Hey all, I'm looking to start an RP with a particular mood. That mood is antiquated and queer. Something rosy, slow, and maybe a little foppish and bittersweet. Think if Oscar Wilde wrote Dead Poets Society. Think of a fire-lit mansion off the coast of Maine with a bunch of calligraphic gay love letters stuffed in the mailbox. Think of Sufjan Stevens playing softly and constantly in the back of your mind, except it's 1860 and you go to a Catholic boy's college. That is the mood. I would love to write something historical, taking place either before/during antiquity (I just never got over Song of Achilles) or around the mid-nineteenth century to the turn of the twentieth century. If you'd like to suggest a different time period, though, I'd love to potentially plot something out with you. Check out the plots below for some more details on what I'm interested in specifically.

What to expect:
My writing style is literate and my replies are typically around 4-10 paragraphs long. It really depends on what's going on in the narrative. I won't just write a bunch of padding if we're doing a dialogue-heavy scene, for example, but I might write a lot more if we're transitioning scenes or focusing on world-building for a bit. I try to go for quality over quantity with my replies, and I'm fairly flexible when it comes to length/expectations/what-have-you. We'll find our rhythm as we write. No worries, no stress.

Third person perspective is preferred. I'll also probably want to do a lot of plotting OOC through PMs.

I try to reply to RPs within at least a day. I'm an educator and just moved to a new school, so my schedule is a little wacky right now. It's probably safe to expect delays every once and a while, but I try my best to let my partners know if I'm going to be offline for more than a few days. I don't particularly care if my partners do that or not. I'm not your mom, this is a hobby, and you don't owe me an explanation for what you're up to. Again, no stress.

Smut is great. I would expect to write smut eventually, but we don't have to and we can fade the scene to black. Conversely, if smut's mostly what you're looking for, we can make that work too. We can discuss specifics when we hash things out.

Plots:

Old Flames: 1800s-1900s.
Our characters were sweethearts when they were younger (childhood-adolescence-university?). It was a pretty DL affair, obviously, and to anyone else our characters probably looked like really close friends. Or maybe it was an open secret- Maybe our characters come from wealthier backgrounds where gay affairs were more viewed as recreational or idiosyncratic. As the pair became older they drifted apart. Maybe due to war/military service, or travel, or a job, or marriage, or any other number of responsibilities. Very suddenly, several years later, they find themselves thrust back together, in the same town, though much less care free than they were in their childhood. Will they be able to stop their romance from rekindling, even with all of their baggage from the past few years apart?
I have way more specific ideas for this plot that I would be more than willing to share if we connect, but I also wanted to keep it fairly open so that I can hear what ideas my partners have. This can also take place anywhere. I'm more familiar with American history during this time period, but I feel like we can place this story anywhere with a few changes.

Antiquity:
I actually have no plots for this time period specifically, but here are some dynamics I like:
Nobility/Nobility
Nobility/Soldier
Citizen/Slave
Slave/Slave (?)
This one is up in the air, and open to a lot of discussion and spitballing.

I am also open to any other gay, historical plots anyone has, and I'm always down to throw around ideas. Variety is the spice of life, and I'll be adding more plots as I think of them.

A few more things:
~Please be 21+
. Again, I'm a teacher and I really don't want to be writing with people near the same age as my students.
~This is a trans friendly/positive prompt.
~PM me or reply to this thread if you would like to plot.
~PM me if you'd like to see a writing sample.

Bumping this.

If we started discussing plots or if you PM'd me about this and never heard back, I was dealing with a lot of work-related things at the time, so apologies. Feel free to PM me again if that was the case.
