Full name: Lazulpranthus Lazuli the Beguiling, Baroness of the War Harvest, Tenth Heir to the Carmine Throne

Age: According to Laz herself, she's been just shy of one thousand for the past three centuries

Species: Dragon (stuck in more humanoid form for the past decade or so; the reason - unknown)

Orientation: Ace

Background: A former colonel in the Carmine Army, Laz was known for her ruthless battle strategy that left little room for innocents caught in the crossfire. As a result, she was renowned for her brutal yet tantalizing (in its effectiveness) battle strategy, thus her title of "Beguiling" was granted by the Carmine Court shortly after she made rank. About two hundred years ago, following the end of the final war with the sorcerers (the descendants of non-magic humans and dragons), Laz disappeared. She left her noble estate, her titles, and was even demoted in the succession to the Carmine Throne (her noble blood status ensures she will continue to be an heir despite her estrangement). She now resides down a hidden alleyway, around the corner to the right, behind a door tucked beside the dumpster bin in a little one bedroom apartment. She performs archival work for a local public library, reviewing records of the history and evolution of both the Dragon and Sorcerer lines. Much of this work is informed by her own lived experience unbeknownst to her coworkers. No other dragons know her whereabouts (that she is aware of), as she lives almost entirely in her human form. Lately, she's found it's gotten a lot harder to switch back to her true form...

Temperament: Laz is quiet, calculating, but this can sometimes give way to hotheadedness when pressed. She enjoys her alone time, and notably, as compared to others of her species, has never taken a mate. She is manipulative and at times cruel, but over the past several centuries, she has come to struggle with this image. Lately, she's been feeling somewhat self-flagellatory in regard to her past, and has been coming to terms with feeling something akin to guilt.

Abilities: In her true form, Laz can manipulate and twist the fabric of the physical world. She is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and can cast spells without needing to recite an incantation. She possesses multiple breath abilities including fire, water, and poison. In her human form, she is much more limited. Her spells do not hit as hard and she possesses none of her breath abilities.

Appearance: As a human, she is mousy and bespectacled. But in her true form, she towers six stories tall and oozes an inky blue sheen from her scales.

AN: This is mostly a place for me to keep track of my ideas for the character, but if you're looking to rp, feel free to comment or dm! I'm also most likely going to start a world-building thread incorporating the fantasy paleontology and historical elements, as well as eventually making a request thread. I did a mini-roleplay with Laz in an open forum here about her distress at being stuck in her human form.

Full name: Bonnie Juanita Brendshaw

Age: 25

Species: Human Mage of the Carminian Line

Orientation: Pansexual

Background: Bonnie grew up in a small Ohio town along the shores of Lake Erie. She was raised Catholic, and despite having lapsed from the faith, she still retains a connection with the various saints. Her relationship with her parents is civil, yet strained. She moved to New York as a teenager in order to pursue her academic and scholarly goals in studying biology. Fresh out of a biology graduate program (one of the only programs during the 1920s to accept female students), Bonnie moved abroad to Paris to work at a lab as an entomologist. The valedictorian, and only woman, of her graduating class, Bonnie has had to work hard to prove herself in a highly male-dominated field. She is descended from Lazulpranthus on her mother's side, being the ancient dragon's great(x20) niece, but knows nothing of her fantastical heritage.

Temperament: Bonnie is quiet and observant. She keeps to herself, but longs to make more connections with those around her. She often feels isolated, especially in crowded rooms. Most of her time during the day is spent studying or reading for fun. However, at night, she becomes almost a different person. She is well-versed in the nightlife of both New York and Paris, and is hard-pressed to find a drug she hasn't tried at least once before. She is aloof, yet friendly. Alone, yet rarely lonely. Bonnie struggles to bring this bombastic party-going version of herself to her everyday life.

Abilities: Being a latent mage, Bonnie has yet to discover her magical abilities. However, she will soon find that she is able to form psychic connections with animals (especially bugs and reptiles), as well as manipulate physical reality, much like her ancestor.

Appearance: Often seen wearing a suit, Bonnie is not one to wear a flapper dress. She is average-framed and has a plain face, accentuated by flapper makeup and framed by silky brown hair. More often than not is holding a cigar.

AN: Here is a link to the open thread I used to introduce Bonnie.

Full name: She-X Carminian Experiment #01775 ("Shex")

Age: 98

Species: Cyber-Dragon of the Carminian Line

Orientation: Pansexual

Background: Shex was born somewhere around the year 2850, but we cannot know for sure, because her birth records were destroyed. The daughter of a natural-born dragon on her father's side (the Carminian line) and the first cybernetic dragon on her mother's side, Shex is a natural phenomenon, as cybernetics had never advanced to the point of being able to mate with biological organisms until her conception and birth. On her father's side, she is descended from Bonnie Brendshaw as her great(x30) granddaughter. Shex was born in a lab under the supervision of the scientists leading the bio-cyber experiments, but escaped in a fiery inferno after suffering mistreatment, thus destroying everything in the lab and killing everyone inside. Due to her unique origins, powerful people from around the world wish to capture her to understand her inner-workings. For this reason, she has been on the run most of her life, finally settling in the sewer system of New York City. Shex is a scavenger and a survivor but makes friends easily. She runs odd jobs, performing vigilante justice on commission.

Temperament: While being quiet like her ancestors, Shex does have a wilder side that comes out especially during combat. She is known to be quite ruthless when engaged in battle, but only if provoked. She is not one to harm an innocent person. Shex is snarky, combative, and one to crack a joke at inappropriate times. She also has a soft side for all of the creatures of the sewer, and frequently speaks with them in a language no one else can understand. When not engaged in other matters, Shex can be found reading her favorite novels by the light of the bioluminescent NYC sewer algae.

Abilities: Shex has a number of artillery weapons embedded in her cybernetic body. She also has all of the breath powers of her ancestor, Lazulpranthus (fire, water, and poison). Like Bonnie, she can communicate with animals (especially those labeled as vermin). She can also teleport, phase through matter, and become invisible, which are all features bestowed to her by her half-cybernetic form. Along these lines, she can also record and mimic any noise she hears and can manipulate most technology to her whim. While extremely powerful, Shex does not know how to harness this power to its full potential due to her exile and subsequent lack of official training.

Appearance: Shex cannot shift between a human and dragon form, the body she appears in is her only body. She is humanoid, having long, lanky arms and legs, but is covered in sapphire scales. In the gaps between her scales, a bright teal light emanates, her cybernetics giving off a soft glow. Her wings can be folded into her body to the point that they are not visible when they are not deployed.
