Simon opened the sliding glass door that lead out to the simple balcony he had stepped out onto a thousand times before, he was assaulted with a wall of heat the moment he left the air conditioned apartment and left his face streaming with sweat "god its hot" he mumbled to himself as he stepped closer to the balcony wall.
He looked down to the street and saw hundreds of faces looking back up at him as if he was supposed to impart some pearl of wisdom on them like a sage of old, like he was supposed to right all of the world's wrongs. He didn't know what he was supposed to do or why he was the one they'd come to.
"I don't have any answers for you" he began "the world is a harsh and evil place at times" he continued as he lifted his hand to wipe the sweat from his brow and sighed as the headline from his smart watch showed again "fucking tabloids" he muttered before a realisation hit him like a concrete slab hitting a toddler.
"It's really the end isn't it?" He asked himself before he gripped the balcony wall as his legs went weak "not here for answers" he said as he looked down to the growing crowd, seeing for the first time how unnatural they seemed as a number of them were wearing what seemed to be thick winter coats in the blazing heat of the unseasonably hot day.
Simon closed his eyes and said a silent prayer as he climbed onto the wall of the balcony and stepped forwards, his fall was relatively peaceful as he passed twelve other floors before landing on three members of the crowd, the rest of the crowd barely reacted to the landing. The ones that did, simply bent down and started to eat.
