But he's learned how to work with it, finding himself to be quite the social butterfly even if most relationships are at arm's length to keep things clean and uncomplicated. Or blame it on his fear of risking awakening his sentimental nature. Either works. He'll happily tackle most, if not any, tasks handed out his way, loving to feel and be useful to the community of which he's part and he's one to be trusted for honest opinions stripped off of underlying jabs. Nose is long with a light curve/hook and nose tip facing downwards, eyebrows are thin and angled a little upwards by the nose ridge giving him a permanent expression of light concern when just relaxing. His eyes are surprisingly round and open in that deep type of washed-out grey that just blends in and won't steal too mcuh attention. Ears are on the bigger side and he's kept his hair long; down to his shoulders to be more exact, which is dark brown and quite curly. He's carrying some well-kept and evenly groomed facial hair but each day that passes does he stray closer and closer to only keep the moustache. No moles or freckles, however a good handful of small uneven scares splattered across the bottom right half of his face; a childhood accident with friends; the main reason behind the still present beard, feeling a tad self-conscious. Skin is tanned from hours upon hours in the sun, with some steadily deepening lines at the corners of his eyes, on the left side of his mouth and between his eyebrows. He'll mostly be found in a pair of worn jeans and just as well-used chaps, calf high boots in dark leather and various button downs tucked in and with their sleeves (most often) rolled up past his elbows. He grew up in a moderate family; some older and some younger siblings, some of which he watched grow up and some, sadly, left as only memories and sentimental objects, mother and father. It was never entirely clear how the family found themselves moving to Durango, but they stayed for his father's job in the mines and both parents' love for the quickly developing town. As much as it meant opportunities, did such a city also attract personalities with maybe not the best of intentions in mind. Personalities which Max found himself drawn in by. A few years of his later teens bred nothing but trouble and headaches for his parents, who watched their son spend more time with poachers by the saloon than at home with the family; running a mean temper once he did. tbc

Always on the lookout for problems to correct or orders to follow - a goody-two-shoes with little room for compromises. While that sentiment is still true behind closed doors, he gets noticeably more relaxed when around friends, feeling less need to keep up a closed-off and serious persona. Surprising many with a goofy and almost waggish side normally stowed away. Dark, open eyes, prominent eyebrows and a long nose that'll strike as either sharper or softer depending on the angle. His jaw and cheekbones have started to sharpen up quite noticeably (for anyone who's known him for some time), making an endearing contrast to still teen-round cheeks and a mouth that's on the slightly wider side. In general does his features take up their righteous space on his face, complimented by dark hair (unsurprising seeing the colour of his eyes and natural tan) cut in quite the basic curtain hairstyle. One stand-out feature is the prominent moles on his face; one right under his left eye, the other on the right part of his chin. Much like his face is the rest of him still growing into something more adult, leaving him with long limbs and torso, narrower than some-shoulders but and generally lanky all-in-all. So it's almost a little surprising just how strong he actually is, once he gets to show that off. He can come across as a tad awkward at worst if caught on a bad day where motor skills seem to have abandoned him. On a good day however, is he the type to move swiftly and with a confidence to his posture which goes a little too well with his stern expressions - less resembling a teen and more the brute teachers roaming the same halls. ⠀⠀backstory; While his immediate relationship with his parents never was anything but ideal, and most of his childhood a gentle one, did the family's overall situation never look very bright. With no extended family to aid, and his father dependent on sickness benefits (which he was irregularly granted) did most of the economic strain land on his mother to solve. This meant long days away from home, sparse with food and clothes patched up thrice before even considered to be replaced. And it was fine. It was always fine. But other kids are mean, adults talk and the already pressed climate around topic such as people sharing his fathers heritage and their rights in "this society" added to years of bullying and alienation which left more permanent marks than any hungry night could ever do. This is nothing he talks about with anyone, keeping it locked away so to not have to think about. When it does shine through is it in sweat drenched nightmares, illogical fear of sticking out or seemingly uncharacteristic outbursts of defensive anger; lashing out at whoever had him feel cornered. All which has a safety blanket of an excuse already on its way if questioned. What he's had going for him is his brains, scoring straight A's and eventually landing him the scholarship at NNU; an opportunity to not only prove that he's just as good as anyone else, but also to get his parents out of the spiral they're unable to escape.
