Does what it says on the tin. This is a thread dedicated to the key characters in the civil war pass along. Players, feel free to add your own.

With the exception of Rosh, keep officers to a cap of 12 for skill points and 8-10 for regular soldiers. min 3 skills, max 5

The Ring of Blades (Officers)

Name: Captain Rosh Hanrickson

Appearance: Tall, heavily muscled, bearded, strong jawed and battle-scarred. The captain sports an eye-patch where an errant arrow ended his 3D vision some years ago.

Age: 40

Gender: Male

Race: Nord

Skills:
One Handed- expert (4)
Heavy Armour- expert (4)
Block- adept (3)
Speech- adept (3)

Spells: N/A

Weapons: Ebony sword

Armor: Full set of ebony armour and shield

Background: Captain Rosh was only a teenager, and a fresh recruit in Skyrim's military when the Infamous Battle of the Red Ring took place, followed by the Empire suffering the humiliation of the White-Gold Concordat. The disillusioned young man watched in horror as the Nord's proud traditions were stamped upon to feed the ego of the Aldmeri Dominion. In the aftermath he tried to struggle onwards as a soldier but ultimately the bowing and scraping of his superiors to the Thalmor made Rosh sick to his stomach. He left and never looked back.

In his twenties he became a sellsword, and built a reputation as a skilled swordsman and tactical thinker; constructing brilliant traps for bands of bandits who sought to occupy the abandoned forts scattered about his home country, and striking fear into the hearts of the forsworn scattered around Markarth with his fearlessness in combat. In his thirties the Captain began recruiting his own mercenary band with the objective of cleaning up both Skyrim and Cyodiil and strengthening it's people for the inevitable second war against the Aldmeri domination. The 'Ring of Blades' garnered their own reputation as talented professionals who could get the job done no matter the cost.

When Ulfric Stormcloak killed the High King, Rosh saw his chance. He led the Ring of Blades on a hard march to Windhelm and immediately offered his services to the Jarl. An offer which was gladly accepted.

Personality: Rosh exudes an easy charisma tempered with steely determination and an iron will. His loyalty to his mercenary band is equalled only by his desire to see Skyrim restored to it's former glory.

Name: Sergeant Boragog Burguk

Appearance: Stands tall at 6"3, with the broad chest and thick arms typical of his people, Boragog sports a handlebar moustache and a top knot of black hair. He has particularly prominent tusks and big genial eyes

Age: 32

Gender: male

Race: Orc

Skills:
Two Handed- expert (4)
Heavy Armour- expert (4)
Block- expert (4)

Spells: N/A

Weapons: Orcish Warhammer

Armor: Orcish armour (full set)

Background: A Skyrim tribesman, Boragog grew in the Dushnik Yal stronghold near Markarth. He is, of course, the son of the tribe's chief Burguk and endured the normal, yet brutal upbringing that stronghold orcs inevitably faced. Boragog met Captain Rosh and the Ring of Blades during a confrontation against the Forsworn who populated The Reach. Impressed by the orc's viciousness in combat, the Captain offered him a job on the spot and Burguk, seeing an opportunity to improve his skills in preparation for the inevitable duels of succession which mark the change from one chief to another, accepted. It was only a short time before Rosh promoted Boragog to Sergeant.

Personality: Typically gruff, as most Orc's are, Boragog likes to mock the smaller members of the Ring of Blades, although usually in a playful way, he's more than capable of putting a boot (verbal or not) up the backside of any members he perceives as 'slacking off', an early riser, a heavy drinker, aggressively cheerful when in his cups.

Name: Sergeant Jade Ermingard

Age: 28

Appearance: 5"7 with a toned build that comes from a physical profession, chin length brown hair in a centre part, sharp features, green eyes from which she got her namesake.

Gender: Female

Race: Nord

Skills:
Smithing- expert (4)
Two handed- adept (3)
Light Armour- adept (3)
Block- apprentice (2)

Spells: N/A

Weapons: Elven greatsword (flawless crafted)

Armor: Elven armour (flawless crafted)

Background: Born in Windhelm, Jade grew up in a old city with her parents and younger brother. She had an uneventful childhood, gave her dolls over to the tools in her father's forge and the thrill of practising with the weapons they made. Although her interests were outside the typical for a young woman, Jade never really considered herself a 'tomboy'; simply seeing herself as 'a girl who was a craftswoman'. Jade grew to admire Jarl Ulfric and his speeches about 'restoring Skyrim's pride', giving her the feeling that an important part of her heritage had been lost. When the Circle of Blades became regulars at their shop it was only a matter of time before the young woman approached the patriotic Captain Rosh to inquire if the Mercenary band had need of a regular blacksmith. Having seen the quality of her work; Rosh hired her there and then.

For the last five years Jade has been repairing the mercenary's gear, and finding a talent for leadership which her Captain brought out in her by setting a strong example. At the start of the story Jade's returns with a high heart to the city of her birth.

