The Vanguard of Hope.jpg

Name: The Vanguard of Hope. Or Hope as most call her.
Age: Unknown
Gender: Female
Species: Angel
Weapons/Powers: Enhanced strength, minor regenerative abilities. Short bursts of speed. Weapons consist of whatever she can locate.
Story: Thousands of years ago, a female angel interferred with the affairs of mortals and was cast down for her actions. She had sank the majority of the Persian fleet in the ancient wars in Greece. She fought with the famous three hundred Spartans. She aided Hannibal in the Punic Wars as a soldier and served under him. She enjoyed fighting and intervening. She thought she could do so without punishment but she was wrong. At the height of the Roman Empire, she was summoned before the council. It is unknown what occured but the trial lasted a year. She was sentenced to live amongst mortals, to be banished from Heaven and to have her wings removed in front of her peers. She did not beg for forgiveness and openly spoke about how everyone did nothing whilst mortals actually lived. She was disagraced and her name, removed from history. Cast down from the heavens, she vowed to continue to work as a warrior and she did. Her skills were honed in the ways of the sword. Her mind studied tactics and she fought for and against the Romans. If the side was losing, she was known to show up for the challenge. She has fought in every major war and within a century, began to refer to herself as Vanguard.

When Hell invaded, she knew humanity had little to no chance and fought in the opening battles of the war. She felt smug when Angels appeared and ever since she came to Camp Hope, she has been doing what she can to aid the cause.

Sorry for the late entry, but I've been circling this thread for a few days wondering if it was dead. Now that I can see it's still thriving, I'm jealous and want a piece of the action. I was planning on using the character below to try and infiltrate Camp Hope in a human disguise, attempt to bring it down from the inside, and probably inevitably get caught by some angels. If you don't like this premise or want me to change anything, just let me know!

Name:
Malphas, Demon of Deceit
Alias: Matthew Marke
Age: About 2,000, give or take 30 years
Gender: Male
Species: Demon
Weapons/Powers:
  • Polymorphy - Malphas has three forms which he can shift between at will: his natural, demonic form; a large crow; and a human form. Every transformation requires enough necroplasm to make Malphas's location obvious to every angel in the area, but once having taken a form, Malphas's hellish nature is nigh undetectable. In every form, he speaks with a hoarse voice befitting a pack a day smoker.
  • Supernatural Persuasion - Malphas will appear as trustworthy or, at the very least, not immediately suspicious to those who don't know demonic status. Things he says, like explanations for his whereabouts, also seem to true unless there is direct evidence to the contrary. This ability does not work on humans who know already know he is lying, humans who know that he is a demon, or any angel.
  • Necroplasm Manipulation - Like most other sentient demons, Malphas has minor control over the hellish material. Mostly, he uses this ability to generate enough of the stuff in order to transform. He is currently unable to use it for teleportation, offensive blasts, or magic shields.
  • Avianlingualism - Malphas can understand and be understood by fellow birds. It's... not as useful as it sounds. Birds are jerks.
Story:
Young by the standards of most eldritch demons, Malphas doesn't have much to his story. He first came into being sometime around the birth of the Nazarene and since then has built a minor reputation as a spy and infiltrator. In the guise of a human, he would work his way into people's confidences before sewing discord and strife. For the past several decades, he's been operating under the alias of Matthew Marke, a tongue in cheek reference to the Gospel. His duties required him to spend long stretches away from Hell and as such he will more often than not find it easier to relate with humans than with other demons. Also, Earth's pop culture is infinitely more entertaining than Hell's. Or at least, it used to be. There just haven't been any good hit singles since the onset of the Apocalypse.

I would simply tone down the powers just a bit and make it younger... more child than teenager. who could resist helping a little boy. a teeneager more faced character seems to east to turn away and pick up on suspicion. Always was said Demons would imitate children. according to lore.

Which power needs toning down? I'll get right on that. As for the age, I'm a bit worried about the site rules. If I remember correctly, no characters that appear below 18 are allowed, even if they are technically 2000.

