This is a work in progress. I had more than half of this done originally, and lost it when I accidentally browsed away.
Introduction
As I believe my intro thread shouldn't be required reading, here's a little about me. I've been writing for about as long as I can remember. I loved creative writing assignments in school. I first began to roleplay, in the written word, back in the days of AIM. Then "graduated" to roleplaying via platforms such as LiveJournal, Xynga, generic RP forums, Reddit and email. My writing style has evolved over the years.
Writing style
I write in third person, past tense. Though sometimes my tenses do get a little wobbly. I average around five paragraphs per reply, but I can also get very long. I once wrote a five page reply because of everything that was going on in the story, and I was controlling an NPC as well as my character. This isn't meant to boast, just an example of how much I can write at times. I try to be descriptive and detailed, but I certainly don't match authors such as Tolkien and Martin. I can provide several samples of my writing upon request.
What I look for in a partner
I'm looking for someone with a similar writing style to me. Three to five paragraphs written in third person past tense. Competent grammar and spelling is a must, but we all make mistakes. I'm not looking for perfection, just someone who cares to do their best.
Story vs Smut
The important stuff! In my time writing, I've learned that I just can't write story without some smut. Smutty goodness is natural, a part of life and I hate fading to black. I find a lot can happen to the story and character development during those deliciously smutty scenes. Now, story can definitely get me going, leaving me on the edge of my seat, anxious for more. I need story. The two are equal parts of the same whole. Smut alone gets repetitive, and story alone gets dry.
Pairings
A quick little list with room to grow. Female character is first, followed by male.
- Human or elf/orc
- Human or elf/taur
- Human or elf/Werewolf
- Healer/warrior
- Warrior/wizard
- Human/demon
Settings
- Fantasy - High, low and urban, with a preference for settings in or inspired by Warcraft, Tolkien and D&D.
- Sci-fi - A la settings like Star Trek and Star Wars
- Cyberpunk - Particularly fantasy Cyberpunk like Shadowrun
- Steampunk
- Historical - Victorian, Regency era, and the Old West.
Prompts
What you're here for! Again, a work in progress. I'm always up for ideas not listed here.
Aurora Pendergast, daughter of Arthur Pendergast, was one of the top students at the private Pendergast University. It was no coincidence she shared her name with the prestigious school, as it had been founded by her ancestor Urien Pendergast in 1711. Of course, at that time it had been located in what was now downtown Philadelphia as opposed to the Pennsylvania countryside where it now sat on over seven thousand acres. Her family still owned and operated the school and one day she would run it in place of her father. Presently, however, Aurora was still a junior in college, pursuing her bachelor's degree in business.
Despite its reputation as an elite school for the rich and famous, Arthur had been seeking to remedy that in his tenure. He had created a full ride academic scholarship for a select few students from across the country each year. Those with bright academic futures that might never be able to afford attending university. Varrick Marchand was one of those recipients.
From the day they met before the start of their freshman year, when Aurora had barged into her father's office in her muddy field hockey uniform not realizing he was in a meeting with Varrick, the pair had never gotten along. She found him arrogant. He found her spolied. They bickered whenever they crossed paths.
Only secretly, Aurora had a crush on him. He was tall and handsome with long dark hair and dark eyes. His biting sarcasm, when not directed at her, made Aurora secretly smile. But it was never to be. She'd made a bad first impression, and couldn't keep her temper in control around him because of how embarrassed she was over still liking him after all this time.
She was convinced he'd never like her. That an athletic, preppy girl like her wasn't the type a nerdy loner would be interested in.
As two of the top academic and athletic performers at the university, Arthur had signed the two up for a weeklong inter-collegiate conference. They were meant to have separate rooms, but due to overlooking on the part of the hotel, the pair were now faced with sharing a room.
And one bed.
