Thank you Tali for a brilliant title for this dramedy.


Everyone has that one friend who wants to play witch. So let’s set the scene:

Imagine a small group of friends, they’ve been waiting for spooky season all year. This is their time, their moment to shine! One of them has procured a book of dubious origins, and they have the audacity to attempt a ritual from said heinous pages filled with OoooOOOooooH “dark magic”. Of course, none of them expect anything to come of it, even with some dead animal parts and a little of their own blood cut from the same knife (can someone say blood bonded forever?). And surely not a single one of them actually wished to bring upon the world the chaos of the underworld, but who can say they really had a choice in any of it?

Needless to say, they didn’t know what they were doing. Still don’t know what they’re doing, but now there are actual real life demons and witches??

In short, they open a door for a short few minutes. But those precious moments are enough for a handful of demons to escape into the human realm in search of some real witches to wreak havoc over. These real witches, obviously, aren’t too happy about all this.

This is a rather open-ended plot, with a lot of potential and diverging possibilities. Creative ideas welcome, but let’s remember that this is group play and not a one-man show. So when coming up with ideas, please be mindful that there are other players and that we are playing together. Mutual respect and consideration are tantamount.

Playable roles include (numbers are arbitrary dependent on interest):

• faux witch friend group (4-5)
• demons (5-7)
• real witches (7-8)
• humans connected to any of the above (4-5)

Demons can be singularly-minded, out for themselves or paired off in the sense of partnering with each other to achieve their goals or better yet, rivalries amongst each other. Whatever goals they have, it should involve using witches to some capacity for plot’s sake of keeping things interconnected. They are undoubtedly more powerful than witches, but nothing too crazy OP.

Witches can be in a coven or scattered, I may or may not organize a core coven that’s being harassed more specifically by the demons. But we can also discuss amongst ourselves what we’d prefer to do. As for witch lore, it’s more incantations/spellcasting and potions under cover of secrecy; and are more powerful as a group. The modern world is mostly unaware of them, and now there’s this group of idiots they must contend with potentially outing them.

The setting is New York City.
