Who are you, how long have you been writing and what kind of things do you like to write?
Hiya! I'm Pocket! I've been writing on and off for around 8 years. I started on a little app called Amino, quit that around 2020, and moved to discord. Now that discord is destroying itself (or at least it was last I checked), I am here :3
I enjoy writing more lighthearted stories. I tend to lean into a more comedic story that still has serious moments. Like the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Action, drama, and romance are obviously not out of the question but the general tone of it would mostly be lighthearted. I mainly write in Sci-fi settings. Most of which include some sort of interstellar/intergalactic travel. That does not mean I am not open to light fantasy. Dark fantasy is a hard pass for me as it tends to be too graphic and complex.
How long do your replies tend to be and what is your writing schedule like?
I haven't roleplayed in a while. I can at least say that as of the very most recent time I've roleplayed (about 3 years ago) I can probably say that I write around 2 - 3 paragraphs per post. Maybe more depending on the situation. I always try and shoot for a minimum of two paragraphs per post and always try to be as descriptive that my human brain can come up with. On that note, I do not use AI to write absolutely anything for me.
I work full time. Most of my availability falls on early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends. I try to shoot for one or two replies a day. I'll write on breaks and my lunch if I can. Due to the nature of my job I go to bed quite early compared to the average 22 year old. 9PM MST is usually when I turn in for the night. There is never a need to wait until I am online to respond to a roleplay.
What is your tolerance level for gore? Violence?
For gore, it's next to nothing. I can stand the description of a cut or something like that. But I do actually have the experience of losing my lunch on a $400 mechanical keyboard from reading some pretty heavy descriptions of gore. For the sake of my current keyboard (and my health I suppose), I would prefer not to read something like that.
Violence on the other hand is something I'm alright with doing. Obviously not 24/7. I can only come up with so many one liners during a battle.
Should note that Violence being allowed does not equal horror. I don't like the scary.
Do you write any fandoms?
Not currently. This can change as I become more and more active again. But for now I am sticking to original settings and characters.
Do you have any pairing or setting ideas?
I'm open to Science fiction and light fantasy settings specifically. Worldbuilding is also something I'm very much open to doing. It's something I haven't done in a long while though so I am sure that I'll be about as rusty as my roleplaying is.
I can do platonic or romantic dynamics. Polar opposite pairings such as "sunshine and grumpy" pairings are my favorite in terms of both platonic and romantic relationships.
Do you have any detailed plots prepared?
Not currently. Of course I'm always open to coming up with something together, or if you already have a few plot ideas in mind I’m open to that too!
A lot of the roleplays I did 3 years ago were mostly character specific. After losing my Gmail account to a hack, I lost them entirely.
Do you have any characters you want to write?
As of right now I do not have any characters at all. Like I said in the last section I lost them all after losing my Gmail Account. As I get properly settled in though, this will change, and will probably be replaced with a storage thread like I’ve seen elsewhere on the site.
I usually use an anime-style picrew for character references. I do not personally feel comfortable with using photos of a real person, or characters drawn in a realistic artstyle for a faceclaim.
I will never accept a character that uses an AI generated image for the reference. If you're not sure I can go off of a description just fine!
I can play either side of the MxF pairing and do not require my partner to be of a specific gender to roleplay with me. I am furry/neko (cat-girl/boy)/other animal-human hybrid friendly (in fact I encourage it!).
Any additional notes you want to add?
To be completely honest, I am not the best at initiating OOC chatter. I will participate in it but I have a bit of anxiety related to discord incidents where someone wasn't open to ooc chatter that was unrelated to the roleplay. Haven't been good at it since. I'm sure after a couple OOC conversations I'll get better at it. I really made this request thread because I am quite anxious about asking someone directly for RP, due to past experiences I've had. Especially so on a site format I’m not familiar with. I’ve never been on a forum for any reason, even outside of RP so of course that makes that anxiety spike a little higher.
