hello, i'm marlena! i'm new to this community, but i'm so excited to get my name out there and hopefully connect with some writing partners!
some things about me include:
plots:
i have a plot that i've been playing around with for the last few months and i would love love LOVE to give it some attention!
some things about me include:
- i'm from the pacific standard timezone and i go by she/her pronouns
- i'm working a full time job and pursuing further education, so my posting activity won't be constant, but i'll likely be around to plot, scream about our ocs, and participate in brainrot
- i consider myself a literate writer - my word count ranges from 800 words to well over 2,000, but i typically match my partner
- i can write mxf or fxf pairings, and i have no preference for what role i write for
- outside of the topics that go against site rules, i have no limits - i enjoy darker, more mature themes in my plots, but by no means am i turned off by something lighter
- i love making pinterest boards, spotify playlists, and whatnot for our pairings and characters, but if that isn't your cup of tea, that's totally okay
- love love LOVE side characters and world building - it gives the plot so much more complexity and helps my muse and creativity soar
- enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, friends to lovers
- academia settings: academic rivals, student x professor, sports rivals
- miscommunication and slowburn!!
- fake dating, or better yet, secret/forbidden romances
- forced proximity, one bed
- sunshine/grumpy, morally gray characters
- opposites attract and class/political differences!!
- harry potter: i love writing stories inspired by the marauders era, as well as incorporating darker themes inspired by the deathly hollows and whatnot! as a way to maintain the academic setting, while also respecting site rules and keeping characters above the age of 18, i love to add more school years (rather than end at year 7, students can study up to year 10 or higher depending on what suits the plot).
- the lord of the rings, the hobbit, rings of power
- twilight, the vampire diaries, teen wolf
- the hunger games
- normal people, one day
plots:
i have a plot that i've been playing around with for the last few months and i would love love LOVE to give it some attention!
PLOT:
In the 1920s, eight Mastery students at Hogwarts find themselves caught in the rise of a dangerous political movement called the Covenant of Purity, which preaches that magical bloodlines are weakening through "dilution" and seeks to permanently sever Muggle-borns' ability to inherit magic through ancient blood ritual. As the Ministry implements increasingly oppressive educational decrees under a High Inquisitor who transforms Hogwarts into a surveillance state, the eight form a secret resistance called the Phoenix Society in direct violation of Ministry law. What begins as a student organization documenting injustices and protecting vulnerable classmates evolves into a genuine resistance network as they navigate house prejudices, family betrayals, and their own moral boundaries while Britain hurtles toward the Severance War. By the time they graduate into open conflict in 1927, they've been transformed from idealistic students into hardened soldiers, some losing their lives, others their innocence, all of them forever marked by the choice between complicity and resistance, safety and principle, in a world determined to divide magic by blood.
SETTING:
The plot takes place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1923 to 1927, during the interwar period when the wizarding world mirrors Muggle society's political instability. The eight protagonists are enrolled in Hogwarts' prestigious Mastery Programme—a university-level wing where graduates aged 18 and up study advanced magic in specialized fields under master practitioners. This separate building, the Founder's Wing, grants them more freedom than traditional students: private quarters, unrestricted travel to Hogsmeade, and the ability to apparate. The setting extends beyond Hogwarts to include the Ministry of Magic, where Minister Hector Fawley's weak leadership allows extremist ideology to infiltrate government institutions, and eventually to the battlefields of the Severance War as the conflict spreads across magical Britain and Europe. The 1920s backdrop means no Wolfsbane Potion, more primitive magical technology, and social structures even more rigid than Harry Potter's era, with pure-blood families wielding enormous unchecked power.
MAIN CONFLICT:
A charismatic extremist named Malachai Vance leads the Covenant of Purity, a movement that claims magical bloodlines are weakening through intermarriage with Muggle-borns and that wizardkind will fade within generations unless drastic action is taken. The Covenant's ultimate goal is to complete a ritual using the ancient Bloodstone Crucible, which would permanently rewrite magical inheritance—stripping Muggle-borns of the ability to pass magic to their children and making future "blood mixing" biologically impossible. What begins as fringe rhetoric ("legitimate concerns about magical preservation") gains mainstream acceptance through propaganda, Ministry infiltration, and selective enforcement of laws that target Muggle-borns and half-bloods while ignoring violence against them. By 1926, the Ministry appoints a High Inquisitor at Hogwarts who implements increasingly authoritarian Educational Decrees that ban student organizations, mandate blood status registration, segregate students by heritage, and create an atmosphere of surveillance and fear. The conflict escalates from institutional oppression to open warfare in 1927 when Covenant forces attempt coordinated attacks on Ministries across Europe.
NOTES:
I was thinking the plot would contain one main pairing, while also utilizing multiple background/side characters. However, we could always double up, too!
