Hello,
I have boldly registered on this beautiful site as the one OC I’d like to roleplay here. Louis has been with me since 1992, but he fully developed into what he has become in 1999, owing to a non-fantasy chat-based freeform RPG named Barbaric Castle on the now defunct irc.bondage.com network, which also had a forum such as this. That lore featured extreme stuff (picture Dark-Age style violence, torture, battles, enslavement, sexual or not, etc.). However, one didn’t have to involve in the D/s lifestyle, as it harbored a highly diverse community, from History buffs and writers to… collarings and brandings. Some people kept their RPG basic and “Gor”-like, while others developed more in-depth characters and long-term stories. My gratitude goes to that little community for having fueled my inspiration into writing a novel about Louis as a tormented medieval executioner.
Since then, I haven’t done much with this character and have been involving more in a Harry Potter site. But I do miss the old days, and I’ve recently reconnected with Louis for a new project involving him.
A fair warning, however: I have no idea, at this point, how this will go, or if I’ll even be able to roleplay him at all again. It’s starting out as a test. So, both Louis and I rely on your indulgence, as well as a non-judgemental open mind, for what I’m about to write next. Because it’s wild.
I have just discovered, after all these years, why my dynamics as a writer with Louis aren’t the same as with any other character I’ve written about since. It is because Louis is more than a character, he’s my Soulbound (or, in my case, my Munbound). Soulbonding is the act of spiritually or mentally connecting with a fully autonomous variant of a fictional or nonfictional person. Some people erroneously refer to this phenomenon as some kind of intense imaginary friend.
This concept is still totally new to me. I’m relieved to earn that I’m not alone, but at the same time a bit afraid of what may come out from writing this. I’ve been told that soulbonders never (?) roleplay their soulbonds, for fear of turning them into puppets; but I’m confident it won’t happen with Louis, firstly because he’s familiar with RPG and secondly, because in light of this new finding, I now understand why I sometimes felt him disengage from an idea or story when it doesn’t work for him.
In conclusion, both Louis and I hope that we’re not creeping you guys out with this concept. If we do, please accept our apologies. We can edit this post or remove it altogether if it’s making anyone comfortable.
We’re pleased to meet you all!
