Roleplay: A Dark Magical World (currently ongoing)

Name: Emilia "Emi" Pendragon
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 115 lbs
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Appearance: Long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pale skin
Voice: Megan Shipman (spoken), Kunikida Hanamaru (singing).
Theme: TBD
Quote: "The people who walk in darkness will see a great light." and "I am your salvation."

History: Emilia was born as the eldest child to a middle class family. Nestled in the urban edge of New York, everyone mostly kept to themselves and focused on their day to day activities. Emilia helped take care of her three younger siblings, two boys and one girl, while her parents both worked. The economic recession hit her family hard and her parents struggled to keep up with bills and the mortgage. Emilia did what she could but they were forced to leave her childhood home when she was sixteen and move into a smaller home that was shared with another family. It wasn't ideal, but her parents made it work the best that they could. As hard as they worked to keep the truth from Emilia, she knew that her parents were struggling financially and she desperately wanted to find a way to help them.

It started as odd jobs here and there to whomever would accept her. Delivering newspapers, taking orders at fast food restaurants, anything that would give her something to save in hopes of moving out on her own. If she could remove herself from the situation that was one less mouth they would have to feed. Things seemed to work until she turned nineteen and graduated high school. Taking two years off, she focused on trying to find a job but few places would take her and instead favored foreign work as it was cheaper.

This was when her parents encouraged her to go back to school, to go into a field that might give her the tools she needed to be successful. That was a great idea, in theory, but where would she get the money? Dozens of pamphlets littered her bed as she tried to figure out a school that she could afford with her minor salary. Accepting money from her parents was a nonstarter. Becoming annoyed with the struggle, she decided to take a walk in hopes of clearing her head. Should she take out a loan? Who would give a young adult that much money anyway? It was sure as hell not going to be a bank. As if the sky heard her struggles and wanted to make matters worse, it opened up to release a torrent of rain down upon her. Soaked, Emilia darted down an alleyway in hopes of finding shelter until the rain stopped. It was here that she stumbled upon a tragically injured cat. The animal's back legs had been crushed by what seemed to be a nearby rock and it was left to slowly die in the darkness. Horrified, Emilia began to panic. She couldn't just leave the poor thing but what was she to do? Terrified, she moved to try and pick the injured creature up but as her slender fingers made contact with the wet mass of fur, a brilliant surge of power felt like it flowed through her and into the cat. Cracking bones and repairing flesh was all Emilia could ear and see as the cat's legs began to return to the way they had once been all the while the street lamps that lined her way began to burst into thousands of shards of glass.

It didn't take long for the cat to slowly get back onto its feet and bolt off, leaving Emilia more horrified than she had been when she found the wounded animal. What had just happened? Thankfully she didn't have to wait long for answers as on her walk back home she was approached by a man who offered her the truth behind her fears. Magic. But magic wasn't real, right? Nothing beyond parlor tricks and mirrors. Yet this man spoke of a school which could teach her how to harness that raw skill and form it into a talent. Emilia rejected him at first, calling him crazy, but she changed her mind when he made her an offer she couldn't refuse. Free lodging, money for groceries, living expenses, and tuition through a scholarship; it was better than she could have imagined. This was the solution to all her problems! Crazy as it sounded, this could be her ticket out of poverty and the tool she needed to help her family once and for all. With some hesitation she accepted the invitation and made arrangements to leave for school the following morning.

2f7d96f255b96a48a7fa50057d280b13.jpg

Name: Ashlynn "Ash" Costello
Age:
30
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 165 lbs
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Appearance: Long dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scars on her arms, legs, and back
Voice: TBD
Theme: TBD
Quote: "Endure and Survive; you have no idea what loss is."
Positive Traits: Commanding, Serious, Straight-Forward
Neutral Traits: Hardened, Stoic, Blunt
Negative Traits: Self-Righteous, Hypocritical, Self-Destructive

History: Ash had a fairly average life before in infection. Two loving parents, younger brothers, and a baby sister whom she was told looked just like her. When the virus hit, she hadn't had time to even react. She had been house sitting for her parents while they took her younger siblings on a trip into town for the weekend. When they arrived back, they all looked horribly sick but Ash didn't think much of it. Her father went first, his mother soon after. Finding her siblings all dead in their beds became a memory burned into her mind that she'd never forget. One by one her neighbors spoke of their loved ones dying, passing away after contracting a strange illness that she never seemed to get.

Backyards turned into grave sites. But what some quickly learned; if the bodies were not disposed of properly they didn't stay dead. Corpses began to rise up and seek out the living. It was a nightmare. New stations spoke of the infection like a plague and how doctors were looking for a solution to eradicate it but days turned into weeks, and soon the news stopped coming. The world turned to shit and it was everyone for themselves to survive. Ash had just about given up hope until she met another band of survivalists and decided to work with them on a way to create a civilization blocking out the infected.

