Good Days Good Days
Hey writers,
My name's Jerry. Early twenties, male sex/gender, US based, straight, yatta yatta. I like to call myself an aspiring author. It's that one thing I really love to do, you know? That and meet new people with new ideas. So here I am, fairly new on this site. Not new to role-play though. Like many others here, I hopped over to Writer's Sanctum after Guilty Pleasures shut its gates forever. In that community, I wrote everything from gothic, sci-fi horror to slice-of-life office drama, always with a passion for gradually developed character chemistry, uniquely plotted, tense conflicts, and, of course, vibrant smut.
Thankfully, I see the very same passion for just as wide a variety of stories here.
My interests/disinterests:
Mystery. Fantasy. Survival horror. Blackmail drama. Superhero action. I've done it all and more, having most experience and interest with the latter of the list. Superperson stories, DC, Marvel, or stemming from original settings - they just grip me like nothing else. They're malleable in scope and length. They can be cheesy or they can be grounded, action packed or political. I love how just about any genre or subplot can be woven into a superhero story, since, at their core, they're stories about people. People with masks off more often than on. I think that side of a character's life is sometimes more interesting altogether. Take a man who can read minds, for example. That's his power. His responsibility. When he realizes his wife gets home later and later each night while he's away tackling crime, does he give in to mistrust? Does he read her mind, too? Is he much of a hero then? It's these internal conflicts, how to deal with one's abilities, with one's fame, vanity, that's what makes a superhero story fun, not just the punching.
A more specific example and potential idea for a new RP:
My last, most successful RP featured my writing partner's character being an overpowered, supremely gorgeous heroine struggling against a world that constantly sexualized her. Though she strived to be a symbol of feminine purity and self respect, her figure was so intensely attractive that many whom she sought to inspire were instead rendered jealous or driven mad with lust at her every appearance. My character in this role-play was a highly resourceful stalker bent on forcing the heroine into situations where she had to confront the uselessness of innocence, the inherent hypocrisy in having the world's sexiest figure and pretending as though it didn't matter. He hated how she, someone parodied endlessly in porn, claimed to be a staunch supporter of abstinence. At the end of the story, he forced her to realize the ridiculous nature of her mission, making her admit to herself and to the world that innocence is truly a waste of nature's intentions. That the world truly is divided into the beautiful and the ordinary.
Basically, the core plot was about self acceptance. About learning to embrace the practical value that comes with beauty, evolution's highest valued trait, regardless of society pretending otherwise.
That was an especially fun RP because one of her superpowers, which she discovered through the course of the story, was the ability to weaken the concentration of her enemies through sexual acts. Something as simple as caressing herself would throw an approaching combatant off guard. Going so far as offering handjobs could render enemies powerless altogether, depending on the strength of their will. And so on. . .
Yeah, that was fun. It's my best plot idea, if you want to try it. I know how to work it pretty well. So my vote would be to write up a story deriving from some of those ideas. Namely, a naive but honest hearted woman who prides herself on her purity who comes to appreciate the value of using her body for power over others.
I can do a cutsy, lovey dovey Hallmark movie romance, too, but I don't like it. Falling-for-you-unexpectedly type stories just bore me. I'd much rather write a heavier plotline, a story whose characters get pressed and squeezed with shame, fear, envy, tragedy, loss, hopelessness, etc. The makings for a hard fought journey. A well deserved climax. Whatever the conflict, I think that's most naturally achieved when I'm writing "against" my partner. As in, one of us is the protagonist, one the antagonist. This way, role-playing becomes a sort of game. A contest between two writers attempting to thwart each other within the rules of the narrative via their avatars. Obviously, this works best with superhero/supervillain stories. I usually like writing the villain. Setting up challenges for the heroine to overcome. Testing her commitment to her morals, her virtue, her boyfriend. That's always fun, especially when it's my writing partner's job to discover my character's identity and weaknesses. Role-playing with me really is a game, in these ways. Lots of fun.
I'm not a fan of gore, body morphing, gender swapping, hermaphrodites, alien monsters, furries, toilet stuff, or anything along those lines.
Sign me up for sexual torture, public humiliation, bondage, gang rape, succubus demons, or a life threatening, family ruining, world enslaving sex tragedy, just leave out the scat stuff, please. I'm not for it.
On the dominant - submissive scale, I've practiced and enjoyed either end of the spectrum. If I had to choose, I'd say the best role-plays involve characters starting off dominant or submissive and then slowly becoming the opposite by the end of the story. That's just basic character growth, really, but it's important. Storytelling is all about change, I think. An example would be a roudy male character (my main character), perhaps a lifelong misogynist, who, in our story, would get kidnapped, broken, and then forced to accept his place beneath the whip and the heel of his new mistress. Another example would be a shy, awkward woman (your character) who is teased and taunted at work for her excellent figure, only to learn how to harness the power of those physical assets, luring her taunters into blackmail scandals and getting them fired for sexual harassment she encouraged, all the while moving up in the company. I'm always extremely impressed with women who can write dominantly. Entitled, prissy, rich, self-indulgent female characters will always have a special place in my heart.
Kinks I can dig:
Blackmail, forced public sex acts, sexual combat, forced cheating, gullible women, forcing guys to perform cunnilingus, abusive female bosses, vanity in beautiful women, mild foot stuff.
That's the basics anyway. And here's just a few rules to writing with me, should you be interested.
1. I would appreciate replies of at least a few paragraphs as often as your life allows. The more the better, but do your best. That's all I can ask for.
2. This might upset some writers, but I ask that you respect my limitations of comfort. Writing erotic role plays is an inherently intimidate deal, one I'm really only most comfortable having with straight or bisexual women writers (sex and gender) who are in their twenties. It'll be hard to relate if we're some ten years apart in age or if we grew up with incompatible desires. Role-plays just always go smoother this way for me. I apologise to those I have at this point excluded.
3. We should be able to casually discuss our story in a parallel thread or in messages. Talking outside the role-play itself really helps coordinate the direction and clarity of a story's plot, themes, characters, and twists. RP's that are completely winged post-to-post are sometimes inconsistent or end up with plot holes. Let's work to avoid that.
4. Please proofread before posting. Little typos here and there frankly don't bother me, but if either of us doesn't put our best effort into the work, it'll fall flat. Distracting mistakes pull me out of a story, or worse, confuse it completely. And that's no fun.
7. I don't write stories with main characters being elderly in age or particularly ugly. I want to be excited by what I imagine, you know?
8. No penetration of male characters. I only write straight guys. I can write female characters, too, of any orientation. Feel free to do whatever to them.
9. I'm looking for writers that role-play female characters. You can control other male characters, too, side characters, but the perspective of your writing, 3rd person or 1st, must be tailored to a female main. I will write male main characters, respectively.
9. Be honest with me. If you're not happy about an element of our story, just let me know. One of the reasons I do this is to feel the thrill of helping to satisfy a reader/writer's cravings. As I can't get off to my own writing (in the same way people usually aren't attracted to themselves), the goal for every word I put in place is to evoke powerful emotion in my writing partner. So if my ideas, writing style, dialogue, or otherwise doesn't get you going, please, please tell me this, and I will sincerely listen to the constructive criticism and work to improve. It doesn't even have to be academic in nature. If you don't want me writing a character the way I've been doing because he, the character, reminds you of a shitty ex, just tell me, and we'll kill him off if you like. Brutally.
If you have any questions or feel interested in the fun we could have, please let me know.
