About The Writer
You can call me Ryn. Thanks for taking a peek at my request thread! I am an enjoyer of drawing, story-telling, music, BJDs, movies/television shows and video games. I possess a low-key addiction to boba tea, drink way too much coffee and have a great love of the color violet.

Experience:
Writing and role playing have been long term hobbies of mine for the past 20ish years.

Availability: I am located on the east coast of the U.S. Given I have a family (including pet cats) and a full time job, my communication and response time is prone to being erratic, though I aim for a couple times daily to at least once weekly. If I know I will be absent or am not feeling up to writing for an extended period of time, I try to inform my writing partners.

Writing Preferences:
I write in third person, past tense, with my best attempts at grammar, punctuation, capitalization and spelling. My responses range in length from 200ish to 1000+ words per post. Post length will often vary depending on what's happening in the current scene (for instance, our characters engaging in dialogue benefits from briefer responses, whereas a transitioning scene describing a new setting benefits from a longer, more descriptive one). My favorite genre is romance, with just about any sub-genre working well as a backdrop (i.e. a sci-fi romance, a western romance, a contemporary romance, etc.) I primarily write MxM stories, though occasionally dabble in MxF and FxF if the right characters and story combination grabs me. I also enjoy fleshing out a story with side/NPC/supporting characters when applicable. I tend to use photos of real people or realistic illustrations for characters, though I can also work with solely text descriptions.

Sexual Content:
Bedroom wise, I am not really into writing that focuses on kinks. Each character I create may have their own personal sexual quirks and interests that may or may not dip into kink territory. I also don't subscribe to strict top/bottom roles and prefer more fluidity/switching, whatever might suit the couple's chemistry in each story. I don't like to define specific smut to story ratios, but I prefer there to be story and plot interwoven with moments and scenes of intimacy. The amount and type of intimacy should be befitting of the particular characters and story we are weaving. I also love me a good slow burn.

What I Seek in Writing Partners
That indescribable chemistry is what I like to find, though it is hard to pinpoint why some may click and others don't. That said, I find if someone has similar writing interests, uses their best efforts when creating a response, helps to move the story forward, and displays engaged/excited energy regarding our shared story, that we are more likely to mesh well.

I don't expect mirrored length responses and have no issue if your post length varies (just no one lining please). Also feel free to bombard me with OOC chatter and discussion, songs, images, memes, etc that might remind you of our story or our characters. And I'd appreciate it if you let me know if you think you may need a break, want to stop, will be absent a while or are stuck and need help figuring out how to move the plot forward.

"... Haven't you heard Whittle is a fraud?" the hoodie-wearing young man asked casually before bringing his cigarette back to his lips. The white smoke billowed from the smoldering cigarette tip and wafted toward the sickly, dark sky.

The businessman straightened his suited shoulders, maintaining the composure he'd perfected over years of client meetings. "I've heard a lot of things. Fraud. Mystic. Con man. Savior." He held the young man's gaze steadily. "I've also heard he can do something nobody else can. And that's worth more to me than rumors."

The young man snorted, a sound somewhere between amusement and derision. "Savior. That's a new one." He tipped up his head enough that the faint glow of the city cast a cold rim along the edge of his tired features. "But what's a guy like you doing chasing ghosts? You look like you got a 401k and a summer home. People like you don't end up in places like this unless they're real desperate. Or real stupid."

The suited fellow's jaw tightened. The young man's assessment was blunt, but he had not come all this way to be insulted by someone who looked like he had not seen the business end of a shower in weeks. Still, there was no denying the way his pulse had picked up. The young man was deflecting, and people only deflected when they had something to hide.

"Desperate," the businessman answered honestly. There was no point in pretending otherwise. A man in a tailored suit standing in a dank alley like this was already a confession. "Desperate enough to let a sketchy bartender shake me down for two hundred dollars just to maybe point me in the right direction." He let that settle for a moment. "So if you know something, I'd appreciate you not wasting what's left of my evening."
𝆹𝅥𝅮 Premise: YC has finally found Whittle (MC), a man who is rumored to be able to bring souls back from the dead. Ever since the loss of his beloved wife, YC has been desperate to find a remedy for his broken heart and has come to the conclusion that the only thing that will fix him is to restore that which has been lost. Desperate and impatient, YC hires a medium/necromancer known as 'Whittle' to bring back his dead lover. The price Whittle expects isn't cheap and the process will take many weeks to perform. Regardless, YC agrees to Whittle's terms, which include acquiring the questionable ingredients necessary to perform the forbidden ritual as well as allowing Whittle to live in YC's home so he might better capture the 'essence of his dead lover's aura'. YC may be left wondering, as time marches on, if Whittle actually has the abilities he's been rumored to possess, or if he's simply running a ruse to have a rent-free roof over his head. It doesn't help that Whittle may start seeming to exhibit behaviors similar to YC's lost love, wearing some of the late love's accessories or knowing things about YC that only his wife would know. Affection might blossom from this new, odd living situation, which might leave YC feeling confused and conflicted, uncertain if that affection is from seeing his dead lover within Whittle or if it's truly for Whittle himself. Worse still, other shady customers of Whittle may come making demands, too impatient for Whittle to finish his current commission, or they might start to threaten the both of them if Whittle's past services haven't delivered quite how they expected.
𝆹𝅥𝅮 Your Character (YC): A desperate man who finds the prospect of living without his lover too harsh of a burden to bear. It's possible he's lived a less than reputable life thus far, possibly of a criminal/mafia nature. Or maybe he comes from an upstanding background and has never walked the underbelly of the city before. Maybe he's harbored a curiosity for things of the occult, or perhaps he's a more dubious non-believer in anything supernatural. Regardless of his history, he has been enraptured by the slim possibility that his lover might be returned to him, flesh and soul, through Whittle's taboo ritual. He's ready to do whatever it takes to regain what has been lost, no matter the price. *[He doesn't have to resemble the fellow in the inspiration imagery]
𝆹𝅥𝅮 My Character: The world has never exactly smiled on Merrick Whittle. A recluse in many senses of the word, he doesn't seem to fit too well into the broader society, but he has curated a reputation within underground circles for being able to speak with the dead and to even bring back souls from beyond the grave. Being paid for his peculiar and shadowy abilities has kept the twenty-something year old afloat in the ever changing tides of life. He often appears tired, with eyes that can only be described as haunted, with a tongue that speaks words that fall somewhere between charming and jaded. Due to the nature of his business, the customers he attracts are often quite powerful and potentially dangerous. Yet the allure of money (or perhaps the desperate pleas or threatening demands of others) keep Whittle from ever seeming to truly escape the macabre role he's been born to play. 1784922988914.png