Roleplay: Evolution: Next Stage (Currently Ongoing)

f977f0a17a70779248bbe20ada511594.jpg

Name: Rosalyn "Rose" Sinclair
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 125 lbs
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Appearance: Long red hair, vibrant blue/green/purple eyes, and peachy freckled skin
Voice: Abby Trott
Theme: Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush
Quote: "Mohala i ka wai ka maka o ka pua. This means that when you look beyond the waves you see the most beautiful flowers."

Positive Traits: Amiable, Loyal, Determined, Supportive, Thoughtful
Rose is immensely loyal to those whom she trusts but it's gaining that trust that is difficult. Determined and kind hearted, she often does things for the betterment of others with the goal to make them happy.

Neutral Traits: Imaginative, Organized, Excitable, Poliet, Shy
Rose's mind tends to wander when left alone, which is especially true when she is outside in the elements. All of her things are almost excessively organized to the point where she becomes upset if something is amiss. Quiet and reserved at first, Rose judges people heavily from afar to gauge if she wants to get closer to them or not.

Negative Traits: Perfectionist, Stubborn, Self-Doubting, Self-Denying, Obsessive
Rose has difficulties making decisions and can dig her heels in when she believes something strongly enough. She doubts herself and her abilities as she sees them as a hindrance to the life she wants to live.

Ability: Elemental Control (Water) - Surface Tension Manipulation (Water Walking)
* Also known as hydro-locomotion. The ability is achieved by the user defying the surface tension of a particular liquid. This ability allows the user to walk or run across the surface as if they were on land.

Capabilities:
Level 1 ||
Basic Ability
  • Rose is able to gingerly walk on water which is not in a state nearing freezing or boiling.
  • She must utilize her bare feet for this task and is unable to run, as this will disrupt the transference of surface tension. Additionally, if her hands make contact with the water the tension on the surface is broken. Immense focus must be used to maintain this ability.
Level 2 || Intermediate
Ability
  • Rose is able to run across water now and needs less focus to do so. Water can also be reaching its freezing or boiling points but cannot meet or exceed these temperatures, otherwise the ability is broken.
  • She is able to use her control over water tension to wrap small balls of water as if they were balloons in her hands. While underwater she can use these balls of pressurized water to shoot her forward at considerable speeds.
  • She must maintain consistent momentum when running or jogging on the water's surface. If she stops too suddenly then she is at risk for breaking the ability and falling into the water.
Level 3 || Advanced
Ability
  • Rose is able to walk, run, glide, and share her ability with other people. She is now able to considerably expand the range of her ability to encompace a four foot diameter from her body. This allows her to aid companions in crossing large bodies of water as long as they remain in the circle of tension. At times Rose prefers to hold hands to be certain the companion does not walk past the edge. Rose is also not able to wear shoes when using her ability, in turn this allows for her to cross water that is freezing or boiling. Additionally, she is able to form a 'disk' of tension which allows for her to glide (as if on a surfboard) over waves and unstable currents. The constant tension propels her forward.
  • She is able to stand or quickly come to a halt if running but her tension on the surface will only last five minutes. If she continues to stand in the same place then she has a high risk or breaking the surface tension and falling into the water.

Homestate: Born in Hawaii but moved to Washington DC and beyond with her mother who aided in government work.

History:
Rose was born to a rather young set of military parents. Her father and mother, Jorah and Margery respectively, had been inseparable since they met as children. Some would call that a love story, while others might call it destiny. Rose thought it was both. She adored her parents and thanks to their young age she was blessed with three younger sisters. She knew at times the house, full of estrogen, was a bit more than Jorah could bear. With that in mind it was Rose that took it upon herself to learn more about the activities that her father loved. Fishing was a pastime that her sisters found "disgusting, boring, and barbaric" but it was what made their father happy. Whether it was baking in the kitchen with her mother or exploring the open ocean with her father, Rose felt right at home with her "perfectly normal family".

Though she loved her life and her family she longed for something more, something exciting. It was not long after that when the accident happened. She and her siblings were at home when an explosion was heard not far off in the distance. Curious, Rose encouraged her sisters to stay home while she swam off to investigate. Soon she stumbled upon the 'land edge', as she called it. It was an enormous landmass that stood as a wall leading into to the land section of her city. She would have to leave the ocean and continue on foot. She did not mind this but the rough ground always hurt her tender feet (shoes were not an option). As she forced herself forward she could see smoke billowing from the hole.Hurrying forward she was stopped by a low tide pool filled with sharp and poisonous Stonefish. They had gotten tossed up with the tide. Unable to cross the pool Rose was trapped. As the tension in her mind began to reach the breaking point she stopped thinking and walked forward. Her safety didn't matter, her life didn't matter, the only thing that mattered in this moment was making sure that none were harmed in the explosion.

