"In every world, once you die, you're gone."
Prior to official launch, «Sword Art Online» Closed Beta was available to 1,000 Beta Testers for a one month period from August to September of 2022. During that time, Sword Art Online was lauded as an incredible experience, and it received extremely positive reviews despite the actual difficulty of the game (over the one month period, the Beta Testers had only reached the 10th Floor). After the Closed Beta Testing ended, the Beta Testers were given the opportunity to pre-order the game.
Only 10,000 copies were printed in the first batch of the game, and online sales sold out within seconds. Hardcore gamers waited, camped in lines for days on end to purchase the first few selection of copies from available stores.
Sword Art Online officially started server service at 1 PM of November 6, 2022. Following the game's initial launch, players quickly discovered that they could not log out from the game. Quickly thereafter, they were forcibly teleported to the Town of Beginnings, and a terrifying message from the game's developer was delivered.
"Attention players, I welcome you to the world of Sword Art Online. My name is Akihiko Kayaba, and as of this moment, I am in control of this realm. I'm sure most of you have already noticed an item missing from your main menus — the logout button. Let me assure you, this is not a defect of the game. I repeat, this is not a defect. This is how Sword Art Online was designed to be created. You cannot log yourselves out of the game and no one from the outside world will be able to shut down or remove the Nerve Gear from your head. If any attempts are made to do so, a transmitter inside the helmet will discharge a microwave signal into your skull, destroying your brain and ending your life."
With access to the logout menu restricted, the singular way for all ten-thousand players to escape the game was to clear Aincrad's 100 levels. Following Kayaba's message, there was a significant spike in player deaths, most stemming from suicides. As many as 2000 people died within the first month.
6 months have passed since then and players have learned to adapt to life inside the game. Guilds have formed, floors are being slowly but steadily cleared, and some believe that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. One of the largest leading groups on the front lines to escape Aincrad, the Legion of Light, has done wonders for the people trapped within Sword Art Online by way of organization, rigorous training, top of the line gear, and notable raids on the boss rooms. Their reputation has become that of legends.
But with only 25 levels cleared, countless dangers still await, and many players may not make it to see the end . . .

Hello, reader! My name is Lia. I'm eighteen years old, female, and looking to write a romance, drama, and action-oriented roleplay that takes place in the Sword Art Online universe. Our story will follow the adventures of your character and mine as they are thrust into the digital world of Aincrad. However, things take a deadly turn when the highly anticipated game becomes something much more sinister as players discover they can't escape of their own will, but must play to victory or to death.
This roleplay is strictly FxM (with myself portraying the role of the female character) so please don't inquire about or request pairings that deviate from that.
I don't double, but I'm more than happy to write side characters of either gender to help move the story along!
I enjoy taking on as many partners as I can manage, which means that even if you happen to come across my request at a later date, I'm likely still looking!
As your roleplaying partner, I'll update my status if I think I'll be delayed for a while. I do work and go to school, so my hours and availability change frequently; sometimes I'll have three days off in a row, other times I will have full 8 hour long shifts, which means less responses. All I ask for is your patience during that time frame. I will gladly afford you the same courtesy!
I'm a big fan of romance and using face claims, and I'm the type to make pinterest boards, spam you with gifs, headcanons, and send you a playlist full of songs dedicated to our characters! I'm easily excited by the idea of our OCs being cute or getting into trouble. I live for these sorts of things, honestly.
Some OOC talk is appreciated, but not required! I'm introvert-friendly. As long as we can communicate effectively about our story, the rest is a non-issue.
I'm in this for the long haul. I want a story that can take us up to a year to complete, and I've got the patience and stamina to do it. I'm not here for quick and easy stories. Give me big plots or give me DEATH.

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ GUIDELINES ˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
( 1 ) You must be literate to advanced literate and comfortable with a third person paragraph writing style. I am typically looking for someone who can use appropriate grammar and cohesive writing. Response length varies depending on the scene. I understand you don't need a novel to say "Yeah, I can get the job done for you." My base requirement, however is at the very least, 2-3 clear and concise paragraphs.
( 2 ) I understand that we have different priorities outside of roleplay, and life sometimes just happens. That's not a problem whatsoever. Whenever life happens for me, I at least find the time to send a message reading: "Hey, sorry, got pulled away. Don't know if I'll be back today, but tomorrow looks good!" I expect the same from you. Whenever you can announce that you won't be able to respond for "x" amount of time, please do announce it. As long as we can communicate effectively, the rest is a non-issue.
( 3 ) To piggyback off of my previous statement, I will usually send a text out-of-character after three days of no response with no prior communication. If three more days have passed since my last check-in, I will assume that you are no longer interested, and remove myself from the conversation.
( 4 ) I very much prefer one-on-one RPs in which both partners are present, concentrating, and eager. That being said, I do find a lack of enthusiasm to be a struggle for interest. Please be invested and actively engaged with the roleplay.
( 5 ) Please respect my rules regarding mature content. I'm looking for all types of relationships - romantic, platonic, family, friends, enemies, and everything in between! That being said, while mature themes will be in my plots, and are even encouraged, there needs to be good chemistry between our characters before ERP occurs! As a lover of slowburn, it should evolve naturally and it has to be consensual. Both parties have to be conscenting adults and I will never do incest or underage sex. Overall, our story must be story based, not smut based.
( 6 ) You must be able to introduce new ideas throughout the roleplay. Make suggestions, throw out new concepts, press for conflict — be actively engaged! I am not a game master, and I do not intend to act as one.
( 7 ) Please be prepared to play several characters, not necessarily at once. I love interweaving story-lines and switching things up. A plot rises and falls with its characters and their relationships; society and interpersonal dealings are the most important aspect to me.
That's … already a lot to go through! So I'm not going to bore you with anymore details - or outrage you with my overly specific requirements. If you find yourself interested in roleplaying, send me a message introducing yourself and a possible concept of the character you would like to write! We can workshop OCs and discuss the plot further during a more in-depth conversation on Discord. Low effort responses will be ignored.
