Movie Nights Movie Streams and Planning Ahead (for once)

I'm with Dispatch: Jurassic Park franchise - that's all, thank you :]

I would say "All the good ones"... But that's just watching the first one 8 times.

I'd love to see a stream dedicated to films about dance, such as the Step Up films. I always find those movies visually appealing, and sometimes do find myself pausing when I see one of them playing on a random channel.

If we want to be a bit more niche, we could do a stream devoted to live-action musicals. A few have come out recently (In the Heights and West Side Story come to mind), and some older musicals are bona fide classics (here's looking at you Singin' in the Rain).

I have no idea about any of those first ones. Literally never even heard of the Step Up films. I would need someone else making the list.

Musicals... That's a possibility. If nothing else, Wicked being really good gives an excuse and we could do a bunch from classic Hollywood.

Mom said she liked Wicked but I haven't yet tuned into it yet though I know it's on Peacock.

Never could get into Cats.

As for JP....I've seen...I think up until the Lost World. Not the new ones.

I'mma put it in here too, to see other folk's thoughts.

Pokemon movies! The original Mewtwo movie, The Jirachi movie, and Detective Pikachu are my current suggestions.

If we were to create a stream devoted to dance movies, I could help. Step Up was just a suggestion because they currently have 6 movies, but here are a few notable "dance" movies:

Dirty Dancing (Just the first one, Havana Nights sucks)
Footloose (I prefer the newer version, but the old one works as well)
Flashdance
Save the Last Dance
Center Stage
Work It
Saturday Night Fever
Burlesque
Strictly Ballroom
Stomp the Yard
Take the Lead
Dance With Me
Shall We Dance?

If you were looking for more series, Honey and Magic Mike have a few movies under their sparkly, breakaway belts. The Bring It On movies are also classified as dance flicks, but cheerleading is the primary focus, and I consider that a whole other genre.

As for Jurassic Park movies, I like them, though I always wondered if the filmmakers knew that Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus Rex were part of the Cretaceous period, but I guess Cretaceous Park didn't roll off the tongue quite as easily.

Pokémon is always a lot of fun, and some of their earlier movies are only an hour long.

How about a stop-motion stream? Too niche? Some favourites include:
  • Isle of Dogs
  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
  • Kubo and the Two Strings
  • Coraline
  • Corpse Bride
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • The House
  • JamesMartin and the Giant Peach

Okay, maybe this is a stupid suggestion… but what about a stream of terrible movies? Stuff that's infamous for low audience scores and just being bad films in general, but in a "so bad it's kinda fun" way. Stuff like Morbius, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, 1998 Godzilla, etc etc

Maybe, if at all possible something like Studio Ghibli? Something like either their more popular, most underrated or even the timeline?
I don't really remember how many movies they have these days but, it could potentially be a fun one?

I'd be onboard with a Studio Ghibli stream. A bunch of their movies are old favorites of mine. Seeing what's available is relatively easy if you or someone you know has an HBOMax account. Studio Ghibli is one of their channels.

I'll have to check out what's available; we used to use another streaming service because they had it in Aus. Recently only just got HBO Max. I know Netflix has them for us still, but I'll have a look at the channels too might be something nice for a general movie night.
