Ju-Light Years from Jupiter!

But you can still sing Drops of Jupiter with me nevertheless.

It's time to obsess over space, be it the stars, the moon, aliens or whatever else you might be able to think up.

This event is centered around your personal creativity and will last the entire month of July!

  • Drawing Art- We will only be accepting personal sketches and drawings. You can do this traditionally or digitally. (SFW Please) They do not need to be colored, but you can. We'd love to see some art that was made with effort and care. Remember, space themed art can go in many directions, there isn't just one right answer here. Submissions that don't follow the guidelines set here won't be rewarded.

  • Write a Poem or short blurb- We're keeping these entries at a max-word count of 250 (Please avoid big triggers). This is meant to be fast and fun.

This is a place to express yourself and is very low pressure. Remember we do not allow the use of AI for our personal writing on site.

Post your writing and/or images below when you're finished to earn your badge.

Thank you for joining us as we celebrate, and be sure to show each other love!

Always,

Jumbled

Walk on the Earth
Fly to the Moon
Bask in the Sun
Reach for the Stars

Live on the Ground
Love to the Sky
Shine bright with Joy
Stand tall with Dreams

Things may be Hard
Don't feel Alone
Grasp at the Light
Believe and Know

You are Alive
You are Loved
Keep your Glow
Hold on to Hope

Stride on the Earth
Sour to the Moon
Bright as the Sun
A rising Star

The sound of the wind in the trees. The feeling of grass against my skin. The smell of everything growing and thriving around me. The sound of the creatures, big and small, going about their night, chatting along to one another. Hunting, hiding, and exploring.

I breathe in deeply, and look up towards the moon. A beautiful, white gemstone in the sky, which watches over me tonight, and smile, knowing that you are looking up to the moon as well.

One thousand miles. That sounds so close, yet it's so far. Six years. That feels so short, yet it's so long. And, I haven't seen you in far, far too long. We talk when we can, but being in your arms is different than calls, messages, videos.

I can't wait to come home. Because this place, a thousand miles away, is not my home.

My home isn't where I hang my hat. My home is wherever you rest your head. And tonight, this forest floor, is my home.

And, the moon has never been more beautiful than it is tonight.

Beyond the reach of mortal eyes,
A tapestry of expansive darkness lies.
Starry mysteries shift in a silent dance;
A galaxy that leaves me in a cosmic trance.

She sat on a rickety old porch chair of peeling paint. The weather beaten boards of the porch squeak underneath her rocking motion. Like this, swaddled in the darkness of night, she is at peace. The troubles of the day are far away, and those that remain are deadened to a pleasant hum in the back of her mind by a cocktail of coffee spiced with the smoothest rum.

"I will come for you!" he had said, voice breaking with emotion she dared not name.

"Just wait."

There was a time not long ago when she had almost given up her nightly vigil. The twinkling stars she stared at high above had begun to lose their luster in her loneliness, but then she remembered the blaze of his cerulean eyes, shifted in her hard seat, lingering just a little longer.

Waiting.
Watching.
Praying to heaven for his return.

The moment the empty sky ignites with thousands of stars that streak across the sky with burnished tails of golden. Fizzling out long before they touch the ground.

Save for one.

She knows in her heart of hearts he has returned.

That one lone star reaches Earth. Landing with a negligible wind on her front lawn, browned from the summer's drought. Luminous in a billowing gown that clings tightly to the broader parts of his anatomy, onyx hair mussed from the rapid descent. His stone-gray hand extended out to her, making her breath hitch.

"My love, I finally found you. We can be together again."

My essence was frigid, observing the darkness of space
On the edge, my soul wished for a coup de grΓ’ce,
Unattended, crying out but only hearing echoes,
Leaving behind these small mementos.

But then you came along and illuminated my soul,
My heart is no longer a lump of coal,
You're my brightest star, in the ill-lit night,
With you, baby, I can reach any height.

a little thingy I made inspired by some art I found, closely related to my entry for the July Writing Challenge

Sailing through the maw of my past,
yawned open with her memory.
She is an angel of predation,
stalking sunlight and far sides of moons.
β €
Dust glimmers in her wake,
and sticks to jagged shards of others--
those that came before.
They swirl in the currents of my despair,
writhe in the depths of my need.
They glint in warning,
like stars dying out, long ago,
I'm already drowning,
it's too late.
β €
She bears down upon me,
and they know what's to come.
There is barely any sound,
just a ripple in the void.
And soon I am only dust,
and a jagged shard,
sailing behind her

in the wake

of my own destruction.

So Much Space

If I look up into the ink spilled sky,
A twinkle of starlight caught in my eye-
And you in your jacket warm at night,
Miles away, gaze up to find the same sight-
Could we then see each other there in that star,
Alone on a highway, radio blasting in your car?
Dancing barefoot in a field of flowers and dew,
Or sitting at a table for one instead of two?
Together finding comfort that miles from home,
We see the same little sparkle despite where we roam?

Looking up at the starry sky
I wonder, if you are there now
Free of pain, free of the body that held you back
One with the stars, swimming within the milky way
I see a star that reminds me of you; It twinkles
I wonder if that's you letting me know things are alright
May one day the moonlight guide me to you
Reunited among the celestial
