On July 4th, 1995, 18 women, both willingly and unwillingly placed in the custody of the U.S. government, had labor induced at the exact same time. Each had within them a child imbued with extraordinary powers, genetically engineered to produce abilities people only ever saw in comic books.

Created with the intention of one day having an elite team of superpowered soldiers at the government's disposal, the resultant children were all raised at a military-funded estate in Detroit, Michigan, by Majors Reginald James McNash and Lee Murray, who posed as wealthy, eccentric bachelors who'd taken joint custody of several orphans. There, they were trained to fight, harness their abilities, unlock unforseen ones, and to "belong" amongst civilians. The purpose of all this preparation was to ready the children for the future, when they were assumed to inevitably become superheroes.

Each of them is now 24 years old now, and none of them ever did.

Spoiler: P L O T

The children, years after leaving behind their lives of hero training, have been invited back to their old home in Detroit, to attend the wedding of their newly revealed to be gay 70-something year old fathers. None of them have kept in contact with each other since their departures, and coming back home sparks thoughts about what it would've been like to be the heroes everyone else saw them as, instead of what they turned out to be.

Unfortunately, their wishful thinking might just come true.

Madison is a sweet, cherub-like girl. She is soft and sweet, alike her voice. She cares too much about those around her which has gotten her hurt (...like "I only have one eye now" kind of hurt). Madison tries to be strong for those around her, but clearly, she's fragile and sensitive.

= BIO =
After leaving the estate, young Madison didn't know how to hide her powers. Being homeless, she chose to use them to heal the sick, and both emotionally and physically wounded. Soon enough, being so open about her healing powers, it bit her in the ass. A boyfriend. A damaged boyfriend with growing mommy and anger issues. Madison was sixteen years old when this angry, twenty-two year old boyfriend lashed out, and stabbed her in the eye with a screwdriver. She ended up fleeing shortly after the event, finding refuge in an all girls orphanage. Unfortunately, there was no way for her eye to recover, so they had to remove it. Keeping a large bandaid on her eye every day, she chose to never talk about the traumatic event ever again. Now twenty-four years old, Madison looks over the girls in the orphanage as both a house mother, and doctor.

Madison produces an electric current throughout her entire body (it's controllable). She uses it to heal, but could be an incredibly painful weapon.

Washington left home with more than the vague desire to cut her own path. The future didn't matter as much, to the 17 year old, as the hidden past. While their fathers made no attempt to lie and pretend that they were a real family, they were also obligated to hide the whole truth. And while she didn't blame them for that, she wouldn't allow herself to remain ignorant for much longer. For the last seven odd years, W had hitched across the country, piecing together the circumstances of her birth, and the identity of her mother.

Now, she's almost no closer than she was before. Armed with only a measly file of stray, redacted documents, half-burned photos, and the guilt of pursuing a life she could've had, when her fathers did such a good job of providing for her, she comes to the wedding to see if time has loosened their parents' lips.

With a bright personality and a ridiculous sense of humour to match, it's hard for Kenny to not be at the very centre of the spotlight. For, the young woman has seemingly always possessed an innate ability to make friends and socialize wherever she goes, making her quite the popular bean. Although, that doesn't necessarily take away from the fact that she can be quite irritating and provoking as well, mainly for the sake of her own amusement. For, the brunette has always found it rather fun to dwell on the more mischievous side of things and as a result, often finds herself getting into loads trouble... Of which she doubles the charm and talks herself out of. Still, despite the large crowd of people in her life, and the amount of story-worthy experiences she encounters, Kenny absolutely refuses to forget her routes. After all, once a family, always a family.

Having spent nearly her entire life under her "parent's" roof, and having built strong relationships along the way, the first few years after the woman had left at the age of 18 were nothing short of difficult. For, as stable as things had been (surprisingly so) Kenny just couldn't seem to move past her, well, past. Never mind the fact that she was attending college at the time and had many opportunities to do so.... She just wanted her papas. And so, after several attempts of trying to reach out to her once united family, she returned empty handed and sadder than ever. So sad that for a long time, Kenny wasn't even her self anymore. Just a depressed, pudgy little girl... That is, until she had come across an outlet.

Now, in this day and age, it isn't uncommon to see others turn to social media in hopes of some sort of emotional relief. In fact, millions upon millions of people do it everyday. And so, just like those very pathetic, very lonely people, Kenny had turned toward various apps for comedic relief, often posting content containing skits and/or her own humorous childhood experiences. And so, for a long time the woman hadn't expected anything to come of it, save for a few creeps sliding into her dms and those notorious "women aren't funny" comments. Regardless, she'd thought that it was just this little thing that kept her happy, that made her feel less lonely... Until one day, her profiles had seemingly soared from a measly one thousand followers, to ten thousand all in a couple of days. And it only continued to grow from then on, to the point where she was nearly at 1 million followers. What. Now, when people ask about her success, she states that she's just as confused as they are. For, she went from a girl who openly cried on camera (a mental breakdown/rant because of school), to a woman who was endorsing products and was invited to the most elite events. What.

