks intimidating, Baldwin paints his armor and helmets, as well as his lances, dull matte black.

Baldwin speaks French, English, and Celtic tongue of Cornwall, although he cannot read or write in any tongue.

Time and Place: As a late 12th/early 13th century knight, Baldwin can easily drop into the stories of Robin Hood, the Crusades of Richard the Lionheart and the battles against Saladin, the Crusades against the Cathar Heretics in France, or the early baron's rebellions against King John.

Sir Tancred FitzUrse/Tancred, son of the Bear
Time Period: Mid 11th to early 12th century
Nationality: Norman
Height: 6'
Weight: 190 lbs
Hair: Brown-Blonde
Eyes: Green
Age: 26
e8d9bcb4dfec08b47ea3008b04efd8de.jpg

Arms: As Tancred exists before the rise of organized heraldry, he does not possess a coat of arms as such. However, his family have carried a bear banner since pagan times as a their standard and totem, and he has been known to paint a bear on his shield. If a crusader, Tancred will have a cross on his shield or other symbol of the faith.

Details: Existing at the dawn of knighthood, Tancred FitzUrse is a direct descendant of the viking tribes who first Christianized under Duke Rollo of Normandy. He is a devoted Christian, a zealous crusader, and a bit of an extravagant fancy boy who likes nice clothing, fine wine, and beautiful women. His is not the world of real or even feigned chivalry, but of brutal near-tribal warfare, contrasted against the decadence of courtly life. He is a brutal and hard man, but not a cruel or unnecessarily vicious one, and tempers his sometimes more barbaric instincts with a wide streak of generosity and genuine religious piety.

That one of his descendants will catapult the name "FitzUrse" into infamy via the murder of a saint... well, let's say its a good thing Tancred can't see the future.

Tancred speaks Norman French, and is totally illiterate.

Time and Place: Tancred fits best in the early periods of the middle ages, perhaps as part of the Norman invasions of England or Italy, or the first Crusade to take Jerusalem.

Sir Stephen of Carterhaugh
Time Period: Late 13th-mid 14th century
Nationality: Scottish
Height: 6'2
Weight: 220 lbs
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Age: 25
a38a4691db1b9b193419448204f99b63.gif

Arms: party per cross, sable and argent, and a boar's head, or (A gold boar's head on a quartered black and white field).

Details; A Scottish knight and lord of the border-fief of Carterhaugh, Sir Stephen balances the day to day dangers of the ever escalating tensions between Scotland and England. He is not a man of grand political convictions, much preferring to ride in tourneys and earn glory than be forced to deal with the growing threat of war. He is not a particularly religious man, but he is superstitious, as Carterhaugh is the home of many stories of faeries and other hidden folk- stories Sir Stephen believes wholeheartedly. Stephen is a quiet, but kind man, fond of music, art, and dancing, and while he is a skilled warrior, he is certainly looked at as effete and "English" by his highland cousins, who see his adoption of the southern way of life as telling of his failings.

Stephen speaks English, French, and Scots-Gaelic. He can read and write in French.

Time and Place: Stephen works perfectly in any story set during the wars of Scottish Independence, especially the on-agian, off-again first conflict, ranging from 1296 to 1328.

Sir Godfrey of Villefranche-sur-Chevre/Sir Godfrey the Giant/Brother Godfrey
Time Period: Early 12th-early 14th century
Nationality: French
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 275 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Age: 23
b5d9abe5d6c385b82d08f0e8e0db2edf.jpg

Arms: As a Templar, Godfrey does not carry his own arms into battle, bearing instead the red cross on white of his order. As he is a knight, however, he does have his own coat of arms, Three lions passant regardant, azure, and three hearts, gules, or (Three blue lions on all fours looking outward, and three red hearts, on a yellow shield), and should he leave the order through his own volition or banishment, he would take them up again.

Details: An enormous knight, standing closer to seven feet than to six, Sir Godfrey was the son of a minor baron in southern France. His father was entangled in a scandal which led to his hanging, and with his father's lads being confiscated by the crown, the young Sir Godfrey gave up the worldly life and entered the ranks of Christianity's famous fighting monks, the Knights Templar. Since then, he has been at the vanguard of many great Templar victories, and the order's enemies speak in hushed tones of the Templar's leashed giant. In truth, Godfrey is a pleasant, charming and intelligent young man whose enormous brutish exterior hides a depth of kindness and a desire to genuinely do good, like one of Charlemagne's paladins of old. He is tormented both by his father's dishonor and his own internal desires for glory and women, both of which go against the Templar codes of humility and chastity.

Only time will tell if Godfrey holds true to the virtues of his order, but regardless he is a good man striving for light in a darkening world. Godfrey can speak French, Occitan, Latin, and a smattering of Arabic. He can both read and write in French and Latin.

Time and Place: Anywhere and Anywhen the Templars are active, Godfrey would fit right in.
