Organized lore and information about the universe around Aya McDermiod and Eli Ridge. Subjects are posted in chronological order of introduction. None of the images are my own, and are either AI generated for general reference or are taken from an existing work of fiction.

The Coalition
Upon humanity's discovery of S-II, a solar system adjacent to our own, filled with many more planets--some more fit for colonization than others--legal systems began to collapse due to the vast diversity of settlers in different areas of the system. Notably, this concern came about when space travel became more conventionally available and sometimes necessary for civilian survival. At this point in development, some of the wealthiest settlers had chosen the planets most suitable for survival and sought to incorporate some form of government across other planets. Thus, through a series of legal documents, bills, and laws, as well as indoctrination and hefty funds in order to expand military forces, The Coalition was formed.

A fair number of citizens under the rule of The Coalition are satisfied with their authority, but it is this populus that tends to enjoy the most benefits, i.e. the wealthy, the senators, and the suck-ups. Many others who do not have such privilege merely live in fear of The Coalition due to the brutal military might and iron fist enforcement deployed to those who resist. Yet a small number--too small for The Coalition to truly be concerned about--chooses to rebel and fight back.

Fortunately, concerning the outer colonies, cities perceived to be less able to generate income are usually left on the looser end of enforcement, and some go unnoticed in the first place, regarded as unworthy of investment.

Captain Connie - Video game franchise, also an animated series.

The leader of the Galaxy Marshall's "Alpha Squadron." Captain Connie McCute is the first and last line of defence against the evil Tektron empire.

Do you have what it takes to lead Connie and Alpha Squadron to victory!?

Planet:

New Constantinople (NC)

The glittering gem of the Coalition's core worlds, NC is the poster child planet on every piece of Coalition press. A bastion of peace and learning all gathered into making S-II a better place. Or is it?

A mostly green planet, the cities are tall and clean and there are several large universities.

NC is Aya's home planet and it just happens her mother Helena McDermiod is planetary governor. Very few on NC know what goes on in the outer rim and even fewer have seen a coalition Stormtrooper.

Planet

Nova Nova-Scotia

A frozen and remote planet on the outer rim. Home to some hardy cold weather creatures. The planet has a few research bases, dedicated to the study of cold weather xenos lifeforms.

it was here Aya was trying to get to before the engines on the cradle failed.

Jahdeen's Locations

Planet: Tereva II

A planet in the Southern regions of the S-II system, Tereva II is home to a vast variety of jungles and wildlife, a significant portion of which are considered dangerous to some extent. Most notably, this planet is the native world of the widely exploited Plasmatis plant, often grown for harvest of its blue fluid within its sacs, which is a key ingredient in high-efficiency and high-cost fuel.

It is also the homeworld of the Venari, a less advanced but quite intelligent species with a notable disdain for humans. They have customs quite different than those of humans, as they are unfamiliar with poetry and take pride in ceremonial combat to prove the worth of their greatest warriors. They proved to be cooperative and open-minded with Aya and Eli, and assisted with the repair of the Cradle.

Animals

  • The Kaz are large, carnivorous lizards native to Tereva II, about the size of a riding horse, if not slightly larger. They have no eyes and rely entirely on their enhanced scent and sound to perceive their surroundings, making them excellent hunters. They most often consume smaller insect-like animals for food, and are tamed and used as steeds by the local Venari.

Plants
  • The Plasmatis plant is a widely exported specimen due to its bulbous blue fluid sacs serving as potent fuel and plasma ammunition when processed. They are actually carnivorous and feast on other animals for food, but can live for up to 20 years after a large enough meal. Still, they are required to be frozen and sedated to be safely taken off-world. Their plasma residue is popular with mercenaries, pilots, and soldiers.

Planet: Nivis [WIP]

Located in the outer quadrants of Southwest S-II, Nivis is a relatively humble and small planet inhabited by colonizers, who had settled there long before the Coalition began to spread its firm grip on other sectors. The terrain is comprised of grasslands, valleys, hills, and forests of autumnal hues, and is overseen by its own miniature sun, providing an excellent and comfortable environment for humanoids, plants, and animals alike.

Due to stable temperatures year-round, Nivis has become a large source of natural fruits and vegetables through significantly successful farming. Many food products, including those harvested from livestock raised in open fields, are exported to various companies and planets, providing nutritious meals for thousands upon thousands of settlements. Certain areas beneath the surface are also sites of plentiful minerals used in construction and shipyards. Local research ensued on Nivis because of this, and they were one of many engineering pioneers that later allowed for modern space technology.

Nivis has been noted by the Coalition to be a location of interest, though it falls quite low on the priority list due to an apparent lack of rebellious activity. They are also not considered to be important enough to be a significant target for colonization.

Animals
  • Skiviks are domesticated wildlife that are commonly farmed for tender steaks and milk. They are herbivores, feeding peacefully on grasses, and have a defensive but gentle temperament. Encountering wild ones are not usually dangerous if one keeps their distance.

Planet: Haveri [WIP]

Haveri enjoys a quiet little corner on the far West quadrants of S-II, largely away from the prying eyes and interests of large corporations and the Coalition. It remains in relative obscurity, but is notable for its supply of unique cash crops, as well as for hosting various animal species that have been domesticated and utilized to amazing extents. Green farmlands and plains dominate the surface, winding around fields of flora and black and beaches that lap along freshwater lakes.

The population is well spaced out, leaving much of the planet relatively untouched by settlers. Towns and cities that are established tend to foster a strong sense of community, and it is not uncommon to find yourself in a place where everyone knows everyone else by name.

Race

Centauri

The purple skinned, golden eyed centauri joined the Coalition decades ago. Clearly distinguished by their purple skin, hair and golden eyes. They have their own language and customs but have slotted neatly into a human habitat.

Race Transhuman: The Galahad Project

The Galahad project was designed to make normal soldiers into super soldiers. The project was initiated by Prof. Yasmine Wu in reaction to Coalition Soldiers falling more to hostile environments than enemy fire.

Not much about the process is widely known other than a blend of hyped-stetoids, formulyn and other chemicals are injected then a rigorous regime of health, fitness, electro shock and radiation bombardment result in the birth of a Galahad. Less then 20% of applicants make it.

The results though are ferocious! An 8' tall man with the strength of many, capable of shrugging off mortal wounds and existing in horrifying conditions.

Less than 20 Galahad soldiers exist as the process was outlawed 20 years ago. Even the Coalition has limits...

Personality - Ares Lancelot

The Galahad project was cut nearly twenty years ago. But one of the most succesful aspirants was Ares Lancelot. Now standing over eight feet tall Ares is a monster of a man.

A hero of the unification wars Ares is probably responsible for more deaths than plague in its entirety.

Aya was chosen to marry Ares but he physically and mentally abused her for months, trying to crush her spirit. In the end Aya met Eli and escaped. But Ares has vowed to track her down and kill her new lover before her eyes...

Race

Byth

The Hippo like (and "adorable" in Aya's notes) Byth are a technologically advanced, intelligent species. Averaging around 4' tall, the Byth have a tremendous power to weight ratio, able to lift many times their own weight. They have a natural affinity for technology and generally dislike violence. Much prefering exploration and gastronomy to many other pursuits.
