Necca
Salty Dog
Ahoy!
I'm glad to find my moorings here at the Sanctum...
When I was but a lad, I sailed the RP shores of another site, often returning to its fair-weathered waters to spin my yarns, hear the stories of those with far more talent, and tell tales taller than the sea is deep with a motley crew of misfits and scallywags. Genre held little limit for my preferences, though I thrived when creating grand fantastical worlds and large-scale epics involving ever-growing numbers of writers. While I'd initially preferred playing reluctant hero-types (of which I had several), my portfolio of characters grew to include vicious criminals, conniving politicians, lords of darkness, morbidly obese disgraced knights, crippled mages, pockmarked lackeys, cellist Elven pirates, unfaithful guardsmen, and the son of the Sheriff of Nottingham, to name but a few.
In time, real life obligations interfered with my ability to participate as regularly as I'd have liked, and I soon sailed away from forum-based roleplay for some years. In that time, the other site was shut down and completely scuttled, its hapless refugees fleeing to another RP site. The worst tragedy of all was the loss of the countless literary treasures created by the site's once-vibrant community; the fruits of our labors turned to dust and disappeared forever.
As for me, I've continued to write and world build. However, I sincerely miss the collaborative nature of forum-based roleplay. I miss honing my craft and receiving feedback. I miss the excitement of reading new posts by writers who share your enthusiasm.
I can no longer deny the siren's call, and it seems this site now sings its sweet song.
Here's to whatever grand adventures this new home port might hold!