We aren't talking sexuall. a demon who poses as a young boy or girl. Makes sense as an infiltrating spy. And anyone who tried to write sexuall with a child character would be immediately reported by me. But it safe to assume other survivros have kids. The world didnt end with everyone at 18. There has to be children still alive. According to revelations its children under 10 that are instantly taken to heaven... A 12 year old now 14 can be a fighter.... They make shoes in china.. no reason they cant work a press and punch shells making ammo. Just speaking realisticly

Right, right. I'm not disputing your world building; it makes perfect sense. The only issue here is that in site rules it says characters which appear below 18 cannot participate in extreme violence or "be the main character" of a roleplay. I'm assuming that any player character is considered a main character and that only NPCs can be underage, though again, I am pretty new here. Apologies if this is in error.

I like the concept, but it seems a bit overpowered for this campaign. Enêpsigos was designed to be an end boss sort of character, for example. If you google the name, you can see she's based off a real myth. We limited her by restricting her powers by the form she's currently in. We don't want any player character to have too much advantage. Currently, the necroplasm is considered a special ability only certain demons have, which is why Trog is so hated for defecting. He was valuable. I'd merge that with the shapeshifting entirely, and only talk to birds in bird form, cause ear development to properly hear and vocal capacity ect, only works in bird form, and I'd think it would be good

Which power needs toning down? I'll get right on that. As for the age, I'm a bit worried about the site rules. If I remember correctly, no characters that appear below 18 are allowed, even if they are technically 2000.
Those rules only apply to sexual situations if I remember correctly.

Hmm...not sure about the main character thing....

I would bend that rule for the story... we are talking details and it would make sense. A demoon pising as a young boy or girl and you did say your character manipulates. A young mother hwho lost her kids sees a little boy... She run to save him but its all a ploy and truly a demon manipulation.

Site rules on the topic

3. Characters under the age of 18 are permitted, with these major stipulations:

a. The child will NEVER be exposed in any way to sexual acts or extreme violence (the latter can be implied). This will result in an IMMEDIATE BAN. The offender will then be un-banned, just to give us the pleasure of banning them again. Seriously, DO NOT DO IT.

b. The child CANNOT be the main character of the roleplay or story. Side characters only. Likewise, the existence of the child CANNOT be the central premise of the story (New Parents, Unexpected pregnancy, etc.).

c. The literal age of the character is not relevent. An ancient vampire that looks 15 is considered 15. The character must also act 18—age regression, adults acting like children and similar stories are forbidden

d. Any scenario that HEAVILY IMPLIES underage characters is forbidden. For example High School Roleplays are not permitted, even if you say your characters are 18. Any scenario where an under 18 character would be the logical assumption will be viewed as underage roleplay.

e. Fandoms which feature underage characters are subject to these rules. Any characters underage in canon must be explcitely aged to compliance with site rules and any setting which implies underage characters must be altered or avoided (for example, replacing a magical school with a magical university)

Ah, sorry for misunderstanding the necroplasm thing. I'll fix that and the bird thing. I'm afraid I have to put my foot down about the apparent age, however. If my character is unusable as a vaguely upper-teens teenager, I'll scrap it and try something new.

Again... oh such a sweet little boy only ten years of age. He must be terrified. you hungry little boy. "Hell yes for camp intel and to infiltrate you're ranks. As a father I would say fuck my life I Have to save the boy. The fact its a demon in disguise is actully scary

I don't think the child thing is key to the character at all, especially if it challenges the players concept and the site rules.

Erm, this is embarrassing, but can someone tell me what's the typical protocol for character edits? Should I go back and edit the original or post it again here with the edits so that the transition can be followed?

And hey! Contra! From what I can tell, there's nothing stopping you from making a demon-child NPC, so long as the violence is implied and nothing icky happens.

Nothing posted here is finally until I edit the main post and add the character to the list of active characters, feel free to repost or discuss here.

It just makes sense.. Humans want to save children. I would open the gates for a a kid trying to save em. makes sense as a way of exploiting human weakness
