If she could have him for even just one more night, she'd take that...
High up in the ranks of an underground criminal organization, Valentina Duerte has it all. Money, a lavish penthouse, tricked-out cars, custom weapons, designer clothes, love, and loyalty in a found-family that consists of society's refugees... and yet she spends her nights alone.
Her days are fueled by keeping her 'family' reigning, Controlled chaos, careful planning, and selective brutality. She gets the work done by any plan, any means, any strategy. She carefully compartmentalizes her work and her life. Easily transitioning from brutal shoot-outs to dancing at blues clubs. One part general, one part assassin, one part enforcer, she gets the job done, quickly, precisely, and always fighting dirty.
Her life is lived in the fast lane, but she's getting tired. How long can she keep this pace of life? She's dangerously close to burnout, fearful of collapsing beneath the weight of her own myth... or ending up getting gunned down without ceremony, like so many of her contemporaries.
She is haunted by memories of a past relationship with her ex, the only man she's ever loved. After circumstance and stakes tore them apart, she has been unable to move on, looking for him in the faces of strangers, in meaningless one night stands, unable to find him. Perhaps if she found him again... she could keep going.
Will she find a way to double down, or will she escape the Low Life once and for all?
I am looking for anyone wanting to do a modern-day crime plot with this character. I was imagining that perhaps YC is an old flame, someone living a similar life, someone who left after watching her almost die for him, realizing the cost of their bond would shatter him. But they never got over each other... Until, by chance, they meet again.
After a night of aching, disbelieving passion... They decide that living without each other is worse than any alternative.
But at what cost?
They have:
- shared history
- undeniable chemistry
- grief and guilt
- High emotional stakes
This would be a romance against a backdrop of violence and power, history, pain, and devotion, with our characters either inspiring each other to continue living The Life or to escape it altogether.
I have a character sheet plus writing samples from Valentina's perspective, so potential partners can get a feel for what they're in for, available upon request!
