Premise: Ebenezer has always wanted to get away from home. On one of his daily escapades, he bumps into a young, handsome ranch hand, who he immediately falls in love with. He has secrets, though, and isn't willing to divulge them, despite their budding friendship. But something happens, and everything is laid bare. Ebenezer must learn to trust his companion, and falls in love with him along the way.
It takes place in a fictional mining town in eastern Texas known as Fogbrooke, called that because of its tendency to be very humid and foggy. It's also got a river to the eastern side and many ponds around it, since in the eastern part of the state it tends to be wetter rather than the dry, desert-like landscape. It's a pretty small town, but it's also the only one around, with only ranches and farms for miles. There's a few stores, a tailor, a doctor, a saloon, et cetera.
Now, as for the reason I labeled it historical fantasy, Ebenezer is a vampire. Supernatural and magical creatures all exist in the world, as do the many cryptids and other creatures. Chupacabra, of course, is the most notable of these. I should also note that magic intertwines with science, and those proficient in magic also have some knowledge beyond the current public scientific knowledge. Ebenezer's home is electrically lit and has running, heated water and plumbing, which isn't entirely historically inaccurate. Indoor plumbing started around the 1840s. Anyways, off that little tangent.
Ebenezer has a young son, around 5 years old. His name is Judson, he's the product of bad circumstances. But Ebenezer does the best that he can to raise him while simultaneously keeping him away from his grandfather. Fortunately he leaves before he can do any harm to the young boy. Obviously he won't be a main fixture of the plot, since that's against the site's rules. He will pop up from time to time, though. I should also mention that Ebenezer is trans, and used magic to alter himself in order to pass. Judson was born before that. Judson's father leaves after Ebenezer kicks him out, which will happen at the beginning of the plotline.
Ebenezer is very shy and passive, but loves to have fun. He's quiet too, but gets a little louder if he's excited. He gets flustered very, very easily. He's very eager to help, even if he doesn't quite know what he's doing. He walks with a limp due to an improperly set broken leg that happened when he was younger. His body is very fragile. He's very much a people pleaser, because he needed to keep his father happy in order to avoid his wrath.