As she made her way forward, adrenaline pumping through her body, she did not notice her feet did not break the water's surface. She remained suspended above the Stonefish, allowing them to sleep peacefully below her shadow. Within moments Rose reached the land beyond the pools and was met with a sudden realization that she was alone but a powerful surging force was billowing up from the crater. It was overwhelming and snaked into her flesh like a virus. The water bubbled and rippled beneath her feet as she noticed what she was doing and frantically scrambled backwards. Falling back on the sands it felt like her whole body was tingling before the pain started and everything went black. In time her father rowed out to the land mass and found her not long after to take her home.

After that her parents didn't exactly know what to do with their daughter who swore she could defy the laws of the ocean. They vowed not to speak of what had happened while they explored options of how to help Rose. It was one of her youngest sisters found the various institutions which were beginning to pop up, speaking of explosions around the nation which resulted in people developing psionic abilities and suggested that they might be able to help "fix" her. Begrudgingly the young girl left the only home she ever knew and set off to join the program in hopes that they could either remove her 'curse' or teacher her how to repress it enough so she could feel normal. She long wished she wasn't "special" just so she didn't have to leave the one place where she felt safe and comfortable. But perhaps this was where she was meant to be?

Name: Charlotte "Charlie" Williams
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Height: 5' 3"
Weight: 115 lbs
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Appearance: Long brown hair, pale green eyes, lightly freckled pale skin
Voice: Shoba Narayan (spoken and singing)
Theme: TBD
Quote: "I am a forest, and a night of dark trees: but he who is not afraid of my darkness will find banks full of roses under my cypresses."

Positive Traits: Loyal, Dedicated, Intelligent
Charlie's known for having her head in the clouds and often gets herself in trouble for being off-topic. She enjoys cooking for herself and those she is close to. With a sweet and warm tone to her voice, it is often hard to distinguish when she is angry or upset. Dedicated and goal-driven, Charlie is not the type of girl to quit on her first try, even if it brings her to her breaking point.

Neutral Traits: Tidy, Calm, Day-Dreamer, Polite
Being tidy and orderly gives the young girl great joy in life. She works hard to keep her 'bold' emotions in while offering an air of calm around herself. Emilia tends to appear as if she is not always listening when someone is speaking to her, as her mind tends to wander on to how she could have done better. She means no disrespect but cannot control these momentary bursts of minimal focus. When this does occur, she is quick to apologize and ask forgiveness.

Negative Traits: Perfectionist, Self-Doubting, Self-Denying, Obsessive
Overly self-critical of herself and her choices, it often takes her considerable time to make decisions. She puts tremendous pressure on herself to not disappoint others and always perform her best. Charlie has a hard time expressing her feelings and feels more comfortable focusing on the needs and emotions of others before herself. She is very hard to persuade once her mind is set on a particular way to do something.

History: Charlie's life was average, although her younger years were a bit hazy. She recalled her mother and father being together until she was about six years old. They had always seemed to disagree on something until her mother met her breaking point. The night was November 7th, and it was bitterly cold out. Her mother woke her up with a start, raving about needing to go and pack her things. Charlie sat up in a daze, unsure what was happening, but before she knew it, her mother was scooping her up into her arms and running out of the house. All she could remember after that was looking over her mother's shoulder to see her father standing in the doorway to their home. Why were they leaving him? What had happened?

Years passed, and Charlie's mother refused to discuss the reason behind leaving the house that night and would become increasingly agitated if the subject was pushed further. There was always something missing from her life after that: a father figure she desperately longed for. She missed him and was beginning to forget his face, smile, and how he always made her laugh. Her father had been a light in her life that she didn't know she needed, and now there was just a black void where his presence once was.

Charlie got accepted into Duke University in North Carolina for a degree in Engineering. School proved to be rather difficult for her financially, and she ended up needing a great deal of financial support in the form of student loans. Things only got worse not long after her twenty-second birthday.

The news of her mother's death came as a horrible shock, but what was more tragic was that she had accidentally lost her life with a fatal dose of heroin that had been laced with fentanyl. Charlie had no idea that her mother had been abusing drugs, let alone how addicted she had gotten in the short time that she had been away at college. The death came with another alarming surprise in the form of thousands of dollars in credit card debt. Her once sweet and supportive mother had been reduced to nothing more than debt and sorrow in her final hours. The heroin had been her escape attempt and, unfortunately, cost her her life.

Utterly drowning in bills, Charlie was forced to drop out of college in a feeble attempt at getting a job to finance getting control over her life again. Everything seemed hopeless until she found a letter in her mother's safe that had the name and address of her father. Cleaning out the house had resulted in Charlie finding the one person left in her life who might be able to help her out of his mess. It had been sixteen years, but she was desperate at this point. With the letter in hand, she set out to find her father and just prayed he'd be able to help her before everything came crashing down.
