Request Threads
We made a small addition to the Request thread info boxes that we hope some of you will find useful.
These boxes were added at the top of request threads a few years back to condense important information for ease of access. You can access them by scrolling down when creating a thread or by editing an existing one.
Previously, a full info box looked like this:
We've now added three new catagories (other than the Rules check. all are, as always, optional)
Unlike previous options, the three new ones only allow selecting a single option. The goal is to allow people to clarify if they are:
1. Open to roleplay solicitations that are unrelated, semi-related, limited by genre, etc. The idea is to pick the broadest category you are open to
2. Whether you are interested in Canon Characters, Original Characters or Both
3. If you're open to Group Roleplay invitations (this obviously does not exist in the Group RP section)
As always, the intent is not to replace detailed request threads, just condense information for easy reference and make it unambiguous, which should in turn make people more willing to message with related plots. The Solicitation option in particular will also make it much easier for us to identify cold callers.
The exact options for each category are somewhat in flux and open to feedback if I've missed something obvious.
Basically, if one of the listed options does not fit your needs, post below!!
Profile Wall
This is not a change so much as a clarification.
First, as a reminder, what is posted as a profile status is visible to the entire site. As such, it is also moderated based on that assumption. In particular, we've had something of an issue recently with people "vague posting" what seem to be interpersonal issues with other members. This is and always has been against our rules. We write drama here, we don't live it. If you have a falling out with someone, you can use the ignore feature at your whim—we have even recently updated it so you cannot see their content at all.
If a profile post looks like a callout of someone on site, it will be removed. "Looks like" being important here, because staff have no way to tell the difference between a message about a member and a message about real life. By necessity, profile posts will be taken at face value.
Likewise, we will continue to remove content that is graphic, triggering or falls under the banner of "too much information." Saying you've had issues in general terms is one thing, but this limit has been pushed in the past. If you feel like the information is important, then we strongly recommend making the wall post vague and putting the details in a blog post, where it cannot be encountered by accident.
As always, you can ask questions down below.
