Loyal & Faithful | McKenna usually isn't one to get into relationships, being someone that is often nervous that she will lose those that she loves. Despite this though, she will always be loyal and faithful to her partner.

McKenna was always the loud one, the one who always laughed a little too much going down the playground slide, and the one who was always insistent on taking pictures with family and friends whenever she had the chance to "capture the moment".
Throughout school, McKenna and her older sister Averi, just a year her senior, were very close and did everything together, from shopping, discussing relationship woes, to getting their ears pierced together on Averi's birthday.
After Averi graduated high school, she moved out of the house and to a nearby university to study in nursing, where she met her boyfriend. After Averi graduated college, the two married and moved into an apartment not too far from McKenna's.
McKenna went on to study forensic pathology for four years, and another four years in medical school. She is now currently halfway through her residency in Anatomic Pathology with intentions to become a medical examiner. She has two more years of residency and a yearlong fellowship before she can meet her goal.
During school, McKenna and Averi had started to grow apart, simply because of scheduling conflicts. Or so she had herself convinced. Due to the lack of communication between McKenna and Averi, Averi was never able to admit that her husband was always physically and emotionally abusing her, and he had been intentionally making sure that calls between the two were diverted so Averi was forced to say she was too busy to talk.
McKenna's once fun, energetic, and outgoing personality quickly changed she found her sister dead in her apartment, her husband nowhere to be found, with obvious strangulation marks around her neck, and a large variety of bruises and lacerations around her body. After a six month investigation, Averi's husband was found and charged in her murder, and is currently in prison for the rest of his life. It has been a little over three years since Averi's death.
McKenna often blames herself for Averi's death, convinced that if she had paid a little more attention to their short visits and conversations she could have caught onto the abuse and saved her sister before it was too late.
Since Averi's death, McKenna has become very resentful towards men and has overall become relatively reclusive, often fighting with depressive and occasionally suicidal thoughts. She focuses more on the thoughts and feelings of family, friends, and other people that she is close to. Her strong hate for men and the unfortunate passing of her sister led to the creation of the Vigilante.

The Vigilante was created as a way for McKenna to release frustrations and reduce the feeling of guilt she had over her sister's death. Living in a high crime rate city and never leaving it, there is always something going on that is obviously below the law – drug deals, robbery, small-arms trade. Things that shouldn't be happening.
McKenna keeps a police scanner in her apartment for just this reason. When she hears a dispatch call over the radio, domestic violence cases being the most common things she fights for, she tends to come up with some elaborate excuse to get away and get a part of the action. While this seems to help a little towards the high crime rate, police aren't too happy that someone has taken the law into their own hands and are actively searching for the Vigilante.
The Vigilante wields a Glock 19, typically suppressed, and while she has yet to anything more serious than a gunshot wound to the arm or leg, McKenna really isn't the best with the gun. Sure, she has decent aim, but she also has her slip ups. On top of the G19, she also carries around a combat knife. She is also skilled in karate and close quarter combat as she took part in the sport for years and became a black belt.
The Vigilante costume is kept relatively simple, but dark. She has a mask that covers the upper part of her face, just over her cheek bones - something she admits probably needs a little work, a black combat jacket and pair of combat styled pants, and a set of lightweight black tactical boots. She has recently started to wear around a bulletproof vest as an extra measure. A voice modifier is used so that no one can accidentally recognize her voice. The Vigilante has only been helping to fight crime for a little less than six months. Her hideout is a decent sized storage unit she purchased not too far from her apartment.
