In search of 5 or so players for a small adventure through enemy-invested forests and across turbulent seas. This would be similar to Princess Bride- except with a bit more drama and tragedy.

I'm seeking:
21+ players.
Fade-to-black intimate love scenes.
Players willing to post semi-lit - lit responses.
Players willing to post consistently.

I have specific characters in mind, but I'm totally open to alternative suggestions. This has just been something I've wanted to do for some time now, so please don't be offended if I refuse to deviate from what I post here (still, can't stress this enough, just ask!) I'm more of the laid-back friendly kind.

Plot:

The kingdom of Arvil has been cursed with an impenetrable darkness and shadow creatures. At first this encroaching evil was staved off by the Queen's power, but upon her death, the darkness has grown, swallowing the borderlands including unsuspecting villages. There is but one hope of ridding the land of the curse.

The prince must wed a princess with great power.

Since none of the kingdoms would agree to such a lucrative allegiance which would endanger their own, Arvil's king enters an arrangement with a far away kingdom who's princess contains great magical abilities.

On the day of her arrival, the castle is decorated, the prince finely dressed, and the alliance papers signed and ready for the princess's signature, but as the hours pass and the princess's carriage does not make its appearance, it becomes clear that something terrible has transpired.

Alongside the palace guards, the prince storms the cursed forest surrounding the dark mountains- the mountains of which the curse originated and none dare to venture- in search of the lost princess. There they find an empty carriage and the princess's guards all to be slane. With no other choice but to brave his way up the mountains, the prince heads out- but not without the accompaniment of some misfits to help him along the way, including the woman wanted for the disappearance of a very important artifact that the queen had left behind in order to keep the darkness from reaching the capital.

Characters:
Prince: Taken
Thief: Taken
Captain of the Guard, also the Prince's Right-hand Man: Taken
Blind Archer: Taken
Herbalist/Healer: Taken

The princess will not be added, nor the king, as their appearances will be few and far in between. However, if anyone desires to play them, I'm completely fine with that.

I was also thinking some tragedy could be sprinkled into the roleplay. Like perhaps the thief falls for prince, but of course they cannot pursue anything due to the prince's engagement to the princess. Or the blind archer seemingly dies towards the end of their journey, but later is discovered that she/he lives and is then under the influence of the evil sorcerer driving the darkness.

But anyways, let me know what you all think!

I'm interested! As this seems like it could be a fun adventure/drama. In suggestion of the potential undefined character, perhaps a herbalist/healer? Possibly, she's on the scene trying to heal one of the guards close to death, and she explained that she'd been foraging/collecting supplies for her apothecary father.

Love the character idea! I'll wait to fill a few more character roles, then will be posting 😊

Hey, sorry, I'm assuming that you want to play that character, but just want to be certain before I change it. Is that the character you'd like to play?

I'd be interested and I'm down for the premise. Any of your not taken characters all spark ideas- I resonate most with the Captain of the guard or the blind archer, but I feel I could do justice to the prince if you don't get another interested party and have others who feel strongly about who they play.

Sounds great! 🙂

Yes, I was suggesting a character I would play.
Awesome!

Hello there, I'm a literate to semi-literate roleplayer! I was wondering if you'd be interested in someone playing the antagonist sorcerer? I'm sure you already have the reasoning for their motives in mind, but what if the sorcerer was deeply obsessed with the princess? (Sort of like Your Highness but obviously not as ridiculous 😭) If it helps, I could be a casual player, only popping in now and then until a certain part of the story when I'm most needed.
If that's a bit much, I'm also interested in the blind archer! I was thinking, what if they received divine empowerment from the god Hodr of Norse Mythology? (Who is also blind and kinda accidentally killed his brother with a mistletoe arrow lmaoooo)
Let me know if you find any of this interesting! And if it's not exactly what you're looking for, that's totally fine 🫶

Hey! If you are still looking for someone to play the captain of the guard, I have a few ideas:

  • Minor Lord of a noble house: grew up with the prince but family is low status among the nobles so when the prince goes off to find the princess, he is like, this will elevate my house
  • Old gruff soldier who has seen it all: This is his last mission before he can retire
  • Bastard half brother* of the prince: The King had a mistress that he favored and granted his bastard a place in court. He is a bit of a cad, goofing off and gambling. When the princess goes missing, he is pressed into joining the party and serving the prince
    • *If the King would not have a mistress, he could also just be like a third son or something.
    • If I had to chose, this would the one I would enjoy the most playing
Let me know if anything of this sounds interesting!

Hi, there! Thank you for your interest. I think that's an awesome idea. If you'd like, you could play both roles, since the sorcerer wouldn't get as much playing time, but completely up to you. I'm good with either of those ideas. 🙂

Hi, there! Any of those options would fit nicely into the plot, but I tend to agree with you on the last idea. I'll leave the ultimate decision up to you, though!

Perfect! I like the last idea the best. In terms of relationship, whether he is a half brother or just a third son, I don't have a preference. Also can work with the person playing the prince on what they prefer too!

I think the half brother concept would be a nice spin on things and give some room for some relational strain between him and the king, or drives him to be work harder due to him trying to prove himself 🤷‍♀️.

But either way, I look forward to reading what you come up with!

With the other slots filled, you'd have the role as the prince, if that still works? If not, I don't mind hashing out a sixth character with you if you'd rather do something else.

Thank you, I would love that! Would you like me to make a few brief character sheets? You can let me know what fits and what doesn't
Sure!! And I'll start working on the forums asap for everyone.

Hi! For a backstory with my herbalist. I wonder if it's a nice addition that she happens to be born on a night of ill omen, and it makes her susceptible to the influence of an evil antagonist who wants to prevent the curse from being lifted.

there could be a point where the sorcerer tries to corrupt or control her, potentially dividing the group on whether they believe she is a good person or not.

I like it. Could be a point of contention for the group, but also I think it drives home the fact that these aren't your typical saving-the-world heroes, and they have some very real weaknesses that could put their mission at risk.
