Corrupting Influence
June Challenge Participant
Full name: Lazulpranthus Lazuli the Beguiling, Baroness of the War Harvest, Tenth Heir to the Carmine Throne
Age: According to Laz herself, she's been just shy of one thousand for the past three centuries
Species: Dragon (stuck in more humanoid form for the past decade or so; the reason - unknown)
Orientation: Ace
Background: A former colonel in the Carmine Army, Laz was known for her ruthless battle strategy that left little room for innocents caught in the crossfire. As a result, she was renowned for her brutal yet tantalizing (in its effectiveness) battle strategy, thus her title of "Beguiling" was granted by the Carmine Court shortly after she made rank. About two hundred years ago, following the end of the final war with the sorcerers (the descendants of non-magic humans and dragons), Laz disappeared. She left her noble estate, her titles, and was even demoted in the succession to the Carmine Throne (her noble blood status ensures she will continue to be an heir despite her estrangement). She now resides down a hidden alleyway, around the corner to the right, behind a door tucked beside the dumpster bin in a little one bedroom apartment. She performs archival work for a local public library, reviewing records of the history and evolution of both the Dragon and Sorcerer lines. Much of this work is informed by her own lived experience unbeknownst to her coworkers. No other dragons know her whereabouts (that she is aware of), as she lives almost entirely in her human form. Lately, she's found it's gotten a lot harder to switch back to her true form...
Temperament: Laz is quiet, calculating, but this can sometimes give way to hotheadedness when pressed. She enjoys her alone time, and notably, as compared to others of her species, has never taken a mate. She is manipulative and at times cruel, but over the past several centuries, she has come to struggle with this image. Lately, she's been feeling somewhat self-flagellatory in regard to her past, and has been coming to terms with feeling something akin to guilt.
Abilities: In her true form, Laz can manipulate and twist the fabric of the physical world. She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and can cast spells without needing to recite an incantation. She possesses multiple breath abilities including fire, water, and poison. In her human form, she is much more limited. Her spells do not hit as hard and she possesses none of her breath abilities.
Appearance: As a human, she is mousy and bespectacled. But in her true form, she towers six stories tall and oozes an inky blue sheen from her scales.
AN: This is mostly a place for me to keep track of my ideas for the character, but if you're looking to rp, feel free to comment or dm! I'm also most likely going to start a world-building thread incorporating the fantasy paleontology and historical elements, as well as eventually making a request thread. I did a mini-roleplay with Laz in an open forum here about her distress at being stuck in her human form.
