Evening Sanctum!!

In another rare instance of me planning ahead, the time has come for a schedule of Movie streams.

As always, these will happen in the Site Discord on Saturdays.

First, next Saturday, September 27th, will be nautical themed!!

So far, that includes the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, Treasure Planet and Master and Commander. I am also debating The Lighthouse (2019). Other requests will be considered.

Now, as long-time Dwellers know, October is our big month here on the Sanctum. Spooky Season is in the air! Already, our haunted theme is available if you want to get in the mood.

Those who know also know that I absolutely love horror films. Good ones, bad ones, scary, funny, well-known or obscure. I have far, far too many for just one stream—and beyond that, not everyone has the same tastes.

So here's the plan!!! Every Single Saturday in October (yes, all of them), a different stream.

The order is not set in stone yet, but the general themes are. If you have requests, make them now. I probably have the films already, but will get others if there is enough demand.

1. Sissy Night—this is for, mostly, horror comedies. Basically, movies that not even a squeamish viewer is going to complain about. Also in consideration are films like Dracula (1992), which are far more horror-themed drama

2. Scary Night—your actual horror of horror films. Focus is on elevated horror, not really on jumpscares, but this is the night where anything goes

3. Classics Night— The original Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing—films that are extremely influential on horror, but not really scary by modern standards.

4. Zombie Night. Because I have so many Zombie films that I feel bad about excluding from the others. Expect Dawn of the Dead, Train to Busan, Shaun of the Dead, maybe some Zombieland.

All of these are very loosely defined at the moment, so get your requests in!

A couple DCOMs are always a necessity for sissy bought l night. Nightmare Before Christmas is done people's whole personality.

Mine included, ofc.

... I won't say no, but I need titles. Aside from Hocus Pocus.

Nightmare might or might not make the cut (I have seen that movie so many times and there are so many other choices)

... How the fuck did I forget Coco.

Haunted Mansion too, for that matter. The first was my childhood.

For the sissy night- Clue, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, Hocus Pocus, Young Frankenstein, Dracula:Dead and Loving It, Casper, Tower of Terror(thinking the 90's one), The Watcher in the Woods, Monster House, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, So I married an ax murderer, The Burbs, Once Bitten, The Craft, Practical Magic

Not sure where these would fit, but other spooky movie suggestions- What lies beneath, Secret Window, Dusturbia, The Others, The Ring, The Skeleton Key, The Haunting, Sleepy Hallow.

For the classics - The Exorcist, The Shining, Psycho, Rosemary’s Baby, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Hellraiser

For scary, tho they are more gore than scare - The Saw movies

Consider Gremlins for the sissy night, maybe 😍

OH HEY, SPOOKY MOVIES, SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT TIME FOR SOME DAVID LYNCH. RIGHT, JAMES?!

Ahem.

But no, seriously.

The Shining is a must. If you want some great found footage that's a bit off the beaten path, Hell House LLC. Weapons is very good as far as newer horror movies go. Hereditary would be great, but might be a little too heavy. Evil Dead 2 is a must. Blair Witch could be fun. And fuck it, Eraserhead just to weird everybody out and never listen to my suggestions again.

The Shining is not negotiable.

Hereditary is one of the best movies I've ever seen... and I'm not sure I ever want to watch it again

Evil Dead 2 is a solid pick, though where it falls is a whole other question

Saturday October 4th: Sissy Night

Coco (2017) — 105 minutes
Hocus Pocus (1993) — 96 minutes
Haunted Mansion (2023) — 123 minutes
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) — 127 minutes
Practical Magic (1998) — 104 minutes
Evil Dead 2 (1987) — 84 minutes
Army of Darkness (1992) — 81 minutes
Gremlins (1984) — 106 minutes

Total: 826 minutes, 13.7 hours

What's wrong with The Shining?!

... nothing, it's one of the greatest movies ever. It's non-negotiable because it's already on the list :heh:

Okay, so right now, my plan for the remaining streams is:

Zombie (October 11th)

Classics (October 18th)

Scary (October 25th)

So now, I'm leaving it open for anyone who wants to put in requests or suggestions for any of them.

So far, for Zombies, guaranteed:

1. Train to Busan

2. Return of the Living Dead

3. Dawn of the Dead

4. Shaun of the Dead

Likely but not set in Stone

1. Night of the Living Dead

2. 28 Days/Years later (or both)

3. Zombieland (and possibly Double Tap)

More ideas welcome!

No Bride and Prejudice and Zombies? Rude. kidding I dont even know what that is

I thought I Am Legend was quite good, but maybe I only liked it because if the dog...similarly, I can't tell if I enjoyed Warm Bodies only because Nicholas Holt is so whimsical, but it's a zombie movie!

Train to Busan tho 🔥