Harding can be pretty much summed up as a stone-cold wall with splotches of chipped, colorful paint masking the coldest areas. Though he is at times, very emotionless, something no one would ever recall him to be in his past, he is still irritable and clingy with his family, expressing his love for his relatives through mood swings and pranks. Beyond his moody or eccentric demeanor, Harding is mischievous and desires to stir tension and trouble wherever he treads, as his siblings can vouch for a hundred times over. It takes a brave, patient soul to get past his overly-defensive barrier, making it hard for anyone to like Harding, but at the same time, makes him more amusing and mysterious to other people. His family, however, believes he's just a bratty, temperamental pain in the ass that hasn't grown up quite yet, which he loved to be reminded of during their time growing up together.
= BIO =
Harding took his departure from his parents' home the worse out of the bunch. Seeing his family drift apart from one another had been difficult, as he depended on them more than any normal being should have. To him, his family was his happiness, his reason for being, for belonging, for wanting and desiring goals and feats. Growing up with a group of kids going through puberty and the struggles of controlling their supernatural abilities had been tough, but it only made Harding try hard to bring light to those situations. Making his siblings chuckle and yet, groan and sigh through his antics had been his specialty. There was nothing more important to Harding than family at that time, and having to start a life of his own at the ripe age of 18 without them had been horrendous. He had only left because being alone in that house was a more terrifying thought than being alone at all. Thinking back to those moments of his life always made him laugh; he'd cause his family such a great annoyance, yet he needed them to be himself. So, he sought out to replace the family he had seemingly lost, but the world outside of his family's estate had been cruel and grueling, or perhaps, he just encountered the wrong crowd of people. Nonetheless, it changed him; his smiles no longer were genuine, his desire to dream no longer present, and he fell into the ill intentions and influences of his "new-found family". Harding had developed a new dependence, drugs. It started with a few rolls of marijuana, and quickly, turned into harder substances. He went on living like a caffeine addict without their first cup of coffee; without it, he could barely function, let alone use his abilities and thus, he was perfectly incognito to the world of "normies". He fell in love with a man in this group of misfits by the name of Gun, the same man that introduced him to drugs, scheming and thieving, the same man who changed his life for best and then, the worst. He had lost Gun to the same thing he had met him for, drugs, and to make matters worse, he died right in front of him. The man didn't O.D. but he was murdered, gunned down for his possesions while Harding was under the influence, unable to save him. He carries the burden over his head, constantly trying to better himself after that moment, trying to get sober, but if it's not drugs, it's alcohol, and with his rational thoughts being any less of functional, he often relapses.

@jxs_lxn, I like the character, just a tiny bit concerned about the power. I know you're using Violet's, from the Incredibles, but I'm unsure of the "magnetic" aspect. If you mean ferromagnetism, it feels like it's two powers in one. (If it's just a word you used, it's fine.)

As for the incapacitation of targets, I'm all in, but want to make sure it stops at that. Immobilization in like, stasis bubbles, sounds good, but I wouldn't want your character to have the ability to move them around and effectively tack on telekinesis.

If I'm just making a ton of assumptions, you have nothing to worry about.

Monroe knows no boundaries, and though she might be a bit chaotic, she means well. Growing up, people avoided her because of the frightening air she gave off, so she decided that she had to be the opposite of that. She is loud, friendly, and headstrong. A feisty little girl with a daring spirit, Monroe rarely backs down from anything, and is loyal to the bitter end. She is very playful and extremely blunt, though that is often because she does not know how to not be honest. Monroe often appears naive, and in some ways is, but is also quite clever. Her eagerness for life and adventure is endearing at times and worrisome at others. She is extremely caring and good with people, or, good with her siblings. Other people confuse her sometimes, and her sheltered upbringing is made clear when she has trouble understanding certain social conventions. She rarely gets embarrassed, and if she is, it is because of her over emotional nature. She is aggressive and scrappy in a way that is mischievous, not malicious. Monroe fights a lot but she loves much more. For a girl who loves love, she has little experience with it. Her heart is so big it hurts.

Monroe didn't want to leave home, did not want to leave her family, but everyone else did, so she thought, why not? It would be fun, right, exploring the great unknown.

People look at Monroe and think: now that's a girl I can take advantage of. When she got to the city, that was the first thing that happened. She quickly landed a modeling gig, and was super excited to start working and making her own way. It soon became clear that modeling wasn't the only thing the director wanted from her. He began touching her, kissing her, and when she said no and he didn't listen, she lost it. That director is still in a mental hospital, haunted by his own demons.

After that, Monroe learned that she should not give everyone as much grace as she normally did. She was on the streets for a bit, and spent that time as a street artist, painting and spraying whatever she could. She soon fell into an underground fighting ring. And she was good. No one ever expected a small girl like her to fight so hard, and though she was quick and clever, it wasn't those skills that made her win, it was her powers. It was hard to explain what happened in the ring, but everyone crumbled to her.

