"On the day you were born it stormed so hard that your Mom and Aunt Tilly had to turn the car around three times because the roads were flooded. Your Mom was scared that they wouldn't make it to the hospital on time, but your Aunt Tilly was really brave and she didn't give up. She just kept trying different roads until she made it through."

"When they finally got to the hospital they gave your Mom some really good medicine that made her feel like she was floating, and then she wasn't scared anymore. They also gave her ice chips. She ate a lot of ice chips."

"They wouldn't let her drink any water, just in case. You were breech, you know. That means you were upside down in Mom's tummy. Or maybe its more like right side up. Babies are supposed to come out head first, but you got all turned around. Just like Aunt Tilly looking for a road that wasn't under water. You needed a doctor's help to get turned the right way around, but pretty soon you were on your way."

"No, I couldn't be there, Buddy. I was way across the ocean doing an important job, but I really wished I could be there. That's why I made your Mom and Aunt Tilly tell me everything that happened over and over, so that I could remember too, just like if I'd been there."
