They started by selling their own creations, and slowly, the business morphed into a large, professional jewelry shop with some of their own work on the side. Business boomed and everything was fine...

Julianna stayed late one evening to close the shop. The ladies said their goodbyes and Caroline left for the night. Within the hour, she received a call from the security company. Caroline rushed back to the store to find the front window glass shattered on the sidewalk and police cars surrounding the scene. The cases had been raised, and Julianna's body lie on the floor, a single gunshot wound through her chest.

Outraged, Helena stormed out of the castle one night, taking with her a few belongings and a horse from the stables. She set out for what she had hoped would be a cathartic ride, and it wasn't until the sun was nearly risen that she realized she had gotten herself lost.

Like any other kid her age, she also closely followed the stories of the masked avenger, Spider-Man, with great interest. By comparison, her life seemed downright boring, but Alyssa eventually decided that maybe it was all for the better.
After high school, her interest in wild news pursuits dwindled as her studies consumed all of her spare time. The rare moments she had outside of labs, libraries, and residency, she spent wandering around Central Park, trying to catch a break. The excited child in her heart hoped that she might one day catch a glimpse of the notorious Spider-Man, but she always waved away the thought. There are bigger things in this world than daydreaming about a mysterious hero.

From a young age, Rhapsody found herself enamored with everything scientific. For her seventh birthday, she asked for a telescope. For her thirteenth, a chemistry set. In high school, she took up tutoring other students in math and sciences while she kept pace with her own schedule, packed to the brim with AP courses. She graduated from high school a year early with high honors, and one of the leading scientific universities in the country picked her up on a full-ride scholarship.
She filled her schedule with work and study, leaving very little time to socialize. Sleepless nights were spent in labs and at the observatory, and, partnered with her favorite professor, she released her first major breakthrough discovery on gravitational waves at the age of 21. Her thesis study was a thought experiment on the concept of time travel and how it could be possible to send people back in time. Fascinating as her paper was, the review board said it simply wasn't possible.
That feedback became the driving force behind her studies. Her Master's and Doctoral studies focused on quantum physics and the manipulation of particles on a subatomic level, followed by an attempt to replicate the effects of quantum Bayesianism and particle phasing on a larger scale, moving whole sets of particles in and out of reality together. If she could break free from the single time-stream existence that modern science revolved around, she believed she could tunnel through to a parallel universe and maybe, just maybe, find a way to make time travel a reality.

Time and again, she was turned away in favor of other, more talented and experienced actresses. During an audition for the role of an extra in a small movie, Felicity caught the attention of Bebe Del Rio, an older actress who had built a career and a reputation on Callisto. After the audition, Bebe approached Felicity and offered to help her find her place on the moon.

Functioning as her mentor, coach, and source of connections, Bebe helped Felicity get in touch with an old friend of hers, Marty Daniels, who worked as an agent. Now working through a representative, doors started to open for the young starlet from Io. Roles as film extras became roles as minor appearance characters. Once or twice, she had made it into the final round of auditions for more prominent supporting cast members. Each time, Marty would assure her that "this time, I'm sure you'll make it big, kid."

Following an audition for the most prominent role she'd auditioned for yet, Felicity had plans to meet Bebe for dinner at a local Callistan-Thai restaurant. Arriving a few minutes late, she was surprised to see that her friend wasn't already seated inside. She found a table and waited...

Born on a farm to two parents and six elder siblings, Yulissa never had it easy. She was put to work at a task as soon as she was old enough to do it, and often, her siblings were happy to pass her their chores when it suited them. Occasionally, she would have time in the evenings to go out and play with her brother, Nero, who was only a couple of years older than her and by far the nicest of her siblings. They often sparred with sticks or climbed trees in the orchard, but never ventured out of earshot for fear of a lashing from their father.
As she got older, she watched her four older sisters marry and leave, eventually leaving Nero, her oldest brother James, and her at the homestead with their parents. When the war started, both of her brothers were drafted. Her father tried to join but was turned away, leaving him feeling quietly bitter toward his sons. Yulissa, then, was left to do much of the work on her own.
She is a strong and capable woman with a hot temper and never enough sleep. She works tirelessly, never stopping until chores are done and everyone else is settled. Though she is unmarried, it has been by her own choice, always insisting that now is no time for a husband, with a farm to run and all the good men off to war.