Personality: Jade is laid back and practically minded with a wry sense of humour. Given to cracking jokes in serious situations as a nervous reflex. She has occasional periods of mania, especially when indulging her creativity. Her loyalty to her adopted family is strong, although it occasionally brings the childish side out in her.

Name: Sergeant Tyrael Oakenhollow

Appearance: short (5"5), long, braided light brown hair, big hazel eyes, lupine face shape

Age: 62

Gender: Female

Race: Bosmer (wood elf)

Skills:
Archery- expert (4)
Sneak- adept (3)
Alchemy- adept (3)
One handed- apprentice (2)

Spells: N/A

Weapons: Elven Bow and Sword

Armor: Leather armour full set minus helmet

Background: Tyrael's family came from Cyrodiil originally. Her parents earned a living as travelling alchemists and hunters moving nomadically from town to town to sell their wares, and the young elf naturally picked up on her parents skills. Life was idyllic and would've remained that way if not for one fateful day when a bandit attack on the road to Bruma.

The Oakenhollow famiy had fallen into a convoy with other travellers a few days earlier when the ambush was sprung. A rain of arrows killed the men at the front of their wagon train and the trap was sprung. In the ensuing fight both Tyrael's parents were killed and the wood elf was taken hostage. On the way back to the bandit's camp when things seemed their bleakest she was rescued by The Ring of Blades who been hired to put an end to the outlaws reign of terror. Captain Rosh offered the young elf an escort to the nearest town only to follow up with a job offer when he saw her skill with bow and potion making. The former demonstrated by Tyrael taking revenge on a fleeing bandit by putting a shaft in his back from a hundred paces and the latter when she offered to mix up healing drafts and poisons by way of thanks to her rescuers. Tyrael was a loyal member of the mercenary band ever since.

Personality: radiates composure in a manner that only the elder races of Tamriel can achieve. Tyrael's relative young age for an elf hides a wisdom associated with one a hundred years her senior. She has a kind heart and a brave soul.

The Ring of Blades (soldiers)

Name: Miri Westburg

Apperance: slightly built, short at 5"2, generous eyes and mouth, long brown braided hair

Age: 22

Gender: female

Race: Nord

Skills:
Speech- expert (4)
Conjuarion- apprentice (2)
One handed- apprentice (2)

Spells

Conjuration- conjure familiar, conjure flame atronach

Weapons: Steel sword (superior)

Armour: elven armour (superior)

Background: Born in Morthal, Miri had an uneventful childhood working the farmland with her parents. Even as a child she was fascinated by music, begging her father to buy her a lute after she saw the local bard playing at The Moorside Inn. While her parents were sure their daughter would grow out of her obsession as she grew up, Miri took to learning the instrument with relentless enthusiasm. Eventually her parents gave in and hired her a tutor.

By adulthood Miri had moved to solitude to enroll in the bard's college and became a star pupil under the guidance of Headmastar Viarmo. The young lady developed a talent for composing songs which drew audiences at every tavern she performed in. Of course, travelling was dangerous in Skyrim for a young woman by herself, so Miri was quickly nagged by her teachers at the college into learning a few Spells to defend herself. Fortunately by that point she'd ingratiated herself enough with the court wizard at The Blue Palace for her to teach her.

Miri might've kept living a peaceful life if it wasn't for a bandit ambush she ran one day on the way to Markarth. Fortunately the Circle of Blades had been contracted to patrol the area and turned up in the nick of time when the odds seemed to great for Miri to handle alone. Thanking the mercenaries and, seeing a once in a lifetime opportunity to write a song for the ages, Miri offered her services to the band and was accepted into their ranks.

Personality: Miri is cheerful and full of fun, she takes great joy in performing for her fellows. She enjoys a drink and has struck up a particularly close friendship with Sergeant Jade, who crafted her armour and taught her to wield a blade.

Name: Ri'arr Jo

Appearance: average height with blonde and black fur, prominent muzzle, yellow eyes, gold ring piercings in ears

Alchemy- expert (4)
One handed- adept (3)
Speech- adept (3)

Spells: n/a

Weapons: Steel sword

Armour: alchemists robes, leather bracers and boots.

Background: Born in Elsweyr (where else?) into a family of travelling merchants Ri'arr enjoyed a youth full of exciting travel to exotic locations, meeting new people and experiencing many different cultures. He considers himself a 'citizen of the world', and he as grew his desire for adventure only grew.

His mother taught him the intricacies of the art of Alchemy and his father taught him the art of Merchantile. His ability with a blade came from the bodyguard his parents hired the guard their caravan.

A few years after he came of age his parents retired from the road and set up permanent residence in the town of their birth. Ri'arr happily inherited the wagon and carried on the proud family tradition. Over the years that followed the retrod the routes his parents had carved out before finally turning north to Skyrim. It wasn't long before he met the Circle of Blades camped outside of Markarth during their campaign in the rift. The Kahjiit immediately saw the benefit of travelling with a mercenary company who travelled regularly from town to town and was able to secure Captain Rosh's protection. Ri'arr was offered a position as a permanent member a short time later by slaying a pair of foolish thieves who snuck into the camp at nightfall to help themselves to his wares

Personality: Ri'arr is charming as any successful merchant would be. He has a tendency to speak in riddles and quote obscure sayings, usually to convince an unsure customer to buy his wares. He's brave, and his sense of adventure remains undiminished even as an adult. He's a stickler for haggling.

