Soliloquy
Knight
Hello Sanctum,
I go by Soliloquy (Lil for short). I live in Pacific Standard Time, and work as a freelance analyst for security companies. I've been off and on roleplaying for a few years now, seeing off and on success with it, as good partners and ideas present themselves.
I carry a torch for Retrofuturism and Alternate history, with a smattering of more traditional Sci-fi. Not that I can't be swayed by compelling characters, strong plot, or a rich setting; we all have our favorites. I tend to pen tragic men and Ellen Ripley-esque women-- survivors all around, really. I go in more for story-based roleplay, but dabble in smut as the need arises.
Roleplaying is important to me because creative narrative discourse is an idea that isn't as popular as it used to be, and its where often unassuming people show fortitude and character. It's the place to flex your imagination-- one of evolution's finest tools in the human struggle for survival, and, perversely, one of life's finest entertainments. Mary Shelley, a personal heroine of mine, wrote Frankenstein as:
- A teenage runaway from home (Britain), having married a man she barely knew (Percy Bysshe Shelley);
- Moved to Switzerland, where she knew no one, spoke no Swiss, and hadn't a cent to her name;
- Having had a miscarriage the previous year, and very probably pregnant during the drafting;
- Stuck in a cabin in the depths of an honest-to-God volcanic winter, trying not to starve;
- With her husband and his limey poet buddies, trying to outspook eachother.
I look forward to meeting you. I will be posting a generalized request thread soon.
