Hello, I just recently joined, and I'm here to pitch my preferred approach to RP and describe what I am looking for and value in RP and in an RP partner, all in hopes of piquing interest and gauging that interest. So please, let me know what you think and whether or not you'd be interested in interacting with me.
I place a lot of value on world building and lorecrafting. I find it extremely entertaining to both build a world and fill it with stories, and that process has no limit in my opinion - it simply comes down to a matter of preference. I like drawing maps; creating origin myths, divine pantheons, distinct races and cultures; and writing histories for fictional worlds - all those things that really aid in immersion. And I especially enjoy doing those things via RP, then compiling that information for reference in a separate document for reference.
In a story, I highly value conflict, struggle, and consequence. I'll rarely put myself in the shoes of a character when it comes to their actions, and I'm more likely to ask myself, "What would he or she do?" vs. "What would I do?" Flaws, failure, and obstacles all make for interesting character development and interesting situations, and they keep a story from going stale so you'll find that I'm not afraid to allow bad things to happen if I feel that's what, realistically, the story or specific situation warrants, even if said "bad thing" befalls my preferred characters. I am not at all afraid or bothered to role-play a character who lost a limb through his own hubris in underestimating a foe, for example.
As far as plot hooks go, I was just brainstorming. I had a rough idea for an adventure in a high fantasy setting (I think it's fair to assume that any work I pitch is high fantasy, by the way). I will keep it brief intentionally both because the idea still needs more fleshing out and because I don't want to give away anything unless asked.
Hook: Something dark and strange has happened to the quaint, humble forest village of Veruun, and there's only one person who knows what happened - an exiled villager framed for a crime he did not commit. He claims his exile and the problems in the village are connected, and he seeks your help to save his home and to stop the evil that has befallen his village before it grows.
Feel free to ask me any questions about me and my RP preferences and to discuss literary ideas.
