⸻⠀the self⠀⸻

Knot had little memory of life before the forests, plains, and waterfalls of the infinite wilds. There were flashes from time to time; a mother, a home, a song. But in concrete terms, her past was a complete unknown. Life amongst the animals and dense wood of the wilds was all she'd known since girlhood. The child would not have survived if not for the watchful eye of the Grandpa Tree. Well, it was a tree, so it didn't actually have eyes, and despite her insistence on calling it "Grandpa Tree," it bore no familial relation to her. It was a tree, after all. But it spoke to her from time to time, gave her advice on how not to die, and dropped apples on her head when she was hungry. Years of ingesting the fruit of the Grandpa Tree imbued the child, and eventually young woman, with some half-developed and weak magic. Most helpful of which were the abilities to summon a spark of faerie fire, which seemed just like regular fire (but pink!), which allowed her to stay warm in the winter months, and the ability to amplify the healing effect of certain plants, which helped keep her alive the several thousand times the wilds would have rendered her unalive, or when she accidentally set her hair on faerie fire.

Despite being quite content with her life as it was, there was one nagging question, that only grew louder and naggier with age. "What pack do I belong to?" She'd think, examining the species that surrounded herself. "I'm not a fox." She'd determined. "I'm not a squirrel, or a mouse. I'm not a rabbit, a wolf, or a butterfly. I am not..." Then, one day, it occurred to her. "I am not! That's it!" With a silent K in tow, the girl determined that she was Knot. Were there other Knots? She suspected that Grandpa Tree had some knowledge that he was keeping from her, after all he was the one to teach her how to speak human. But all attempts to extract answers from the tree had failed, and so season after season, moon after moon, Knot dreamt of finding a pack of other Knots to call her own. Perhaps even a mate! But in the meantime, she lived a free and simple life among the critters of the wild; learning their ways and bonding with the nature she called home.

With no other Knots to converse with or learn social cues from, and only a grumpy old tree to converse with from time to time, Knot developed into a somewhat awkward, silly, and fast-talking young lady with a knack for observing and learning the ways of the sprawling nature that surrounded her. Her senses of sight and smell were quite keen, allowing her to track almost anything and to see very well in the dark. Her curious mind worked in an almost scientific kind of way, even if she didn't understand the concept or meaning of that word, but that would serve her well if and when she finally rejoined society. But would she actually want that once she found it? Knot didn't know what people were like, especially removed from nature. To her understanding, the entire world revolved around surviving, frolicking, and mating (though she'd never had the chance to do the latter, given that she could only mate with her own kind). For all her wily intelligence, Knot was still incredibly naive and didn't know that other humans could be deceitful, cruel, or manipulative.

One day, with enough practice and exposure to other people, she would mature into a wise Knot, perhaps one to teach others. But for now, she was a kind of squirrel-brained wild child.

MODIFICATIONS //
None

SCARS / MARKINGS //
She usually sports some small scratches or bruises, but her body is surprisingly resilient given that she lives in woods.

⸻⠀the ability and tools⠀⸻

To her knowledge, Knot's skills in tracking, survival, and animal-bonding come purely from lived experience in the wild.

ABILITIES //
Tracking. Survival. Heightened senses.

SPELLS //
Faerie fire and plant-based rejuvenation.

ATTIRE //
In the wild, she is most comfortable being nude. However, she did poach a pair of leather boots and a dog collar from a small shipwreck off the coast and wears those as a small connection to a world she knows she comes from but has never joined. However, she will begrudgingly put on clothes once she travels to a human city.

⸻⠀the story⠀⸻

Her origin is not yet decided, and I'd rather it come up naturally through play over time. However, I would like her to develop her powers and perhaps officially grow into a druid or something like that. More than anything, she wants to join a "pack," or in other words, a group of players to go on adventures with.
