Either Needed Let's Cause the End of the World

So, I've seen quite a few post apocolyptic stories and I've even participated in my fair share. But what about what comes before that? I want to play out that story. And not just watch things fall apart... cause it.

The basic idea is a simple one. Super powered humans emerge in a futuristic world, governments respond negatively and my character forms a resistance which your characters join. Mayhem ensues.

The phrasing there matters. CHARACTERS. I want this to be a large enough group to make sense, but I don't want so many players that it falls apart. So we're going to limit ourselves to 3 or 4 total players, but each playing 2-3 characters (These can be introduced gradually or appear as a group. Siblings, lovers, etc, all are permitted). I have a few suggestions here, though no full character sheets.

The other central thing are powers and weaknesses. Here are the rules there:

1. Powers should be reflective of the nature of their user. An invisible character should be someone who blends into the background as part of their nature. A character who produces lightning should have a temper, etc.

2. No useless powers. I've done stories like this before and while astral projection SOUNDS cool... It's pretty much going to reduce your character to uselessness. (Seriously, what is it with Astral projection, It's come up several individual times). Powers thatseem useless but have creative uses that make them useful ARE permitted.

3. No Kryptonite. Weaknesses should be INTERESTING, not a magic substance that renders you powerless. Ideally, it should be a flaw of the power itself. For example, my main character will have powerful element manipulation, but it requires total emotional control. If he lets his emotions get out of hand, he loses control of his powers as well.

4. Extremely powerful characters are allowed, just please nothing undefeatable or absurd.

The general rules:

1. All site rules apply

2. All violence and sexual content will be permitted

3. Characters may die, but this will be discussed ahead of time and permission obtained.

4. Established site members only. Sorry... but I've seen too many group RPs die because a new member signed up only to vanish off the face of the earth.

5. Inform us of all absences.

6. Be prepared to post once a week at minimum

7. We will have a posting order, but with OOC discussion to forgo it for a while if two characters are having a conversation and want it all together.

You don't need to necessarily have a character ready to join. We'll plan them out as we go. Any CS format is fine for those who want to send one, but we will likely end up tweaking powers a bit.

I look forward to hearing from all of you.

If you have a couple roleplays on the site. I mostly just want to avoid people who just arrived jumping on board only to never be heard from again.

Looking at your profile, you would count

I could very well be interested in this. Even though superheroes generally are not my thing, I don't necessarily mind augmented humans, if that makes any sense at all. Not to mention I'm all for anti-status quo organizations. Hence my Shadow run inspired game with Asher, and a few others where I have clandestine activities as a theme.

It does. I want this to be people with powers more than superheroes... flaws, weaknesses and all. PM or Skype me and we can hash out the details.

Eh bauce, sign me up to sho. I love being able to have multiple characters!

I can pull characters out of my rear no problem. I'm thinking about a polygamous three party of characters ;)

I'm doing main character, his girlfriend and likely his little sister.

I might suggest one unromantically connected character Frost, just so there can be tension with other characters more easily.

Oh dang because I've always wanted portray threesome charactes in a roleplay.

If only I'd be so lucky!

We seem to be on our way to 11 characters, so there's almost certainly room for threesomes, love triangles and more.

As long as we don't have the love octagon from my friend's tabletop Star Wars game, I think we'll be okay.