Bio: The youngest daughter to a drunken father and a spineless mother, Melinoe left home at the age of 14 after years of being beaten, along with her older sister and mother. When she woke, she was surrounded by cloaked figured speaking amongst themselves in hushed tones. A solitary figure wrapped in an embellished cape stepped forward and extended a hand to her. The others fell silent. She took it and began her new life as a member of the Order of Chaos, worshipping the Forgotten God and training in combat to someday avenge and free Him.
During her eleventh year with the knights, the head of the Order was murdered. She captained a search party to find the traitor who had killed her adoptive father. The culprit, another member of the order who had become restless while waiting for a group to mobilize in search of the Forsaken One, was beheaded before the group as payment for his treachery. By unanimous decision, Melinoe was appointed the new leader, but she declined, ceding power instead to her adoptive father's most trusted friend. Spurred by recent actions, the new leader announced Melinoe as one of the two knights who would take on the quest to free the Forgotten God.

Koltak studied biology and astronomy on their homeworld prior to leaving Gliese at age 20 to travel the stars and learn more about life off-world. Born and raised practically next door to Starfleet Academy, Jeremy always carried aspirations to live and travel among the stars. His preliminary schooling allowed him to focus on Earth sciences, but Starfleet was where he finally had the opportunity to take his interest in planetary geology to its full potential. His first assignment after graduation was onboard a small science vessel that patrolled nearby systems. After several years aboard that ship, he finally had the opportunity of a lifetime when they set course for a planet that was directly in the path of a rogue asteroid the size of Earth's moon. The ship parked itself at a safe distance for a week while Jeremy and the rest of the scientists onboard took advantage of the rare opportunity to study a planetary merger.
Shortly after the research mission surrounding the destruction of the uninhabited planet, Jeremy published a series of papers about the composition of rocky planets and the effects of large-body impacts on class-M and similar planets. Although the studies never gained any particularly notable attention, they were well enough received by the scientific community that Jeremy was transferred off of the small science vessel and onto the much larger and better equipped USS Babel. There, he assumed the role of Head of Geology and resident expert in planetary geology.

Renetta graduated at the top of her class in Starfleet Academy, but for as much as she loved her studies, she always looked forward to her trips back home. Winter break was always her favorite. Back home in Alberta, she and her brothers would play lake hockey with the neighborhood kids they had grown up with. Of the lot of them, she and one other boy -- the opposing team's right defenseman -- had been the only ones to go to Starfleet. He'd chosen to take the tactical route while she had followed the science course. While she was a skilled skater and a smart teammate to have on the ice, her demeanor took on a much softer and quieter form outside of hockey. Her friends often joked that she was most comfortable around others when covered in thick padding, but as much as she hated to admit it, there was an element of truth to the statement. With the exception of a few close friends, she often preferred to keep to herself and her studies rather than going to large social events.

Her high marks at the Academy and continuing research after graduation had earned her a choice spot on a brand new starship, the USS Babel. Her position as their resident quantum theorist both excited and terrified her. She knew that she was qualified for the job, but the prospect of being isolated from her peers onboard a starship was somewhat daunting. Even more intimidating than the idea of being the sole scientist in her field aboard the ship was the thought of being the youngest member of the crew, at least in her division. She hadn't seen the ship's register, but chances were pretty high that there wouldn't be many newbies among the ranks on the Babel, or so she imagined. Renetta had heard about the countless opportunities for research that could be found abroad. Imagining the endless expanses of space as her new "padding," she prepared herself for a new life onboard the ship to the stars.