Once she had enough money from her winnings, she took all she had and traveled as much as she could. When she received the wedding invitation, she was elated, and rushed home as quick as possible, eager to see her family

Fear sense and manipulation. Monroe can sense the deepest fears of those around her, and create images of these nightmares. She can heighten fear, through close proximity or touch.

The magnetic aspect was just an added word instead of me just saying force field lol! In terms of the immobilization of his power, yep, the targets would be trapped in force field bubbles (?) at their spots and he would be able to generate short forces of this energy to defend himself with (much like Violet), if that makes sense!

Hayes is a quiet man with a kinder disposition, due to his more agreeable nature and his desire to be supportive to others rather draw attention to himself. He would give the shirt off his back for a stranger, but would be uncomfortable if they thanked him. When caught up in confrontation, he would rather apologize or escape, even if he wasn't the one in the wrong. It's not because he doesn't have a temper beneath the softer demeanor, but because he genuinely hates hurting others and wants to live life peacefully rather than start drama. With enough buttons pushed, perhaps he could be tempted to raise his voice, but would probably feel guilty after. He gets anxious with social interactions with unfamiliar people, mostly because he fears judgement and making anyone upset with him. He also gets flustered in situations that make him uncomfortable, resulting in him clamming up or his voice trembling if he felt he could speak. He can be a bit insular and introverted to avoid uncomfortable situations, but does enjoy listening to others if they need someone to talk to. Around his family he's a bit of a worrier and the voice of reason if something dangerous is afoot.

Hayes never really thought of what he would do once his family fell apart, as he hadn't really imagined a life outside of his comfort zone. The forced family arrangement was the only real bond and connection anyone had in that house, so he assumed they would all be together forever. The outside world was terrifying to someone who felt they never fit in and like they were constantly under scrutiny. Honestly, the thought of leaving made him anxious as he knew no one outside of that house would care if he disappeared. He assumed his parents didn't even want him because he was a "freak" and that's why he ended up a failed experiment on a project that was doomed from the start. To help with his anxiety he took up ballet, as his ability with speed needed accuracy, grace, and control to keep him stable and his endurance up. He suffered enough injuries in training to know he needed some extracurricular help. When the others began leaving, Hayes stuck around as long as he could before an opportunity for something new arose. One day while training at a local gym, just to get himself out of the depressively quiet house, he was approached by a dance company that offered him a chance for an interview at the college of the arts, specializing dance. In an uncharacteristic show of courage from the usually anxious man, he took the leap and left the only place he saw as home. He ended up working with a dance company that took him all over the world, but he never felt quite at place amongst people he considered strangers. Despite losing his family, he found escape in performances and being able to make others smile through something he was able to show. He only felt worthy and somewhat normal when performing, as he could mentally leave his situation and portray himself as someone completely different. News of the wedding of the men he considered fathers was a surprise, but Hayes leapt at the opportunity to return home, to what was once safe and familiar for him.

Super speed: He can move quickly in short bursts of time, but if he uses the ability consecutively too often it can give him motion sickness and muscle pains as if he ran a marathon.

6.1ft tall and skinny, not exactly lanky... but you could hardly describe him as "toned" either.

= PERSONALITY =
Carter is a somewhat reserved person. He is by no means socially awkward, but doesn't like being the center of attention... Carter would rather hover at the fringes of a group, adding to the conversation when needed, then fading into the background to observe, or simply get lost in his own head.

Despite this, if people make an effort to draw him out they will discover that Carter is a friendly, laid back man that can be depended on when shit hits the fan.

= BIO =
Watching his family, the only group of people he'd ever truly known fracture and break apart was... well, it was difficult for Carter.
Adjusting to everyday life as a 'normal person' came relatively easy, he'd been trained to blend in with the general populous just like the rest of his siblings... and he could always fall back on his powers when that training proved insufficient.

Still, blending in did nothing to fill the hole that losing his family had left within him... and so Carter ended up drifting from town to town and job to job, his life aimless and lacking purpose... until one day, when he happened to come across a man on the golden gate bridge.
The guy was clearly getting ready to jump... but Carter, aided by his powers, managed to talk him down from the edge.

That moment made Carter realize that his abilities could be used for something other than manipulating people into doing what he wanted... they could also help people in a way that virtually no one else could.
And so he signed on as a volunteer worker for a mental health charity. This new purpose didn't completely fill the hole that losing his family had left, but it at least gave him the chance to have a happy and fulfilling life without them.

And for a long time, that's what Carter set about doing... and then the invitation came.

Empath.
Carter can sense and understand other people's emotions. he cannot read minds, but can often decipher what people are thinking through the ebb and flow of their emotions.
During his training, Carter also discovered that he could affect the way people felt... it wasn't exactly mind control (much to his teacher's disappointment,) but it did allow him to push and pull at other people's emotions. This takes a lot of concentration on Carter's part though, and it can be quite draining sometimes.
