Evening Sanctum!

This month is Medieval March on the Sanctum and, once you have attended our Faire, we're planning two movie nights!

As always, we'll be running them on Saturdays, with the first one on Saturday, March 7th.

For the first one, we will be showing medieval period dramas. Kingdom of Heaven, The Last Duel, A Knight's Tale, Outlaw King,

For the second, we'll be showing medieval fantasy movies, like Dragonheart, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Highlander.

I am looking for suggestions for both these streams!! Just as a note, for logistical reasons (they are so long they require an entire stream), we won't be including Lord of the Rings. As I know from experience that demand is high, it might be run as a separate stream this month or next.

Oh, and just to mention, this is not limited to European medieval movies. If you want to suggest a Samurai film or anything else set in this era, let me know. Just also be sure to mention if subtitles are required so I can grab them. For the nerds who want a definition (It's me. I'm the nerds) : Consider anything set between the fall of the Western Roman Empire and the fall of Constantinople fair game for "Medieval" period pieces.

Looking forward to your suggestions!!

  • The Green Knight - not "accurate" but I thought it was very visually interesting!
  • The Northman - definitely for the story >.>
  • Macbeth - if it counts?
  • ETA: The King - that one with whats-his-face-chamblay

Hmm..Two films that came to mind were The Last Samurai and 47 Ronin. I think the first one might be a little too modern (I remember the main character is supposed to be American) but I think the latter qualifies.

I'll post more suggestions as they come to mind.
