Bio:
Fourth-born and third daughter in a family of six children, Gabriella was considered the soul of least merit within the Lodwin household. An illness of the lungs—seen as an unsavory detriment—robbed her of any chance at securing a prosperous marriage within the exalted circle of the King's Court.
Upon turning twenty, she was presented with two stark choices: join the Order of the Crucible Knights—the monastic military arm of the Church of Prion—submitting to vows of poverty and lifelong service, or marry a nobleman twenty years her senior who had purchased the privilege with a generous endowment paid directly to her wealthy house.
Gabriella chose the former, abandoning a pampered life for one of harsh martial training and theological education. She struggled to conceal her lung condition from both fellow recruits and trainers. Upon completing basic training in the top percentile of her class, Gabriella was assigned to the Vanguard—the frontline force against infernal darkness—where she earned the rank of Valkyrie, tasked with journeying alone to hunt down and destroy monsters.
Abilities:
Gabriella is well-educated in various disciplines, including battlefield tactics, the treatment of common combat injuries, religious doctrine and ritual, and the protocols of the Royal Court. An agile fighter, she favors speed over brute strength, relying on compact weaponry, light armor, and debilitating tinctures to gain the upper hand.
Limitations:
Gabriella is a loyal soldier who follows orders with little hesitation. She is a staunch believer in the gospel of the Church, the rule of her King, and the wisdom of her superiors. However, her physical condition is more fragile than most. She suffers from asthma, with attacks triggered by stress, intense exertion, or the inhalation of cold air, smoke, or dust. These debilitating episodes can severely restrict her breathing and mobility, leaving her wheezing for air. Recovery may take several hours—or even days—depending on the severity.