Name: Chef Elisande Onisien

Appearance: tall for a breton and broad shouldered for a woman, stern faced and hook nosed. She has narrow eyes that look as if they don't approve of much

Age: 39

Gender: Female

Race: Breton

Skills:
Archery- adept (3)
Sneak- apprentice (2)
Alchemy- apprentice (2)
Two handed- apprentice (2)

Spells: N/A

Weapons: crossbow and steel battle axe

Armour: chef apron and hat, boots

Background: Born in Skyrim into a well to do Breton family. Elisande grew up in comfortable surroundings in Solitude. She enjoyed the best tutors for her education, and quickly discovered not only the joy of the culinary arts but the thrill of hunting for the ingredients. Growing up somewhat detached from the other children gave the young lady a chilly demeanour, but the few friends she did make she was loyal to. Her decision to join the army was on her parents recommendation that 'it build character' and would 'get her out into the big, wide world'.

Elisande joined the army as a chef shortly after Captain Rosh did, the pair struck up a friendship during their service together, and she was one of first people Rosh approached about joining the Circle of Blades after his departure. Sharing his disgust at the country she grew up in being desecrated by the Aldmeri dominion. She agreed.

Personality: gruff exterior, stony countenance, Elisande isn't one to sugar coat her opinions to spare someone's feelings. She treats the younger members of the Circle of Blades as errant children who need to have an eye kept on them.

Name: Erlinl Ice-Hair

Appearance: short with a wiry build, slicked back black hair and goatee, piercing eyes and a hawklike nose

Age: 23

Race: Nord

Skills:
One handed- adept (3)
Sneak- adept (3)
Lock picking- adept (3)
Illusion- novice (1)

Spells:
Illusion- muffle, calm

Weapons: ebony sword and dagger

Armour: leather armour, torturer's hood (fortify Illusion enchantment)

Background: Born and raised in Riften, Erwinl's childhood was nothing to envy. With the rampant poverty, the criminal antics of the thieves and the corruption of the Blackbriar family planning the town it was at time unbearable. His father died over a money lending debt when Erwinl was fifteen. The young man was impotent to do anything about revenge at the time, but after he grew up he found a way.

He sought out the Dark Brotherhood through rumour and ritual, eventually capturing the attention of their leader and agreeing without reservation to do what was necessary to prove his loyalty. His drive and dedication paid off, and years later he finally got the revenge he sought. Killing in the man who murdered his father in spectacular violence, and coming to the realisation that the only thing that had been driving him was now gone.

Erwinl fell into a deep depression upon realising what he had become. He refused to take jobs after his revenge and took to drinking until his brothers and sisters in darkness eventually got sick of his self pity and summarily expelled him from the organisation. Without a purpose to follow, he fell in with the Circle of Blades a year ago after showing the Captain what he was capable of on a trail job.

Personality: still suffers from depression and anger regarding his past life, Erwinl is a quiet soul with little interest in his fellow soldiers. He holds no hostility towards them however.

Name: Drahee

Appearance: Tall and slender build, deep blue scales with white spots along the chest area and long and tail. Small horns with several copper rings attached to them.

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Race: Argonian

Skills:

One handed - Apprentice (2)
Sneak - Adept (3)
Picketpocket - Adept (3)
Speech - Apprentice (2)

Spells: None

Weapons: Steel sword, steel dagger

Armor: Hide armor, hide braces, hide boots (muffle enchantment)

Background: Drahee's past is a subject for discussion. From what we can say for sure is that she hails from the Black Marches, but the rest is more of a speculation than a statement of fact. If you would ask Drahee herself she would claim that her parents were two of the most famous Shadowscales ever to serve and as per custom she was also born under the sign of the Shadow. It's only due to the supposed fall of the Shadowscales that she did not follow in her parents footsteps.

Coincidentally her parents died at a very young age and she was left to fend for herself from a very young age. No siblings or other family alive to substantiate the claims of her remarkable past. She arrived in Skyrim by some miraculous luck, with nothing but her 'honest' word to confirm her story.

Also she claims she was the real author of the Lusty Argonian Maid and she has made it her life mission to track down the supposed impostor Crassius Curio and cut his heart out. Incidentially it also holds the position as her favorite book, since she can't seem to shut up about it every five minutes.

In conclusion, nobody know how she actually ended up in the Ring of Blades. She seemingly just seemed to show up one day and then stayed around. What is without doubt though, is her skills which earned her a permanent position in the company. While not as skilled with the blade, somehow she just seemed to end up with the upper hand against her assailants, perhaps she has some kind of gift of luck from the mercy of the gods.

Or perhaps she was a trained assassin from birth.

Personality: Loud, flirty, seemingly extremely optimistic, she never shuts up about that stupid book and what she will do to the author
