INSPIRATIONS: Slay the Princess; Outlast Trials; Myth of Sisyphus (not Albert Camus' essay)

Ephyra Life Sciences (ELS), an elite medical supplier and research company, has invited a group of strangers to take part in a new project that is part social experiment, part 24-hour security guard job.

The participants are brought to an ELS research facility, where a mysterious young man is held prisoner. ELS tells the participants that the young man is Death, captured and imprisoned in human form. The participants' objective is to keep Death imprisoned by any means necessary, including constant sedation and (if necessary) torture.

Each of the participants has a loved one who is at death's door for one reason or another: illness, injury, etc. ELS is providing medical care for the loved ones, but warns the participants that their loved ones are only alive right now because Death is imprisoned. If Death escapes, the loved ones will die instantly.

AVAILABLE ROLES: The participants, primarily. (More roles may be added later if needed.
I myself will be playing Death.

Good evening, volunteers.

Welcome to the Research & Development Division of Ephyra Life Sciences Inc., where your life is always in good hands. Proud to be the most highly-rated medical research and supply company in the tri-state area.

You have all been invited to take part in a long-term behavioral study, as part of our most ambitious project to date.

Each of you has a loved one who is terminally ill or injured. Every doctor who sees them insists that there's no hope left for them. But we at Ephyra Life Sciences beg to differ. In gratitude for your contributions, ELS has arranged all necessary medical care and treatment for your loved ones at no cost to you. For the duration of this study, our bleeding-edge, life-saving medical technology and resources will be entirely at the disposal of your loved ones, keeping them alive and as healthy and comfortable as humanly possible. And as our research continues to advance, it is only a matter of time before your loved ones can be healed completely.

However, the success of our efforts and the survival of your loved ones will depend on one critical factor.

You may have noticed by now that you are not alone. There is a young man in the room with you, securely chained within a state-of-the-art proprietary containment field. He is currently unconscious, but when he wakes up, he will try to escape.

That young man...
is Death.

You heard that right, volunteers. In our most astonishing breakthrough yet, ELS has managed to quite literally capture Death itself. Death's captivity allows us to keep your loved ones alive. But should he ever escape from this facility, Death will immediately claim his due, and all of your loved ones will die.

Your job, needless to say, is to keep Death secured at all costs. To that end, the containment field is specially designed to restrict Death to a solid human form, and both the containment field and Death's bindings have been equipped with various tools to keep Death subdued at the touch of a button. These include sedative injections, controlled electrical shocks... and if need be, various other methods tantamount to physical torture. We understand that such methods are distasteful, but they are an unfortunate necessity. If allowed to reach full strength, Death can and will escape his confines with ease, which would mean certain death for your loved ones.

Lastly, we must urge you all not to underestimate Death. He will beg. He will lie. He will threaten. He will cry in pain. He will do whatever it takes to escape, and will not hesitate to manipulate each of you if it will set him free.

A team of doctors and psychiatrists will be on call at all times should you require any counseling or medical assistance. You will also be duly compensated for your contributions to this project, and for any damages incurred as a result of your participation.

Thank you for your invaluable contributions to our life-saving research!

Your life is in good hands.
