Challenge Closed Monthly Writing Challenge — November 2018

Hello Sanctum Dwellers!

Another month, another challenge and for November, with NaNoWriMo already underway, we have decided that this month's challenge will be about keeping a reader wanting more. Writing that point in the story where they decide 'I have to know how this ends'. With that in mind, your prompt for this month:

Write a "hook" scene that makes people want to read the rest of the story, without resolving the major conflict

For this month, rather than telling a whole story in your entry, your goal is to tell just enough of that story to get people hooked. This hook can be the very start of the story or happen a little later on. It can be the inciting incident for your main conflict or a side story within your world and as always the nature, genre and the exact length of the scene are all left to your discretion (please keep all lengths reasonable).

Disclaimers:

1. You are allowed to draw entries from stories you have already written or are writing separately (including for NaNoWriMo), however, if you draw from a roleplay, it MUST be only one of your own posts.

2. All site rules apply as usual, though we do allow protagonists under the age of 18 for challenge entries, so long as nothing sexual or unduly violent occurs to them

3. You are under no obligation to actually finish or even have an exact ending for the story in mind (though of course, it would be great if you did)

Please post all entries as a thread in this forum with a unique title. Deadline is Sunday, November 25th, 2018.

Congratulations to @Syche for winning the October Challenge and thank you to all participants for their excellent work.

Best of luck everyone and we look forward to seeing how you reel us into your stories.
