Yanagi region
The Yanagi region is a baffling and mystifying marvel… one continent, containing several different connected biomes. A phenomenon completely unheard of before.
The tropical coastal province of Nikkō, the exotic desert province Sunaarashi, the treacherous tunda province Tsundora, the sweltering mountainous volcanic province Yōgan, the breathtakingly ethereal flowers and the majestic forest province of Mori. Each with their own unique civilization of people and governor, themed gym and mythological pokemon guardian.
It is said that the legendary Ho-Oh makes his home somewhere within the tree tops of Mori's most sacred and cherished trees, a great sequoia of titan-like width and height, it's green top poking past the white fluffy clouds above.
Team Blue Blood
Leader: Hikaru Saikō
Team Blue Blood is a group dedicated to returning to the Yanagi Region back to it's former power structure as it was 100 years ago… when the the entirety of the Yanagi Region was controlled by a King and the king himself decided among his most loyal followers whom would oversee each of the provinces for him.
Team Blue Blood is working on capturing and obtaining the most powerful pokemon they can by any means necessary as they prepare to go to war and reclaim the Yanagi Region, with the last living descendant of the royal line as king, Hikaru Saikō.
Each of Hikaru's most prized lieutenants have been promised control over one of the provinces as reward for their loyalty and service to him.
A piece of Yanagi Region history: Age of Kings
The problem with Team Blue Blood's plans was that in the era of kings, the last few kings that the Yanagi Region had were corrupt and took terrible advantage of the power they wielded over the peoples and the pokemon within the various provinces.
The last king, King Shigure Saikō, he was by far the worst to be produced by his bloodline, he viewed pokemon as nothing more than tools… tools that he as king was within his rights to use and discard however he wished.
After so many generations of god awful kings and watching pokemon take the worst of the abuse, the people of Yanagi decided enough was enough and banded together to end this reign of tyranny forever.
They challenged the king and all of the regents loyal to him to a tournament. If the King and his goons lost the tournament, Shigure would abdicate the throne and surrender control of Yanagi to the people.
If they lost, the champions opposing the king would enlist in his army and the people would accept his absolute power over all of them.
The most elite pokemon trainer from each province was chosen to oppose the regents.
Now as the story goes, one trainer volunteered to go deep into the heart of the Mori forest and seek the blessing of Ho-Oh in order to defeat the king.
This trainer is said to have been young man of the purest heart, by the name of Daisuke Hirameki… he forged bravely through the dense forest with only his loyal Sceptile by his side, they reached the great sequoia where Ho-Oh was said to nest… Daisuke got down on his knees to offer a prayer and a plea for help in the name of justice and everything good.
Ho-Oh answered Daisuke. He told the brave trainer, pure of heart and soul, to go and challenge the king… when he was needed, he would arrive and aid Daisuke.
The legend goes on to say that the trainers were victorious over the regents, defeating them easily through clever wit, skill and the powerful bonds of love they shared with their pokemon.
When Daisuke challenge the king with Sceptile, the two fought fiercely, their determination and passion to see a freed Yanagi Region fueling them… but the king, he did not believe in playing fair, he had given his own pokemon a power boosting potion before the battle… and it wasn't too long before it began to look bleak for Daisuke and Sceptile.
Then, when it felt like all hope was lost… the stained glass ceiling of the throne room was shattered and down descended the great Ho-Oh…
"King of Greed and Cruelty… Dishonor and Deception are among your crimes this day… in the name of justice and light… I will now fight alongside the noble Daisuke…"
King Shigure was defeated with ease through the teamwork of Daisuke, Sceptile and Ho-Oh… the Yanagi Region was free.
The people of the Provinces formed a council to help make decisions that effected their continent as a whole and voted in fair and wise governors to oversee the affairs of the individual provinces.
It is said that Ho-Oh told Daisuke before returning to his nest "Should Yanagi become enslaved in chains once more, send another champion of your choosing to me… should this champion be pure of heart and soul… I will intervene once more…"
