Yo, the name's Batcat, though I also go by Bat, Niv, Niveous, or Niveousangel, male, age 31. I do ask that you forgive the generic/cookie-cutter introduction here, as I've gotten no where near enough sleep for the day and still got a solid 13 or 14 hours before I can lay down again.

I've been RPing for most of my life now, starting around the age of 14 or 15. I've even built and helped run my own forum (with the help of a few friends, of course), including building the host server up from scratch (don't ask me how, all I remember is asking a friend quite a few questions and following a guide. I just know it involved Linux and lots of sleepless nights trying to work out kinks. Still one of my favorite recent experiences and really helped kick start my interest in cyber-security more than it already was).

As for preferences, I tend to favor 1x1 over groups, but that's not to say I'm against joining a group game if the plot interests me enough. Genre wise, I tend to lean heavily into mature dark "semi"-fantasy (I say semi mainly because it's more or less modern times/reality, but with fantasy elements added in. Think mutants, demons, vampires, dragons, etc. I'm sure there's a term for that style, but I can't think of it at the moment) romance with a good amount of action thrown in. Though I tend to shy away from pure slice-of-life, I know a good romance story can't flourish without some slice-of-life sprinkled in.

As far as plot/story length goes, I tend to get overly ambitious the more into a story I get. I'll be coming up with various plot ideas and twists, sharing them with whoever I'm writing with, adding more and more to the plot until it gets to the point where we could turn it into a novel if we really wanted to. It's not uncommon for stories to turn into multi part RPs that interconnect.

Aside from writing, gaming is probably my largest hobby by far. My competitive gaming days are behind me, so I tend to focus more on cooperative games when it comes to multiplayer. Currently bashing my head against the wall grinding through a mod pack for Minecraft that takes about 4,000 hours to complete... On average... For a group of four... I'm going at it alone... Other than gaming, I also like to collect and build Gunpla whenever I have some spare cash to toss around and the inventory gods decide to bless me with in-stock products.

Welcome to the sanctum! There are a bunch of amazing writers here and I'm sure you'll find one or more of them to share with soon!

If you have any questions while exploring there are always a few friendly folks in chat at any given time.

Hello there and welcome! We have similar genre interests. If you're looking for a writing partner, I'm interested.

I started roleplaying back when I was in HS as well. I remember Yahoo Chatrooms and Yahoo groups, AIM, and MySpace. I don't know what Gunpla is but I'm intrigued.

Gunpla is short for Gundam Plastic Model Kits. Basically snap together models that are extremely fun to put together if you like messing with tiny pieces of plastic lol. Here's a few of the ones that I have

And yeah, definitely on the writing! Though I can't promise anything for tonight, as it's gonna be a loooong night and I've gotta try to stay up so I don't risk ruining my sleep schedule lol

OH. Dude. I had a few of those when I was in High School. I assembled Duo's Deathscythe from Gundam Wing. When I was in HS, Gundam Wing was a popular anime and I used to collect the episodes on VHS. lol I thought it was a lot of fun, wish I still had mine. The ones you put together look awesome! And don't worry. I had 4 hours of sleep last night, and worked today, my brain is shot as far as doing creativity.

Oh man, Heavy Arms Custom is probably next on my to-buy list, but I need to find one that isn't like $300+. The grade/difficulty/scale it's at is usually between $50 and $110 depending on the kit. It's just so rare. I'm also waiting for an updated Deathscythe to be released because I've heard the current one they have is kinda showing it's age in terms of the build mechanics and what not.

I'm trying to remember how much it cost back then. It definitely wasn't even $50 otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get it. But like...stuff wasn't as expensive back then. I can't believe those prices, but they do look complex and high quality. I hope they get it out soon. I haven't kept up on the Gundam stuff, but I still think mecha is cool and well-designed.

The pricing and quality/scale depends on the grade. High Grade is one of the lower grades (I think Entry Grade is a thing at like $10, but it's literally a single kit (fun fact, it's the same model as the tall one back right in the picture, only much smaller and much much more simple to put together) so I don't really count it.) and are usually about $25. They're relatively easy to put together and great for beginners and just to collect. They're alright in terms of poseability and usually come with a small sheet of stickers. They're 1/144 scale at around 5 to 6 inches tall. I have a decent collection of them which I would share, but currently am suffering from feline paralysis with the cat asleep on my lap.

Real Grade is the same size and scale as HG, but a bit pricer at around $40 to $70. They're a lot more detailed than HG, can be posed far more easily, and usually come with a lot more stickers.

Master Grade is 1/100 and 7-8 inches tall. These are about the same detail as RG, only larger. They can range from about $50 to $100, depending on the kit (or more depending on the rarity). They also tend to be the most poseable of the grades.

There's a sub-grade of MG called Master Grade Ver. Ka. which are the same as MG, but they're re-imaginings by Hajime Katori and tend to be closer to what a Gundam would look like in real life. These are usually $80 to $140 and tend to be more detailed than the standard MG. They also come with water slide decals, which look much better when applied than standard decal stickers, albeit a bit more finicky to apply. There's only a handful of them on the market at the moment. The Wing Zero Endless Waltz in the center of the picture is a Ver. Ka. and far and away my all time favorite Gundam. Those angel wings paired with the twin buster cannons are just *chefs kiss*

Now, Real Grade is where the big boy kits are. 1/60 scale and standing at a whopping 12-13 inches, these sucks will cost you anywhere from $300 to $500 depending on the kit and if it has a separate LED kit. Yes, the RG kits light up. I have a picture somewhere on my phone demonstrating it, but it's out of reach atm. If you want a kit that will take you a few days, bare minimum, to put together while covering at least a table and a half in plastic sheets, get yourself a RG. I only have one I got as a birthday gift a few years back and it's by far my favorite kit I've ever put together. It's the big one back right.

The Zoid, on the other hand, is something else entirely, but still technically Gunpla. I have my eyes on another Zoid kit, but it's a bit pricy and need to catch it when it's actually in stock.

Edit- Cat got up, here's the rest of the collection plus something I think you'll particularly enjoy as a Gundam Wing fan :D
